Liz 400

Hello My Little Shoebox fans! Liz here today to share a few projects with you using the adorable Vintage Shop collection. It is so easy to create eye catching projects with these cute, whimsical owl papers and stickers.

Products used: My Little Shoebox Vintage Shop: Cardstock Stickers, Attic Treasures, Heirloom, French Lace, 3D Roll Up Flower and Accents, Mini Alphabet Stickers in Rose

Products used: My Little Shoebox Vintage Shop Cardstock Stickers, Heirloom, Rose Ribbon, 3D Roll Up Flowers and Accents, Muse Alphabet Stickers in Strawberry Frosting and Woodgrain.

And finally, I made two cards with the collection as well.

This card looks like it may have taken a while to make but it didn't. I cut out faux ribbon from the Rose Ribbon sheet and stacked them to look like real ribbon.    Products used: My Little Shoebox Vintage Shop Rose Ribbon and Heirloom.

Secret Garden Layout and Art

Hi this is Jenifer here with you today.  I am so excited to share my projects using the Secret Garden Collection.  I love this collection and ended up using every last little scrap I had of it.

For my first project I created an 8x10 canvas.  I did a bunch of layering and painting to make it just right.

Here is a close up of the banner and the cute girl, I just had to put one of the rolled up flowers in her hair.

Here is a closeup of the title and her dress.  I just did a bunch of layering for the skirt.  For the title I used a mixture of alphabets along with the new Muse alphabets.  I love the Muse stickers they are my favorite, and I use them on almost everything.

Up next is a super fun layout I created, I love how the butterflies move your eyes across the page.  This is definately one of my most recent favorite layouts.

Here is a closeup of the medallions and the butterflies giving this layout tons of texture.  I am not going to be able to put this one in an album so I will need to purchase a shadowbox:)

Thank you so much for taking the time to look at my projects today.  Make sure you stop by tomorrow for even more inspiration.

Tuesday Tutorial using My Little Shoebox and Want 2 Scrap

Hi everyone, Pattie here with a Tuesday tutorial.  I will be showing you how to create the grass portion on the card.  It's actually box pleated paper.  I love that look and have been box-pleating paper for some time now.  You can use a variety of border punch to change the look and make it yours.

Card2-pattiebeltran

When scoring a strip of paper for box pleating, please remember that your paper shrink by about 1/2 of the original length.  So if you score a 12" piece of paper, it will be 6" when you are done.  If you want to create a box pleat border for a 12x12 layout, you would need 2 strips of 12" paper, adhered together to make a long enough strip for your layout.  When scoring, you will need to score at the following dimensions.

The 1st score is at 1/2", then  every 1/4", then  3/4", 1/4", 3/4", etc. until you have scored the whole strip.    Have fun!!

A mini and cards featuring Oh Deer!

Hi everyone, Pattie here to share with you my mini album and cards using My Little Shoebox's Oh Deer! collection.  This collection is so perfect for all of your autumn projects.  The rich warm colors evoke a feeling of crisp afternoons and falling leaves, hot apple cider and relaxing at home with a good book or some scrappy goodies.

Here is the mini album that I created.  I had so much fun layering and inking my papers and stickers. Talking about inking, did you guys notice that our Mini Alphabet letters are now being sold in a new format.  You still get the same great stickers, but now they have a matte finish.  Hmmm.....what's so great about that you ask?  Well, now the letter stickers are perfect for inking and distressing and even stamping your favorite pattern onto.  They take ink and mediums perfectly.  So you can, say, take the Cream Mini alphabet stickers and stamp spooky spiderwebs onto them, and you have instant Halloween minis.  Don't know why I went so off track, but I just thought that you might like to know how great our Mini Alphabet stickers are!

Supplies used:  My Little Shoebox Oh Deer! collection:  Creekside Trail, A Walk in the Woods, Knock on Wood, Happy Campers, 3D Roll up Flowers and Accents, Cardstock Stickers, Woodgrain Muse Cardstock Alphabet Stickers, Apple Mini Alphabet stickers, Morning Mist trim

Next up, I have a little Fall card.  I love that flowers from the 3D Roll Up Flowers and Accents sheet can be used in other ways.  I punched out the orange flower and used it flat to create a pumpkin.  I think it turned out so cute!!

Lastly, I have a little card featuring the sweetest little deer.  I also used one of the new co-branded MLS/Unity stamps for this card.  It's the background stamp called Crunchtime.  I used 2 different embossing powders to create a neat colored background.

Oh Deer! Creations

Hello, My Little Shoebox friends! I'm happy to share with you my latest projects with the "Oh Deer!" collection. It's the perfect collection for all of your Fall creations.

KYowlerOctDeerLovely

One of my favorite items in this collection is the fabulous woodgrain patterned paper.  The fun cardstock stickers add so much character to this collection.  I love those little deer!

KYowlerOctDeerHike
I created this layout with a clustering of embellishments in two distinct areas of my layout.  The border strips and flags add charm to any project.

KYowlerOctDeerPinterest

I love My Little Shoebox alpha's!  For this layout, I created a title with Muse Cardstock Alphabet Stickers and used Mini Alphabet Stickers on my banner.

Lastly, I created this card with layering of lots of great cardstock stickers.  I love how you can create fun scenes with all of the wonderful embellishments in My Little Shoebox collections.

Creating with Vintage Shop!

Hello My Little Shoebox fans! Here’s Monique today with two layouts and a card, using the brand new “Vintage Shop” collection. I am in love with owls, so you understand my excitement when I first set eyes on this collection!!

Here’s my first layout about my super sweet Cocker Spaniel.

Mliedtke jip

I used the Silhouette Cameo to create the title, the lamp post and the clouds.

Mliedtke jip 2

How I love the colors and designs of this collection!

Mliedtke jip 5

Supplies: MLS Vintage Shop: Rose Ribbon (50011), French Lace (50012), Heirloom (50013), Attic Treasures (50014), 3D Roll-Up Flower and Accents (50015) and the Cardstock Stickers (50016). MLS Aiko: Kiss (11819) and Happy Go Lucky: Linen (11859). Other supplies: Kraft cardstock (American Crafts). Digital designs from the Silhouette online store, My Little Shoebox Portfolio

Then my second layout, using a photo of my mother and grandmother in around 1944:

Mliedtke mam en oma 1

I found this photo only a few weeks ago and I’m so happy with it I wanted to scrap it straight away. This collection is just perfect for it!

Mliedtke omas 1

Mliedtke omas 2

I’m really happy how this turned out!

Supplies: MLS Vintage Shop: Rose Ribbon (50011), French Lace (50012, Attic Treasures (50014) and the Cardstock Stickers (50016), ML S Aiko: Kiss (11819), MLS Mini Alphabet Sticker (50153). Other supplies: White and Kraft cardstock (American Crafts), Embossed Gold (Making Memories), Feathered Flower (Webster’s Pages), Pearl (Inkido), Glimmer Mist (Tattered Angels), Words-To-Go (K&Company), Doily: Misc.

I used the Silhouette Cameo to create the title and a border punch from Martha Stewart to create the row of birdies.

Then last but not least I created this card; how I love those owls!

Mliedtke what a hoot card

The base of this card is the Kiss side from an Aiko sheet and on all 4 sides of the card I adhered a small strip of paper which I then machine stitched to the base. In the centre of the card I stitched one of the journaling cards from the Vintage Shop sheet “Attic Treasures”. I added a row of buttons, a title (cut with Silhouette Cameo), a cardstock Owl sticker (use foam adhesive for extra dimension) and finished with a banner from the Vintage Shop sheet “3D Roll-Up Flower and Accents”.

Hope you like it!

Supply list: MLS Vintage Shop: Rose Ribbon (50011), French Lace (50012), Attic Treasures (50014), 3D Roll-Up Flower and Accents (50015) and the Cardstock Stickers (50016). MLS Aiko: Kiss (11819) and Happy Go Lucky: Linen (11859).Other supplies: Buttons (Misc.).

This is it for today! Thanks for stopping by My Little Shoebox’ blog and hope to see you back soon!

Wings over the Secret Garden

Hello MLS friends!  Linda here to begin the week with inspriation on the MLS blog with the delightful Secret Garden collection!  First is an album I created with a Maya Roads album and Secret Garden's beautiful butterflies and flowers.

  Lindaproject1
This album, with its "butterfly" pages and corrugated cover, was fun to use.  I inked all the papers, and centered a die cut butterfly.  Some cardboard stickers, a 3D Roll Up Flower and a doubled journaling tag finished it.

Lindaproject2

Lindaproject3

Lindaproject4

Lindaproject5

I had a lot of fun with this album, and this collection was perfect for some delightful pictures I had of my granddaughters just being kids!

Supplies:  I used all of the papers in the Secret Garden collection, the cardboard stickers, Mini Alphabt stickers,Muse Cardboard Letters, and 3D Roll Up flowers and accents.  Additionally I used lots of lace, ribbon, doilies, and even a tree I drew myself!

I also created two cards using this collection.

Happy Birthday Card

Card2lindaSep
I am absolutely crazy about dotted paper, so this card was really fun.  I used two  B sides from this collection, inked everything, and cut two butterflies with a Tim Holtz die.  Using one as a shadow, I foam dotted the top and decorated the center with some thick twine, ribbon and a small flower.

Supplies:  Secret Garden papers, Sweetie and Dorothy (B sides), Mini-Alphabet letters.  Other: three ribbons, Vintage Photo Distress Ink, some twine, and a small pink rose.

Thanks from the Heart card

Card1lindaSep

For this card, I used the Sweetie striped background, some vintage lace, a strip from the Cardboard sticker sheet, some packaged butterfly die cuts for backing the flowered butterflies, and a butterfly stamp.  I colored the bacground butterflies with Fired Brick Distress ink, which pefectly matched the floral strip, and used  the Sweetie paper for the smaller butterrflies.

Thanks for stopping in to the MLS blog.  Be creative and see what you can do with one of the six beautiful collections from MLS!

Cherry Delight projects by Grace Tolman

Hello My Little Shoebox friends, Grace here to share with you some projects I made using the new line Cherry Delight. I love how this line had a good balance between large and small scale design papers. Take a peek at what I made with these beautiful papers...

IKEA mini album

Ikea mini (1)

I used the Cherry Delight collection to create this album about a recent family trip to our local Ikea. We went to our local Ikea to get a giftcard and ended up staying there longer that we had expected. I was of course soaking up all of the inspirations and the family looked forward to the food we were to enjoy at the cafeteria. Over this “stop at Ikea” errand became a day filled with new adventures.

Some of the papers have bold design to I made sure that I matted my photos with white cardstock to make them stand out. I had fun sprinkling some of the rolled up flower die cuts all over this project. They truly are a unique way to add your handmade touch to your projects. I finished them off by adding buttons and rhinestones to the centers.

My little shoebox5

Supplies Used:

Pattern papers- (50001 Charming; 50002 Serenade; 50003 Bliss; 50004 Happy times) Cherry Delight; Die cut- 50005 3D Roll-up flowers and accents, Cherry Delight; Stickers- 50006 Cardstock sticker, Cherry Delight; 50106 Woodgrain Muse Cardstock; 50151 Kiss Mini Alphabet sticker; Cardstock- WorldWin; Mini Album- Doodlebug Design Inc.; Ribbon- (green) Cosmo Cricket, (others) Sources Unknown; Button- Fancy Pants Design; Rhinestones and pearls- Prima; Flowers- Accent Creative Design; Typewriter- Royal; Twine- Peapod, The Twinery; Adhesives- Glue Arts, Creative Memories

Happy B-day card

Happy bday (1)

I used a journaling block that had the floral accents already printed on it making for this card easy to put together.  I also think that by using a die cut scallop border and stickers made the process of making this card quick and easy.

Happy bday (2)
Supplies Used:

Pattern papers- (50001 Charming; 50003 bliss; 50004 Happy Times ) Cherry Delight; Die cut- 50005 3D Roll-up flowers and accents, Cherry Delight; Stickers- 50006 Cardstock sticker, Cherry Delight; 50106 Woodgrain Muse Cardstock; Ribbon- Source Unknown; Cardstock- WorldWin; Rhinestone- EK Success; Adhesives- Glue Arts, Creative Memories

Happy bday (3)

To My Friend Card

To my friend card (2)-001this might be familiar to some of you cause I used this for the recent My Little Shoebox and Unity Stamp blog hop.

I stamped the Japanese girl stamp on three different papers and then cut out parts of it and then layered the design on top of each other to create dimension and color.

I added some glitter on the hair and hair piece accent to create some shine on top of the stamped girl’s hair.

To my friend card (1)-001

Supplies Used:

Cardstock- Bazzill; {Pattern papers: (11859, Linen & Carnation) Happy Go Lucky; (50013, Heirloom) Vintage Shop; (50003, Bliss; 50004, Happy Times; 50001, Charming) Cherry Delight; Stickers- Cherry Delight, Cardstock Sticker; Letters- (50152) Cream Mini Alphabet Sticker; die cut strip- (50005) 3d flower and accents, Cherry Delight} My Little Shoebox; Stamp- (IB-MLS-392) You’re my bestie, Unity Stamp; Ink- Chestnut, American Crafts; Pen- Creative Memories; Glitter- Frosted lace, Stickles, Ranger Industries; Adhesives- Helmar, Creative Memories

Thank you for joining me today, happy creating.

"Coming Home" Cards

Hello MLS friends, Carol here. Today I want to share 5 cards that I made with the "Coming Home" collection.

"Hi" Journal Card

Carolcard1

Supplies: MLS papers (Urban Green, Town Square, 3D Roll Up Flowers and Accents, Cardstock Sticker, Honey Dew Muse Cardstock Alpha Sticker, Lullaby Trim Pack)

For this mini card, I used the journal card as card base. I simply cut to size the 2 journal cards and folded in half. I find this a quick and easy way to make a card with little embellishing, especially if you are in a rush. Hence I also like to make my own embellishments in advance for such events. The trim rosette is one such example.

Carolcard1c

For the inside of card, I layered the 2 stickers. Aren't they cute?? This is a super easy card and I hope you will try it.

"Missing You" Card

Carolcard2

Supplies: Bazzill White Cardstock; MLS papers (Park Avenue, Blue Jeans Mini Alpha Sticker, Kiss Mini Alpha Sticker); Foam Strip (Scrapbook Adhesive); Silhouette Cameo

To make this card, I used Silhouette Cameo to cut the window, popped up the window panes with foam strip. Somehow, I equate looking out the window to missing someone. Anyone of you had same feelings??

"Riding By..." Card

Carolcard3

Supplies: MLS papers (Chocolate and Chiffon from Lovely Day collection; Park Avenue, Soaring Above, Urban Green, Cardstock Sticker, Honey Dew Muse Cardstock Alpha Sticker, Blue Jeans Mini Alpha Sticker); Foam Strip (Scrapbook Adhesive)

I love to mat each layer of papers with cardstock as it really gives depth to the whole card. Ioutline the mini alpha stickers to make it pop out too.

Carolcard3b

Journal card is really a great way to embellish a card. I simply add the alpha stickers, outline them and viola, its done.

"Home Sweet Home" Card

Carolcard4

Supplies: Bazzill Yellow Cardstock; MLS papers (Soaring Above, Park Avenue, Cardstock Sticker, Blue Jeans Mini Alpha Sticker; Chocolate and Chiffon from Lovely Day collection, Kiss Mini Alpha Sticker); Foam Strip (Scrapbook Adhesive); Fiskars Punch

I love the cute house stickers!! Can't seem to get enough of them. And what's Coming Home without the Home Sweet Home!! :)

"Love" Card

Carolcard5

Supplies: Bazzill White Cardstock; MLS papers (Park Avenue, 3D Roll Up Flowers and Accents, Blue Jeans Mini Alpha Sticker); Foam Strip (Scrapbook Adhesive); Ranger Stickles (Star Dust); Distress Inks; Spellbinders Die

I love this card. My favourite among the 5 cards!!! Simply because I love flowers and 3D stuff!!!

Thats all for today. Hope you will be inspired to create!! Thanks for dropping by.

'Oh Deer' Paper Piecing Tutorial

Hello There

Today I have a little technique using the new My Little Shoebox and Unity stamps.

These stamps are perfect for paper piecing to create little 3D toppers.

032

Here's How

First choose about 5 sheets of patterned paper, ink up the mushroom stamp and stamp the image on to each piece of paper.  Here I am using the papers from the ‘Oh Deer’ collection.

008

Cut out different sections of the mushrooms as shown.  Make sure you have one of the whole image cut out.

009

Layer up the mushroom caps as shown in the photo below finishing with the middle orange one which is put on with some foam pads.

014

Add the little cut out heart and dots from the larger mushroom with foam pads as well.

  016

Cut a piece of card to 8cm x 22cm piece of card stock and score and fold at 1.5cm, 3cm and 12.5cm.  Cover with paper and add the mushrooms to the front section.

Cut off the top section of one of the journal cards as shown and snip into it to create grass.  Attach to the card.

020

032

Cut out some clouds and owl from the Vintage Shop collection and add to the back of the card.

Stamp ‘you make me … mushy’ on to one of the flags from the Oh Deer 3D flowers and add to the card.

028

I hope this inspires you to get creative with some of the other new MLS stamps

Have a creative day

Beckie :)

Crafting with Vintage Shop

Good Morning MLS fans! Megan here kicking off another week of inspiration on the MLS blog.

This month I worked with Vintage shop. With all the adorable owls, I knew I wanted to make a bird house.  I picked up this wooden birdhouse with a metal top on the clearance rack at Michael's for about $.70 !

I measured the areas that I wanted to cover then trimmed the paper to fit. I like to err on the side of larger and then trim down slowly to get an exact, or close to exact, fit. I had painted the edges first with a light brown paint, just in case any edges ended up showing.

For the holes in the front, I just covered them over, then located them by feel and used a file to file the paper all the way around. for the posts, I pulled them out before covering, then located the holes by feel and poked them with the file also.

I used dimensional adhesive behind the flower cluster and the cloud, so that they could overhang the edge. Again for the wire hanger, I pulled it out before covering and then poked it back in afterward. I often find with altered items that it's easiest to start by removing anything you possibly can, even if it means pulling out nails, screws or glue. As long as it wont ruin the object, you can put it back on afterward and save yourself some hassle trying to go around it.

Supplies: Vintage Shop Papers:  Rose Ribbon, French Lace, Attic Treasures

                 Vintage Shop Stickers,

Other: Wooden birdhouse, brown paint, dimensional adhesive, Mod Podge

I also created this layout. Here I used the fun new Unity/My Little Shoebox stamps and embossed them on the background. I also used some mist and a mask to create the chevron pattern.

Other than that, I used a LOT of die cuts and stickers here. I just love the new die cuts with the leaves and the little banners.

Fluttering Into Fall with Secret Garden

Hello MLS Fans! It's Robyn with you today to share the projects I've been creating with the beautiful Secret Garden collection. I'm a self-professed butterfly-fanatic, so this collection is right up my alley.

I've had this small shadowbox tray laying around for a while, and I noticed that the black wood was a great contrast with the soft colors in the papers. So I went to work creating a mini book that would fit into the large 4" x 6" opening.

  Shadowbox1-secretgarden-600px

I cut the 12x12 papers to 3-7/8" strips and scored and folded them in half to create the book. I punched holes at the fold and used a strip of sheer ribbon to bind it. Then I used edge punches to create the stepped edges for each page.

  Shadowbox2-secretgarden-600px

The first page has a cut out frame that shows through to the photo on the next page. I dusted some baby powder on the backs of the stickers so they wouldn't stick to the photo underneath.

One of the pages is cut a bit shorter to provide a flip up journaling spot.

 Shadowbox4-secretgarden-600px

I embellished with the cardstock stickers and a few strands of trims.

I used smaller versions of my favorite photos and a scrap of patterned paper to fill in the remaining smaller spaces in the shadowbox.

I also created two cards with this collection. One was for the blog hop we did with Unity Stamp Company, so you might have seen it already, but the butterfly background stamp is so cute that I just have to post it again...

And finally, I decided to make the most of the butterfly motif by cutting a 3D butterfly shape from one of the patterned papers to create this card.

Tadpoles, Bouquets and Notebook

Good Morning, Beckie here to show you some creations I made with the adorable 'Notebook' range.

The papers in this collection are fabulous but I have to say I am loving the pink plaid paper especially ;)

On this layout I used the bunting below my photos to create a border.  I then added some twine to make it look as though the bunting is suspended from it.

Products Used : Notebook - Always and Forever, Truly Yours, Bits and Pieces, Notebook 3D flowers, cardstock stickers, Muse Cardstock sticker Blue Hydrangea, Mini Alphabet Red Lipstick

Other Products Used : Twinery Bakers Twine

The next layout is using a photo I took at a wedding where I managed to take the picture of her stunning bouquet.

The colours of the Notebook papers and the 3D flowers complement the photo perfectly.

Creating the greeting on this birthday card was made by cutting up the Always and Forever paper for the 'Happy'  the rest is the new muse alphabets and mini alphabets.

I covered the card in the plaid paper and stamp a flourish on the left hand side and heat embossed it with gold embossing powder.

I then cut another another shoe in a different piece of paper to create the 'shoe' before decorating with some of the 3D flowers, ribbon and cardstock stickers.

I hope you are inspired to get creative, have a wonderful day

Beckie :)

Scrapbooking with Cherry Delight and more

Hello MLS fans. Shemaine here posting today's inspiration. This month I am creating with the Cherry Delight collection and it's one of my favorites of our 6 new releases. I love the colors and patterns in this collection.

Scrapbooking with Cherry Delight is so easy. It's not hard to pair photos or themes with the soft color palette. For my layout I wanted to document the day of my daughter's first school pictures.

Picture Day

Shemainelo

I misted some Wilton doilies with Glimmer Mist and then layered them behind my photo. I also cut out the doiles from Bliss and layered them over the doilies.

Supplies:

Patterend paper: Bliss, Serenade, Happy Times

Cardstock Stickers: Cherry Delight

Muse cardstock alphabet stickers: Firecracker

Mini Alpha Sticker: Kiss

Next I wanted to share a great gift idea with you. With the holidays coming up I am always searching for handmade gift ideas for family and friends.

So I was thinking a hanging wall calendar would be cute. I needed to find some printables to use as my calendar so I searched on Google. I found some adorable Kokeshi doll free printable desk calendars at CreativeMamma.com.

I used a Clear Scraps Acrylic album cover as a base for my wall calendar.

Shemaineproject1

Since the Clear Scraps Acrylic 8x8 album already has holes it was easy to use the Seambinding from our trims Baby Doll collection to hang the calendar.

Shemaineproject5

Once I created the base for the calendar it was easy to use the rest of the collection to embellish it.

I cut an 8x8 sheet of the Bliss patterned paper and laid it on my mat. Then I coated the back side of the Acrylic album using a small Martha Stewart paint brush with Gloss Mod Podge and placed it over the sheet of patterned paper with the print I wanted facing up. Once it was secure,  I then turned the album face down and using a paper towel, smoothed the paper onto the album to ensure the entire page stuck to the album and did not have bubbles or lumps. This technique makes my paper show thru the Acrylic and protects the pattern.

Shemaineproject2

Next I misted some Wilton doilies {found at Michaels in the baking section} with some Glimmer Mist and used the iCraft Adhesive from Therm O Web to mount the doilies to the Acrylic page.

Shemaineproject3

I love that the Therm O Web iCraft adhesive mounted the doily flat and was super easy to use.

Shemaineproject4

Next I assembled my calendar base. I used brads to secure the calendars so I can easily tear away October to reveal November at the end of the month. I can also easily replace with a 2013 calendar when ready.

Shemaineproject6

Then I used Therm O Web foam squares to mount my calendar to the Acrylic base.

Shemaineproject5

The rest was easy to decorate with Recollections bling and Cardstock sticker elements from the Cherry Delight collection.

Supplies:

Patterned paper: Bliss, Happy Times, Serenade.

Cardstock Sticker: Cherry Delight

MLS Trim: Baby Doll

Misc: Recollections rhinestone swirls. Wilton doilies

I hope you found some inspiration here today. Thanks for making the My Little Shoebox blog a part of your day!
