Ring in the New Year

Ready to ring in the new year? Today I have a few New Years Eve rink-e-dinks to share with you using My Little Shoebox's Keepsake collection. I chose this collection because of its great colors and prints.

This hanging decoration is made to look like a clock. I used Keepsake's round die cut sheets (3 of them), folded them accordion style and put them all together. It's a large decoration, about 12 inches round and its going to look great hanging from the ceiling.

We have a tradition in my house that at midnight we let our children make as much noise as possible either with their voices or noise makers (which are often the same thing;)). I bought a package of party horns and altered them by covering them with My Little Shoebox paper and stickers.
And finally, a simple card to wish you all a Happy New Year. May 2013 be the best ever!

Playing with Backgrounds

281526_10151139668589317_88322833_n
Hello, MLS fans! It's Robyn here with you today. Hope you've had a wonderful holiday season and found some crafty time here and there.

Whenever I find a few extra minutes, I switch on my Silhouette and start playing with the shapes I've downloaded over the past year (about 300!). One of my favorites is a trellis background. I decided to see how it would mix with the Secret Garden collection from My Little Shoebox.

1stwalk-600px

I set the background to cut at about 10x10, then layered it onto the polka dot background paper. But it still needed something, so I used the pieces that were the "holes" to fill in spaces here and there. Some of them I flipped to the reverse side.

I found that I liked some order in the pattern, so I alternated the front and back of the paper in diagonal lines to create the background for the layout.

1stwalk-det-600px

I love the finished product -- the cut paper gives it a textured look and the mixed patterns remind me of a quilt piecing.

Many wishes for a happy 2013!

Coming Home Layout

Hi Jenifer here with you today to share a fun quick layout with you.  I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday and can sit back and relax now that the hustle and bustle is over.

My layout is a quick and easy one.  I cut out a circle and then used a border punch a few trips of the same patterned paper then cut them out and re-glued them back on the circle to create a fun border.  I used the Coming Home collection, and just like all of the other collections it is so easy to write out some quick journaling and place some foam squares on the chipboard stickers and you come out with a lovely but quick layout:)

Dear Friend card set *Oh Deer! collection*

Hi friends. Grace here. Hope you all had a great Christmas. Now it's time to unwind. Looking for something fun to do today? How about make a card set for a special friend.

Hope this set inspires you on your next card set....

Deer Friend card set

Deer friend card set (1)

One of the things I've been doing a lot of lately with my card making is to make card sets. I've had friends come up to me and had been asking to buy my cards so sometimes I put together coordinated sets that I give them as a gift. This way they have a bunch to use and they're all coordinated.

I think the best part of using a collection in making your card sets is that the prints and accents all match together. No need to rummage through a bunch of supplies to create these babies!

Here are some more close-ups of my cards....

Perpetual Tag Calendar with Notebook

I have been loving working with the Notebook line and I wanted to do something with all the journaling cards. At this time of year, I often think about calendars, but I wanted something a little different. So, I made this perpetual calendar - to keep track of birthdays and anniversaries that occur in each month. These journaling cards are just perfect. There is plenty of space for about 10-15 events, depending on how small you write and how big your family is.

MAaron_My_Little_Shoebox_Tag_Book_1

This book came together pretty quickly. I cut all the pages out of cardstock using my cricut. Then I cut more of the same size tags out of some of the patterned papers using my cricut. I took those patterned paper tags and cut them apart into a top, bottom and middle. I used the top and bottom on the front of a cardstock tag, and the middle on the back, to provide interest. Since they had been cut to the same size, there was no need to trim or anything.

MAaron_My_Little_Shoebox_Tag_Book

I matted the journaling cards on white cardstock and then machine sewed them to a slightly larger block of contrasting patterned paper to give a little bit of added interest. The sewing was the part that took the longest, but I love the look. It's flat, so the book can close, but it adds dimension and texture.

MAaron_My_Little_Shoebox_Tag_Book_2

Finally, I added the titles for each page in mini alphas on die cuts using dimensional foam tape. Again, the foam tape gives a little bit of dimension without a lot of bulk. A few more stickers here and there complete the look.

Here are all the pages.

A little holiday cheer with Secret Garden

Me

Hello MLS friends. Today I sharing some holiday inspiration using out Secret Garden collection.

I love making holiday tags so I thought I would take some tags and embellish them into holiday tags using bits and pieces of things I have in my stash.

Merry Christmas to you

Shemainetag1

For this tag I added a doily for a shabby chic look and an Anna Griffin foil sentiment. The bird is Melissa Frances and some Prima roses. The ribbon is from Michaels and so is the adhesive glitter star.

Tree tag

Shemainetag3

The tree die is the main focus of this tag. I used 3D foam to adhere it to the base of the tag and tied some of the green seam binding from the Oh Deer! collection.

Shemainetag2

For this tag I used another foil sentiment from Anna Griffin and a Tattered Angels frame. I made a flag and traced the outline in glitter and finished with seambinding and a star from Melissa Frances.

Tag4

For this tag I used another doily and 3D embellishment from Anna Griffin. I finished with seam binding and a button from the French General.

Shemainetagsall

These all turned out so pretty and soft. Perfect for kraft paper packaging! I hope you'll give some a try.

Now before I go I have a few cards to share too!

Thank you

Thank you

For this card I used the Dorothy paper and a Tattered Angels frame along with some Prima flowers and our cardstock stickers. The sentiment is from Papertray Ink.

Happy Birthday

Shemainecard1

For this card I used the La Petite paper and the Co-branded Unity Stamp Co Owl image. I also added a doily, Martha Stewart deep edge punch, ruler embellie and pins from Maya Road and Happy Birthday sentiment from Hero Arts. Misc: leaves punch

That's it for me today. Thanks for stopping by to spend part of your day with us.

Have a great day.

Grace's Secret Garden Projects

Hello MLS friends. Hope you are all doing well this winter day. And I hope that you guys are are all prepared for Christmas and is now in the "enjoying" phase. I know for me I have intentionally changed my preparations and what kind of "traditions" I want to really fulfill this season because I know that if I try to do it all, it will just stress me out.

And what do you do to de-stress? Mine of course is papercrafting! Here are some examples of my latest projects using the new Secret Garden collection. They have such happy prints on them and I got a bit crazy with the die cut shapes. *wink*

Scrapp Queen Plaque

Scrap queen plaque (1)

I found a wood plaque at my local thrift store and decided to dress it up so I can use it as a decoration in my scrapbook room. I made the title cut from my die cut machine using two solid colored papers from My Little Shoebox and layered it to create the two-toned look. I then used the rolled die cut flowers to add some dimensional embellishments in my wood plaque. I also added some stickers from the Secret Garden collection to give it a finished look. Now it’s all ready to be displayed!

Happy Birthday card

Happy birthday vintage shop (1)

I used a scallop die cut made from my die cut machine in the center of my card to hold my title. I added some stickers around it to create dimension and texture. I added some pen stitching around the card to ground the design.

Supplies Used:

Cardstock- Walmart; Pattern papers- (11858, Cricket and Lagoon) Happy Go Lucky; (50024 La Petite, 50022 Sweetie, 50023, bonbons) Secret Garden; Die cut- 50025 3D Roll up flower and accents, Secret Garden; Stickers- 50026 Cardstock Sticker; 50151, Kiss, Mini Alphabet Sticker; Pearls- Want2Scrap; Die cut machine- Cricut; Cartridge- Mother’s Day Bouquet; Pen- Creative Memories; Adhesives- Creative Memories, Glue Arts

Tuesday Tutorial

Me

Hello MLS fans. It's Tuesday and that means another fun tutorial from our team. Today I am sharing some fun ideas for our roll up flowers.

I love to emboss and ink paper so it's only natural that I wanted to try embossing our die cut flowers.

I punched them out from the sheet and chose an embossing folder.

Photo1

Next I added some ink

Photo2

Then I rolled them up and used hot glue to secure them.

Flowers3

Now you just need to add them to your card or layout and the results are really nice. I added some stickles to the outline of the vines in our leaves to make them stand out.

Flowercard

Thanks for stopping by the MLS blog today. We love seeing what you create with My Little Shoebox products so please share your creations with us over on our Facebook wall.

Have a great day.

Card gift set with Notebook

46178_10151139667994317_665158483_n

This month I was working with the Notebook line. I made this fun little card gift set to give to one of my daughter's teachers. I used the journaling cards cut from the Bits and Pieces paper as a starting point for the cards, then matted them, stamped and embellished.

MAaron_My_Little_Shoebox_Notebook_Card_Set

For the envelope holder, I used my Cricut and cut a tag envelope from the tags, bags, boxes and more cartridge.

MAaron_My_Little_Shoebox_Notebook_Card_Set_1

Some foam tape adds dimension without bulk, so the cards still fit inside the envelope.

MAaron_My_Little_Shoebox_Notebook_Card_Set_2

The coordinating die cuts and stickers made these cards come together super quick!

Mixing It Up with Oh Deer!

281526_10151139668589317_88322833_n
Hello, MLS friends! It's Robyn with you today to share my projects with the Oh Deer! collection.

Each year, we spend Thanksgiving at a cabin on the lake, and I always take some photos of the girls. It's interesting to see how they change from year to year. I love this photo I snapped of my youngest daughter, and it worked perfectly with the papers.

Beautyinsideandout-layout-600px

I mixed a lot of different edges on this layout, including the die-cut border strip and the woodgrain tag sticker. I also used an edge punch with pink cardstock to add another detail to the page.

A couple of strands of twine, looped loosely through the tag, created yet another shape. I used a tiny glue dot behind each loop to hold them in place.

Beauty-detail-600px

For my next project, I decided to alter a journal I purchased from the clearance bin at Staples a while back. It had a really bright green cover, which was easy enough to cover up with the Oh Deer! papers and stickers.

Journal-project-600px

I used washi to cover the binding and finished it with a paper clip and seam binding trim.

Journal-detail-600px

Oh, and that polka dot scalloped circle in the background? It's one of the roll-up flowers from the die-cut sheet. (You don't ALWAYS have to roll them up!)

Hope you're having a fabulous fall!

Hello My Little Shoebox Fans!

I'm so happy to see you back today as I would love to share what I've created with the fabulous "Notebook" collection.

First of all I've made a layout about my 13 yr old son's birthday.

Mliedtke mls dec layout 13

For this page I used my craft knife to carefully cut out the middle of the "With Love" sheet (not because I don't like it, but because it was just not appropriate for the layout I had in mind :) ).

Mliedtke mls dec 13 2

MLS supplies: Patterned Paper: Chocolate & Chiffon (11899), With Love (50031), Always and Forever (50032), Truly Yours (50033), Bits and Pieces (50034); 3D Roll-Up Flower and Accents (50035), Cardstock Sticker (50036); Muse Cardstock Alphabet Sticker Firecracker (50101) and Newsprint (50102). Other supplies: Twine (misc.); Kraft Cardstock (American Crafts); Color Mist (Mister Huey's) and Pen (Zig Writer).

My second layout is about my 16 year old daughter who has a tremendous crush on the boy band "One Direction". On this photo she's showing a necklace she just purchased with the text "Marry Me Harry", who is one of the 5 boys of 1D.

Happy Times with Deer and Mushrooms!

Hello MLS friends!  Linda here with some cards and an album using the cute and colorful Coming Home collection from My Little Shoebox.  The wonderful autumn  colors were delightful for scrapping the woodsy deer, trees and mushrooms - a great background for my granddaughters' pictures!

The first project I want to share with you was created with a Punky Sprouts album - absolutely perfect for this collection.

Proj1LindaNov
The front page was created using the co-branded stamp from MLS and Unity Stamps.  I used a coating of gel gloss medium with a top coating of irridescent medium on one of the MLS papers.  (My thanks to Pattie for her original idea!)

Proj2LindaNov

Here I used sume punched flower petals (misted) and some white doilies from Punky Sprouts.

Proj3LindaNov
The front and back of this canvas page from Punky Sprouts has the co-branded mushroom stamps, most of which I colored with markers.

Proj4LindaNov

Proj5LindaNov

I loved working with this album and its variety of pages!   I inked all of the edges and some of the papers.

Supplies:  MLS papers - Creekside Trail, A Walk in the Woods, Knock on Wood, Happy Campters, 3D Roll-Up Flower and Accents, Cardboard Stickers; Morning Mist Trim Pack; Chocolate Cake Mini Alphabet Letters; Punky Sprouts Album and papers; Co-Branded stamps from MLS and Unity; Tattered Angels Mist; several laces and ribbons.

I would also like to share with you two cards I made using the Coming Home collection.

Card2LindaNov

My first "mushy" card was distressed using MLS papers and the co-branded MLS and Unity stamps.  I colored the mushrooms with ink markers, and tied it with red ribbon to add a bold splash of color.

Supplies:  MLS papers - Knock on Wood; Co-Branded stamps, Vintage Photo Distress ink; red ribbon; colored markers.

Card1LindaNov

For this simple card I used the darling pink deer and one of the trees as my focal points, both of which were foam dotted for emphasis.  A journaling card became the background for the little deer, and some antique lace and twine added some detail.

Supplies:  MLS papers - Creekwside Trail, Happy Campers, 3D Roll-Up Accents,  Kiss Cardstock, Cardboard Stickers; Twine from the Twinery.

I had fun creating these three projects with this sweet collection.  I hope you found some inspiration today.  Look for the MLS collections at your local scrapbook stores and create your own wonderful projects!  Thanks for joining us today!

Tuesday Tutorial - Christmas Angel

Good morning, I am squeezing in a little more Christmas magic for todays tutorial.  These little angels are fun to make and can be made to stand on a side or hung on the tree.

022

First of all find a small circular shape to draw around on some pattern paper.  I used an old feeding bowl!  Choose the paper you would like to be the 'dress' and draw around on the reverse side before cutting it out.  I have used Notebook - With Love paper.

001

Next cut the circle in half.  I did this by folding it in half and cutting down the score line.

004

Ink the round edge with white pigment ink and heat emboss with gold powder.  Next take one half and wrap around to make a cone shape.

006

Take some of the gingham ribbon and sew a gathering stitch to create a circle, I have used the Coming Home Trims.

010

Secure this over the neck of the cone.

I then cut out some butterfly wings using the Xcut Decorative Die - Butterflies in the Vintage Shop - French Lace and ink the edges as before.  You can use any type of butterfly die or you could freehand cut your own.

007

I then sandwiched them together as shown below so they were stiffer.   You then need to punch out two circles and add them either side of the atenna, don't forget to add the thread for hanging!  Don't worry if any bits over hang as these can be trimmed off.

008

Glue this to the back of one of the cones tucking the tip of the cone on the inside of the two circles.  Roll up some of the Notebook - With Love paper to create some little arms and add to the cone.

Add a Christmas greeting and some Vintage Shop 3D roll up flowers along the bottom of the greeting.  Punch out some small holly leaves in the Cricket and Lagoon paper and fold in half before adding to the base of the angel.  Embellish with some red adhesive stones.

021

So there is the little Christmas Angel for you.

I hope you have fun making your own.

Enjoy your day

Christmas Cheer with Cherry Delight!

Hi everyone.  Pattie here with some cards that I created using the super sweet Cherry Delight paper line.  Cherry Delight is a fun line with shades of red, green, pink, wait a minute- sounds like I can create some Christmas cards.  I love it when I can use product in a different way!  So this month, 3 of my 5 cards are Christmas inspired.

Here  is my first card that I created:

On this first card, I punched out three circles to create this tree.  I just folded the circle in half, then half again, stacked them and glued them together.  Quick, fun, lots of dimension, but still easy to send in the mail. Sounds like a win-win :)

Card4-pattiebeltran

Supplies used: Cherry Delight: Bliss, Happy Times, Morning Mist trim, Chocolate & Chiffon Double sided Cardstock Paper

In this second card, I used the now retired My Little Shoebox/ Unity Stamp Co. co-branded snowflake stamp set to create a fun winter card.
Card5-pattiebeltran

Supplies used: Cherry Delight: Charming, Serenade, Happy Times

And my last holiday card is just a simple wish of Joy to all during this holiday season.
Card3-pattiebeltran

Supplies used: Cherry Delight: Charming, Happy Times, 3D Roll up Flowers & Accents, Firecracker Muse Cardstock Alphabet Sticker

This card is just a nice little Hi card.  It's always nice this time of year to send a little note to those we love and may not be able to see very often, just to let them know that you are thinking of them.
Card1-pattiebeltran

Supplies used: Cherry Delight: Bliss, Cardstock Stickers, Firecracker Muse Cardstock Alphabet Stickers, Chocolate & Chiffon Double Sided Cardstock Paper

And lastly, I made a Thank You card.  I never seem to have enough of these, especially this time of the year!
Card2-pattiebeltran

Coming Home Feeling Festive and Cozy

Hello MLS fans, today I am here to share with you some cards I have made using the Coming Home collection.

These adorable papers with little houses, trees and fluffy white clouds will inspire you to get creative .....

Beckie Dreyer Card 5

Products Used :

MLS Coming Home : Town Square, Soaring, Urban Green, 3D Flowers and Accents, Cardstock Stickers, Muse Alphabet Honey Dew

Other : Blue Ribbon

With Christmas just a few weeks away my mind is filled with all things festive so I started to see the little trees in a different 'light'.

I cut out a few of the trees and then coloured over the branches with a silver pen.  I then carried on to the leaves and created swirls and dots with the silver pen.  I placed them on to the card turning them into baubles.

Beckie Dreyer Card 3

Products Used :

MLS Coming Home : Park Avenue, Soaring, Urban Green, 3D Flowers and Accents, Cardstock Stickers, Muse Alphabet Honey Dew

For this Christmas card I used some white sparkly embossing powder to create some snow on the roofs and trees.

These papers have beautiful soft pastel colours which allow you to create girlie cards and how gorgeous is that gingham trim ... *swoon*.  I also used one of the Want 2 Scrap products I was sent for last months swap, the zig zag bling ... elegant and simple.

Card Inspiration with Notebook

Hello, Liz here today to share with you several cards I made using the Notebook collection.

I have been waiting to use the Notebook collection since it was released for summer CHA. I finally got the chance with my assignments this month and it did not disappoint. Check out how cute these papers are.

I made a unique background by layering it with a die cut which I cut from grey paper.
Products used: Notebook Truly Yours, Cardstock Stickers, Fog.
For this card I rolled several of the 3D Roll Up flowers and cut my card into a tag shape.

Products used: Notebook Always and Forever, Truly Yours, 3D Roll Up Flower and Accents, Morning Mist Trim.

When using a plain color on cards, its always a good idea to emboss the paper for added texture and interest.

Products used: Notebook Truly Yours, Cardstock Stickers, 3D Roll Up Flowers and Accents, Keepsake's Razzleberry.

Products Used: Notebook Truly Yours, Bits and Pieces, Cardstock Stickers, 3D Roll Up Flower and Accents.
I cut the large flower and vine from my die cut machine added a little bling.
Products used: Notebook Always and Forever, Truly Yours, Keepsake's Cherry.

I used every single piece of paper and scraps in this mini, one fun thing I did was use copper embossing powder around all the edges so it looks like it is soddered together.

Next up are a couple cards I made using the rest of my papers and cardstock stickers.

Mixed Media Vintage Shop

MLS Headshot

Hello, MLS fans. Today I want to share with you 3 layouts and 1 card, using the Vintage Shop collection.

Being more a mixed media person, I decided to incorporate mixed media mediums and techniques in my projects this month. A few months ago, I purchased a digital die-cut machine, Silhouette Cameo. So I will also be using Cameo to cut some images and use in my projects as well.

I loved this Vintage Shop Collection. Simply because I love vintage and I love owl image!!! Plus my favourite pink color!!

"Love Is A Canvas" Card

Carolcard1

For this clean card, I used Silhouette Cameo to cut out the tree card base. Then I doodled lines around the edges, add some banners at the bottom before adhere the Silhouette cut tree.

For the cloud stickers, I watercolored blue tint of color by mixing a little water with Faber Castell Pitt Artist Pen.

CarolCard1b

Supplies: Whie Cardstock (Bazzill); MLS (French Lace, Heirloom, Attic Treasures, 3D Roll Up Flower and Accents, Cardstock Sticker); Faber Castell Pitt Artist Pen; Fiskars Stamp; Foam Strip (Scrapbook Adhesives); Zig Pen; Silhouette Cameo

As you peek through the tree branches, you can see that I covered the inside of the card with a patterned paper and a owl sticker. I also added a journalling tag below.

"Owls Handmade" Layout

CarolLO1

My favourite cardstock color is white, kraft and black as they are so versatile. So for this layout, I used black to emphasise the night flea market pictures. I painted the background and edges with white acrylic paint. Its such a simple technique to dress up a layout on a no mojo night. So you can try it out.

I also teared up several strips of papers for the background. Note that I only used one piece of patterned paper here. So not only am I building a background simply with paint, I also save on the amount of papers and embellishments here. Sometimes you do not need alot of materials to create. And I loved that MLS paper gives me this option.

CarolLO1a

CarolLO1b

Supplies: Black cardstock (Bazzill); MLS (Rose Ribbon, Cardstock Sticker); White Acrylic Paint (Folkart); AC Thickers; Silhouette Print & Cut Designs (MLS); Edge Distressor Tool

My Little Shoe box also has some digital designs with Silhouette. So I printed these 2 flowers and sized them to my preferred size and cut them out. I used these 2 flowers as a mat for my title.

"Five Owls" Layout

CarolLO2

This is my favourite layout for this month and is dedicated to my 4 scrapbook close friends. I didn't put any photos at all here. But each owl frame represent one person. I made these frames with Martha Stewart molds and clay. Well, the five of us loved owls, hence the name "Five Owls". Meaning we called ourselves owls. Ha ha...

CarolLO2a

To create the background, I used Unity/MLS co-branded stamps, adhered some mini alpha stickers with multi-medium and misted over with Tattered Angels mists. Then I adhered strips of papers before adding the owl frames.

CarolLO2b

Supplies: MLS (Attic Treasures, Rose Ribbon, Heirloom, French Lace, 3D Roll Up Flower and Accents, Mini Alpha Stickers (Chocolate Cake, Cream, Kiss), Blue Hydrangea Muse Cardstock Alpha Sticker); Unity Stamp (MLS, feelin owl-y); Martha Stewart Molds and Clay; Lace; Pearls;AC Thickers; Ranger Stickles; Swarovski Crystals; Archival Ink (Sepia); Tattered Angels Mists; Edge Distressor Tool; Distress Inks; Zig Pen; Mulberry Flowers; Claudine Hellmuth Multi-Medium; Owls Digital Cliparts; Foam Strip (Scrapbook Adhesives)

I also added lace and rolled flowers and mulberry flowers and pearls. I love this feminine touch. Well, we are lady owls after all!

"Make & Take" Layout

CarolLO3

To build up the design for the edges, I adhered the Muse Cardstock Alpha Stickers and mini paper clips with multi-medium before I misted them. Then I added the mixtures of texture paste, glass bead gels and acrylic paints unto a circles mask.

I layered the background with few edge-punched papers before I added photos and embellishments.

CarolLO3a

Note that I added another pop up layer of Muse Cardstock Alpha Sticker for the title. I love chipboard shapes. And here, I painted randomly the mixture of texture paste, glass bead gel and acrylic paints unto the chipboard borders too. Then I added some seed beads and swarovski crystals to it.

CarolLO3b

Here are more pictures of the last layout.

CarolLO3c

CarolLO3d

Supplies: White and Brown Cardstock (Bazzill); MLS (Rose Ribbon, French Lace, Heirloom, Muse Cardstock Alpha Sticker (Strawberry Frosting, Newsprint, Blue Hydrangea); Chipboard Shapes (Dusty Attic); Martha Stewart Molds and Clay; Tim Holtz Mini Paper Clips; Mulberry Flowers; Swarovski Crystals; Seed Beads; Texture Paste (Daler Rowney); Glass Bead Gel (Golden); Acrylic Paints (Folkart and Golden); Claudine Hellmuth Multi-Medium; Tattered Angels Mists; Studio Calico Mask; Zig Pen; Decorative Punches (EK Success and Martha Stewart); Foam Strips (Scrapbook Adhesives)
