Cards On Thursdays

CARDS ON THURSDAYS

Are you ready to see some more creative cards from our Card Designers? We have a great variety of cards to share with you today!

GretchenMcElveen_Love you_card

"Love You" card, by Gretchen McElveen.

For the 2 cards that I made today, I wanted to try to add a little something to the inside of the card too rather than just embellishing the outside. How much more fun is a card to open when there is something pretty inside too! On this first card, I added a flower border to the inside of the card. The border coordinates with the patterned paper on the outside of the card and I added a little bling to a few of the flowers. Then I added a simple sentiment. Done!

"You Are Wonderful" card, by Gretchen McElveen.

On this next card I jazzed up the inside by adding the same pink heart border from the front of the card to the inside of the card along with a simple sentiment. I thought the pink hearts looked great against the gray background. By the way, I am loving purple lately! Can you tell?!

DeannaMisner_MakingMemories_Maycard

"Making Memories" card, by Deanna Misner.

I thought this card would be perfect for as a part of a hostess gift or a play date thank you card. Really, the sentiment is so versatile that you could use it in a variety of ways depending on what you write on the inside of the card. And I'm still head-over-heels in love with this line! "Sunshine & Happiness" is my absolute favorite Bella Blvd line, it just makes me so happy!

Supplies:
Sunshine & Happiness: Petal Power, Juicy Good Time, Just Write Journaling Stickers, Miniature Stickers; Ciao Chip Elements: Clouds; Designer Tape: Red Dot; Button Market: Masculine Mix

DeannaMisner_ThankYou_Maycard

"Thank you" card, by Deanna Misner.

I can never really have enough thank you cards, and ladybugs are one of my favorite motifs. So I thought I'd combine the two to make a "hey lady...thank you" type card. In the end I dropped the "hey lady" part from my sentiment and layered the flags instead. One thing I really like to do on my cards is to cluster a variety of product. This card is definitely an example of that. From the 3D foam adhesive base to the chipboard, wooden button, and flags...this card has a little bit of everything I think.

Supplies:
Sunshine & Happiness: Playdate, Borders, Just Write Journaling Stickers, Ciao Chipboard; Button Market: Purple Flora; Flags: Thank You, Girl

GailHoecker_Pregnancy_CongratsBaby_card

“Congrats” grey card, by Gail Hoecker.

If I had to describe my style it would probably be clean and simple. Now, I don't want you to get the wrong idea. These first two cards probably took me hours to come up with the ideas. I go through a lot of paper and stickers before I come up with something I actually want to turn in for my project. I just know I'm happiest when my cards are clean and simple! For my first “Congrats” card, I used one of the new Just Married flags and attached it to a large monogram "B". Add a little ribbon and few letter stickers and call it a day!

Supplies:
We're Expecting: Coming Soon; Baby Boy: Momma's Boy; High Five Alpha Stickers: Yellow; Flags: Just Married

GailHoecker_WereExpecting_Congrats_card

“Congrats” yellow card, by Gail Hoecker.

For the yellow "Congrats" card I broke out the circle punches. I love those punches, and afer punching some circles of pattern paper, I used some brown chalk ink around the edges. I added a couple stickers, popped one up and there you are, done!

Supplies:
We're Expecting: Coming Soon, Miniatures Stickers; Baby Boy: Baby Blue, Wild About You, Alpha+Bits; Sunshine & Happiness: Popsicle Kisses

GailHoecker_BabyBoy_WelcomeBabyBoy_card

“Welcome Baby Boy” card, by Gail Hoecker.

Have you ever had a paper in your collection that is always calling your name? I do, it's Popsicle Kisses from the Sunshine & Happiness collection that I made the tag from. I just love the simple pattern that goes with everything and gives your project that perfect pop of color! I cut the monkey from the Baby Boy Cute Cuts and popped it up on that "perfect" pop of color tag!  This was really a fun card to make.

Supplies:
Baby Boy: It's a Boy, Momma's Boy, Borders, Cute Cuts, Alpha+Bits; Sunshine & Happiness: Happy Clouds, Popsicle Kisses; High Five Alpha Stickers: Blue

Layouts On Wednesday

WEDNESDAY LAYOUTS

We have another round of free-for-all layouts from our Layout Designers. Let's see what they created for us this week!

MeganKlauer_BaseballBuddies

“Baseball Buddies”, by Megan Klauer.

In order to create some depth on my layout I first punched 3 large stars from the black card stock. Using a marker, I then traced the stars onto the base paper {Wall of Fame} so I knew right where to add the designer tape stripes. Add the black card stock back over top & you have a unique look for your stars. A simple technique that can be used with multiple punches and a variety of tapes or paper stripes!

BrookStewart_FieldDay1_layout

“Field Day”, by Brook Stewart.

The grid side from the Family Dynamics Quadrants paper is one of my go-to background papers these days! I thought it fit perfectly with the Making the Team line and the photos of my guy on his school Field Day. For this layout, I decided how I wanted my photos arranged first and that paper strips and strips of the Designer Tape would work best layered behind them and it came together pretty quickly!

LoredanaBucaria_Happiness

“Happiness”, by Loredana Bucaria.

Summer is arriving here, even if in the last week we had a lot of rainy days! I need to use colorful embellishments and papers to feel good! For this page I have created 4 little rectangle cards where I have inserted tape and photos and embellishments. I have used the crochet flowers like some dots in a list. I love these so little and cute flowers! I have created 4 sections in four different colors as well and I think that this combination is really cute! Very simple page that catches your eyes on the photos! Have a wonderful day making art!

MelissaStinson_SunshineAndHappiness_AtTheLake_Layout

"At The Lake", by Melissa Stinson.
{A Winter CHA Project}

I had one thing (and only one thing!) in mind when I made this layout - layering on lots of fun, bright colors! The Sunshine & Happiness line is just filled with them, and they were the perfect way to document this sweet moment between my niece and her parents while we were hanging out at the lake one day near the end of the summer. I love how well the line pairs up with the Designer Tapes, too, and I used the Pink Stripe pattern to add even more color to the page.

Altered Project Shares

ALTERED PROJECTS

It's been a while since we shared some altered projects, hasn't it? Well, today we have a few fun ideas to share with you. We have an altered idea binder, an altered pencil/art carrier and clipboard, and a pair of altered wooden boxes.

Jennifer edwardson - Altered Binder 1

Altered Idea Binder, by Jennifer Edwardson.

I've always been one of those girls that would see something in a magazine and have to rip it out and tuck it away for later. Once I got married and had children, the types of things I tear out have changed to house plans and decorating ideas, etc. I've had this fun 'russel & hazel' binder for a few months now and I decided it was the perfect way to collect all my magazine pages, cut outs and layout/project ideas too!

Jennifer edwardson - Altered Binder 2

The binding was perfectly me already; black & white, so I just needed to embellish the plain kraft cover and make a little color magic happen inside.

Jennifer edwardson - Altered Binder 3

I used two different Bella papers on the front but left a space in between to make a word border.  I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the Quattrofina and High Five alphas, and the smallest letters were perfect to add some of my favorite words to the cover. I added 12" border stickers horizontally and one running top to bottom along the left edge to pull it all together.

Jennifer edwardson - Altered Binder 9

Once I had the base in place, I wrapped some twine close to the spine and added a crochet flower and a couple of flags to finish it off.

Jennifer edwardson - Altered Binder 5

I had a few different idea sections that I wanted to use this binder for so using a few more patterned papers, I created page dividers and added Chip Essentials for the tabs.

Jennifer edwardson - Altered Binder 8

Jennifer edwardson - Altered Binder 4

For times when I'm on the go and just want to add bits that I've taken from magazines for later, I added envelopes to the face of the page dividers so I can keep them safe until I have time to add them to a page permanently. Of course I had to pretty these up as well so I used Designer Tape, cardstock stickers, Ciao Chip and alphas too.

Jennifer edwardson - Altered Binder 10

Supplies:
Mr. Boy: Heros, Hyper Stripe; Family Dynamix: Quadrants, Ciao Chip; Sunshine & Happiness: Alphas+Bits, Ciao Chip; Baby Boy: Baby Blue, Alphas+Bits; Too Cute to Spook: Itsy Bitsy Spider; Making The Team: Quadrants; Sophisticates: Sprinkles & Lace Oyster; Flags: Girl, Summer; Crochet Flowers: Juniper; Ciao Chip Essentials: Asparagus & Pickle Juice, Ice & Chlorine, Oyster & Oreo; Quattrofina: Spinach & Pickle Juice, Salt Water & Pacific, Milk & Oreo; High Five Alphabets: Green, Blue, Black & White; Designer Tape: Teal Stripe, Pickle Juice Dot, Jail Bird

MJHamel_Coloring station_AlteredArt_1

Altered Coloring Station, by Marie-Josée Hamel.

Summer is coming and given that I have six weeks off, I will surely work on a few scrapbooking projects. However, since the best thing about summer is the nice, warm and sunny weather, I don’t want to stay inside. So I had this idea of creating a small portable coloring station that I can bring outside, on the pool deck, while I watch my daughter.

MJHamel_Coloring station_AlteredArt_2

It is very easy to carry and holds all the supplies I need to color a few stamped images using Prismacolor pencils and taltin. All I have to do is clip the pre-stamped image on my tiny clipboard and I am ready to start coloring.

MJHamel_Coloring station_AlteredArt_4

I started by painting the pen holder and the tiny clipboard with acrylic paint, and then adhered paper to all surfaces to add a bit of color. I finished both with a coat of Mod Podge. When I was done, I also added a few embellishments. I am now ready to go outside to do some coloring.

Supplies:
Spring Fling and Easter Things: A Tisket A Tasket, Cute Cuts, Sunny Sunday, Alpha+Bits Stickers, Chipboard Icons

LauraVegas_BabyBoy_AlteredBox

"Baby" altered wooden box, by Laura Vegas.

One of my favorite items to alter are wooden and paper mache boxes. They are so easy to cover with whatever pattern papers you like to fit your needs, and they're even more fun to fill up with memorabilia. I altered two wooden boxes, using the Baby Boy collection. These boxes would be perfect for storing little keepsakes from baby's first year. This first box is about 8 inches square, and was purchased at a craft and fabric store.

LauraVegas_BabyBoy_AlteredBox3

I started off by taking off the hinges from the box, and then I painted the box with white acrylic paint. I never sand my boxes, but that's a personal preference. Then I measure out the top of the lid, and the sides of the box, and cut my patterned papers to size. I used Mod Podge, and decoupage them to the box. I added another layer of Mod Podge on top of the papers as well, to give the box a nice shiny finish.

LauraVegas_BabyBoy_AlteredBox4

When it came to embellishing the box, I kept it pretty simple. I didn't want anything to bulky on the top of the box, since at some point, I'm sure this would end up tucked away somewhere. I cut a few banner shaped pieces from patterned paper, and added them to the top of the box. I wanted to keep a bit of dimension, so I did not decoupage those pieces, and instead just used lots of glue dots.

LauraVegas_BabyBoy_AlteredBox2

For once, I got smart and I made sure the hinges were on the sides of the box. This way, the box can sit on a shelf nicely. I used lots of chipboard pieces from the Chipboard Icons to embellish the top of the box. Love how one package of embellishments added so much to the project.

LauraVegas_BabyBoy_AlteredBox5

Supplies:
Baby Boy: Wild About You, Heaven Sent, On The Go, Borders, Chipboard Icons, Alpha+Bits Stickers

LauraVegas_BabyLove_AlteredBox

"Baby Love" altered wooden box, by Laura Vegas.

For my second wooden box, I choose a smaller version of the first box. This box is about 5 inches square, and I thought the inset area on the top of the box added a nice touch.

LauraVegas_BabyLove_AlteredBox2

I covered this box the same way I did on the first box. Painting the box with white paint, measuring and cutting my patterned papers to fit, and decoupaging them onto the box using Mod Podge. The "Baby Love" sticker from the Just Write Journaling sticker sheet was the perfect size for the inside area on the top of the box. I adhered the sticker to cardstock first, and cut around it, and then adhered it using pop dots for just a touch of dimension.

Bella Blvd Fabric Style

BLOG-RILEY BLAKE AND BELLA BLVD

Bella Blvd partnered up with Riley Blake Designs a while back, to bring some of Bella's most popular collections into the fabric world. We are excited to announce that the first collection, Sunny Happy Skies, is available for purchase, in both cottons and flannels. We have a few fabric experts and seamstress's working with the new fabrics, and designing fun projects that we will be sharing with you here!

Riley Blake Designs markets our fabrics under Stephanie Hunt as the designer. When purchasing or searching the Riley Blake website, it's actually easier & more efficient to find the Bella Blvd fabrics under "Stephanie Hunt" as the artist.

BETH GERLACH COUCH

Sunny Happy Skies Pillows, by Beth Gerlach.

I made two throw pillows using the pink and blue Sunny Happy Skies fabrics. I purchased two throw pillows from a local thrift store for $1.50 each, cut the fabric off, and used the pillow form for the filling and the fabric as a pattern.

BETH GERLACH BLUE PILLOW1

I cut two squares of Sunny Happy Skies floral fabric, using the pillow form as a quide on the sizing, to create the main part of the pillow.

BETH GERLACH BLUE PILLOW3

I ripped the blue Lace fabric in 2 inch strips to get the frayed look, and then I ruffled the strips.

BETH GERLACH BLUE PILLOW2

I then sewed the strips diagonally on the blue square of Sunny Happy Skies floral fabric.

BETH GERLACH PINK PILLOW1

I used the same idea for the pink pillow. I cut two squares of pink Sunny Happy Skies floral fabric, and I ripped strips of the pink Lace fabric. I then sewed the strips onto the Sunny Happy Skies fabric, but vertically this time.

BETH GERLACH PINK PILLOW2

I then sewed the two squares, for each pillow, together (putting right sides together), leaving about an 8" opening on one side. I then flipped the squares rightside out and stuffed the pillow form inside, and stitched the opening shut.

BETH GERLACH LAMP1

Sunny Happy Skies Fabric Lampshade, by Beth Gerlach.

I also created a ruffled lamp shade, using the same idea as the pillows. I purchased this basic white lampshade at Marshall's. Again, I ripped the yellow Sunny Happy Skies fabric in 2" strips and ruffled it. I then hot glued the ruffle onto the shade right down the center of the ruffles. It was super easy and barely took any time to make.

We hope you are all having a wonderful Memorial Day weekend, and having a chance to spend it with family and friends. Today is all about commemorating the military men and woman who died to protect our nation's freedom. We celebrate their courage, their fortitude, their willingness to serve. And we salute the courage of those they have left behind — family, friends, and fellow soldiers. For the courage to persevere despite their sorrow, we stand together as a grateful nation and give thanks.

Saturday Sketches

SATURDAY SKETCHES

Twice a month, we'll be bringing you a new sketch, and showing you a few takes on the sketch by our designers. Today, we have our second sketch for May, courtesy of Becky Fleck. We are thrilled that Becky has agreed to design exclusive sketches, just for Bella!

BeckyFleck_Bella_MaySketch2

Kim Arnold_Happiness _layout

"Happiness", by Kim Arnold.

This sketch was a really different design for me and I loved it! The Sunshine & Happiness range made it so easy for me to pull this layout together. I particularly loved how you were able to incorporate so many of the different paper designs into this layout with the hexagons; plus the Designer tape made a perfect frame.

Kim Arnold_Happiness_detail1

Supplies:
Sunshine & Happiness: Popsicle Kisses, Sunny Side Up, Happy Clouds, Petal Power, Play Date, Juicy Good Time, Alpha+Bits Stickers, Chipboard Icons; Spring Flings and Easter Things: Chipboard Icons; Designer Tape: Teal Stripe; Ciao Chip Versatile Elements: Clouds, Trees; Flags: Summer

NancyDamiano_LittlePiggiesLayout

“Little Piggies”, by Nancy Damiano.

I loved this sketch so much, I followed it almost exactly. I think it's the perfect mix of interesting design while keeping the photo center stage. I chose most of the bright patterns from the Sunshine & Happiness collection to make this page about my niece and her cute little piggies. I love how all of the patterns look together in a hexagon shape. I'm not a big flower person, but I love the way these crochet flowers give a handmade feel to the layout. A mix of chipboard and sticker alpha completes the title and this sweet sketch.

NancyDamiano_PiggiesLayoutDetail

Supplies:
Sunshine & Happiness: Petal Power, Happy Clouds; Baby Girl: Pretty in Pink, Snuggly Safari, Borders, Alpha+Bits Stickers; Crochet Flower: Poppy, Juniper; High Five Alphabet: Pink-Red; Ciao Chip Sophisticates: Peep

VivianMasket_Popsicle_Layout

“Popsicle”, by Vivian Masket.

This was a fun sketch to work with! I started by rotating it ninety degrees to the left and then added hexagons (die cut from patterned paper) in roughly the pattern shown in the sketch. I knew that I wanted to end up with a clean, graphic look, so I used fewer patterns than in the sketch and stuck to tone-on-tone patterned papers. I hand cut popsicles from the Sunshine & Happiness Borders paper and used those where the flowers are on the sketch, adhering them with pop dots for added dimension. I tilted the title and journaling elements as that seemed to work better with my interpretation of the sketch. I die-cut a title from black cardstock and printed my journaling on a color of cardstock that coordinated with the patterned paper, adding an extra pop of color to the journaling strips with little bits of Designer Tape.

Fridays With Stephanie

FRIDAY WITH STEPHANIE

Hello scrappy friends and happy Friday! Have you already begun your extended holiday weekend? Our local weather is supposed to be beautiful, so I’m excited to spend some time in the sun with family & friends! We’ve done some “not-so-spring-cleaning” (meaning that it’s already summer for most people), rearranging and straightening of things at the studio. It’s pretty amazing how cluttered things get and how much “stuff” is accumulated over time.

1MYDESK

Doesn’t my desk look pretty clean? I’m so excited … because it’s usually full of piles and piles and post-its galore.

Lucky for you our cleaning adventure has left us with a couple drawers full of scraps!

2SCRAPPY DRAWER

These two drawers have old product and new product, snippets of papers, stickers that have been partially used and lots of opened-up randomness like chipboard & flags.

GIVEAWAY

Instead of throwing it away I’d like to select 2 lucky winners to receive these goodies. I’m giving away one here today with Bella Blvd readers, and one over at my blog Designing my Life, to my readers as well! (Be sure to visit both!)

3SCRAPPY DRAWER

I will split the drawers into two prize packages and ship them out. Here’s how to win:

Leave a comment below telling us how you’re spending Memorial Day Weekend.

Be sure to visit my blog for a second chance to win. The Bella winner will be announced here, and the second winner will be announced on my blog, both on Tuesday.

ATHELETE1

And, on a side note I thought I’d share a recent Bella Blvd layout I created with my Making The Team Products. Here’s a sneak peek, but you’ll have to visit my blog to see the rest! I mixed some Mr. Boy with plenty of Making the Team. Happy with how it turned out.

Happy Friday!

Bella Blvd & Unity Stamp Co. Inspiration Day

BELLA AND UNITY

We are back with another Bella Blvd & Unity Stamps Inspiration Day! I asked a few of our Card Designers to use whatever stamps they were feeling inspired by, and to come up with some clever ways to use them. Let's see what they came up with!

Alice-Carman-Let's-Stick

“Let’s Stick Together” card, by Alice Carman.

For this card I used the tree stamp and cut off the trunk of the tree. It’s not only a tree stamp, but also ice cream scoops…yay! I wonder what else I could use it for? Who’s up for the challenge?

Alice-Carman-Let's-Stick.de

Supplies:
Too Cute To Spook: Itsy Bitsy Spider, Spooky Night; High Five Alphabets: Black-White; Sunshine & Happiness: Miniatures; Unity Stamps: Tree Love

Alice-Carman-birdie

“A Little Birdie Told Me” card, by Alice Carman.

I like things in 3’s and today’s card is just that. For my background I used the quote stamp and then I stamped the birdie 3 times and pop dotted them across the card. I also used Bella Blvd’s Halloween line called, “Too Cute To Spook” as my pattern paper. I know it’s not Halloween, but it totally works!

Alice-Carman-birdie-detail

Supplies:
Too Cute To Spook: Itsy Bitsy Spider; Designer Tape: Yellow Chevron; Unity Stamps: A Little Birdie Told Me, Tell Me More

KathyMartin_It'sAGirl_UnityCard

“It’s a Girl” card, by Kathy Martin.

It was a lot of fun getting all inked up for today’s card projects using some adorable new Bella. Blvd. and Unity stamps! For these projects, I thought it would be fun to experiment with combining the stamped images with Copic coloring and hand stitching. Since I wanted my stamped images in a soft gray color and didn’t have a gray stamp pad, I just used black and double stamped them. To do this, ink up your stamp and press it down once on a scratch piece to remove most of the ink and then stamp it a second time on your card. You can do this with any color to get a lighter hue.

Gail_May2012Card1

"Shine Down On Me" card, by Gail Hoecker.

One Stamp Three Ways. When I pulled the Country Tree Itty Bitty stamp out to use this month, I thought of several ways to use it. The first, probably the easiest, was to color the leaves with colored pencils in a rather monochromatic color scheme.

Gail_May2012Card2

"Congrats" card, by Gail Hoecker.

The second card was a little more work. I stamped my image on the card base and then several more times on an assortment of Bella Blvd patterned papers. I then cut out the leaves and adhered them onto the stamped image on the card base, popping some up.

Gail_May2012Card2Closeup

Gail_May2012Card3

"Hello Beautiful" card, by Gail Hoecker.

The third card was done by stamping the image on the card base. I then used a technique I learned years ago from fellow Artista Beth Gerlach. I stamped the tree image on plain cardstock, cut out the leaves and trunk of the tree and then the fun part ... I ran them through my little Xyron right-side down so that they are sticky on the right-side up. Dip the pieces in your glitter, tap off excess and adhere to your stamped image on your card base. I do not, repeat, do not, like a glittery mess and this method keeps the glitter mess to a minimum. I almost got rid of all my glitters and I'm really glad I didn't! Yes, these cards look fairly simple, but they do take some time to assemble so you want to make sure that whoever you send them to are "card worthy!"

Layouts On Wednesdays

WEDNESDAY LAYOUTS

We have a fun mix of free-for-all layouts to share with you today, from our Layout Designers!

Sheri_feypel_baseball_layout_May2012

"Playing Baseball", by Sheri Feypel.

I love the Making The Team line by Bella Blvd! The colors and patterns are some of my favorites! Normally I am a one photo per layout kind of scrapper, but I am trying to branch out a bit. I decided on two photos, started with white card stock and built my layout from there. I lay everything out, and make any needed adjustments before I glue anything down. Once I have my "base" down, I start adding embellishments, tape, stickers, chipboard, flags, etc. I like to call that "junking it up." Sometimes I get a little carried away, but honestly I tried to control myself on this layout!  I blame to scrapbooking companies that make all of the cute embellishments that I cannot resist!

"Happy Sounds", by Sue Mylde.

Sometimes it's good to put in a lot of journaling. This page is all about the happy sounds that my little boy makes. He loves animals and trucks and trains too, of course, which little boy wouldn't. And he loves sounding them all out - everything from “choo choo”, to howling like a wolf. It's an adorable trait and phase that I'll be sad to see the back of. So naturally, putting it in a layout is my way of preserving this sweet memory of my boy at 19 months.

“Determined”, by Julie Johnson.

Believe it or not, I am many years behind in my scrapbooking. With having my own business I just don't find the time to scrap. I have always scrapped in chronological order because when I first started scrapping 20 years ago that is the way it was done. When I became so far behind I pretty much wanted to give up. What was the point, I had way too many photos, and it was hopeless to think I would ever catch up. Then, I scrapped with a friend one day who didn't scrap in chronological order. She picked her favorite photos, scrapped them, and then placed them into an album. It was that easy. She said, "who cares if the photos are not in order." As I looked through her books I enjoyed each page individually and it didn't bother me at all to see the photos not in order. Wow! It completely freed me to scrap what I wanted and I don't worry about it anymore. When I was looking through some of my old school photos of my son, I enjoyed thinking back to his younger years...he is now 19...and remembering the times we shared, how young he was, and how much he has changed. I actually enjoy scrapping the REALLY old photos. It brings back memories I didn't know I had.

"Sweet Sisters", by Allyson Meinholz.

For this layout I used mainly the Flirty and Sophisticates Collections along with a mix of embellishments. I love how everything came together so easily.  I just love how Bella all works together from new lines to old lines! I am all about matchy-matchy. These photos are from New Years day of 2006. I am a bit behind in my scrapbooks! Hard to believe how time flies, as these photos were taken when we had just two daughters. And we are now expecting our fourth little girl.

Product Spotlight: Crochet Flowers

PRODUCT SPOTLIGHT

Today, we are back with our new feature day, called "Product Spotlight". With the new embellishments that we introduced at Winter CHA, such as the buttons, flags, tapes, and flowers, we want to make sure to share plenty of inspiration and ideas with you for using these new products.

CROCHET FLOWERS RGBH_blog

Today, we are focusing on our new Crochet Flowers! Aren't they adorable? They are the perfect size to embellish layouts and cards, at just about 1" in size. They come in four different colors sets, with pinks, reds, yellows, and blues. Our Crochet Flowers are the perfect little touch to add to your projects, adding texture and a little handmade goodness.

Beckywilliams_happy

"Happy" by Becky Williams.

For this page I kept the design fairly simple by using strips of paper and just a few embellishments. One of my very favorite Bella products are the little Miniatures and Alpha+Bits stickers that always seem to find their way onto my projects. The little crocheted flowers added just the right pop of color and texture to my page.

“My Favorite Time Of The Year”, by Melissa Stinson.

I had so much fun making this layout using the new Crochet Flowers that Bella introduced at the CHA Winter show. I cut a polka dot background in a sheet of white cardstock, then layered it over a piece of Punch Sprinkles and Lace paper to add a few pops of color. On top of that, I placed Crochet Flowers in several of the background holes to create a scattered effect. While I love all the fun items on this page, after it was finished I still felt like I wanted to see more of those lovely photos, so I pulled out a 4x6 divided page protector and added several more large prints to create a two-page layout. To tie the two pages together, I adhered a small button and another Crochet Flower right on top of the page protector.

“Happy Birthday” card, by Kathy Martin.

I have to have texture! Or I may as well go digital! Not that there’s anything wrong with digital, it’s just that I’m a hands-on type of girl who loves layers, texture and these new Bella Blvd. Crochet Flowers! Now that’s texture! And color! And they include buttons, another favorite of mine!

DeannaMisner_Congrats_Maycard

"Congrats, Congrats, Congrats" card, by Deanna Misner.

This card is all about repetition. I repeated both the circles and the flowers to create a look of consistency and balance. I covered the edge with Designer Tape and folded the excess over the side just like how I'd wrap a present, and to bring a little more yellow in, I added the scalloped "I love you" border. It's an easy card that would be versatile with collection or theme.

On-Going Guest Designers: Sarah Klemish & Kryssi Ng

GUEST DESIGNER

Back in September, when we were choosing our new Design Team, we had a group of talented designers that we just couldn't pass up. So we added a special team of On-going Guest Designers, that will joining us here on the blog throughout the year, along with the rest of our Design Team. Today, we are welcoming back Sarah Klemish and Kryssi Ng, for another round of projects.

SarahKlemish

SarahKlemish_Flag

In the scrapbook world I am known as “Sarahak”, in the real world I am Sarah Klemish (wife, mother, daughter, sister). I still remember the first Creative Memories class I took 10 years ago – cardstock and pictures cut in funky shapes! I still treasure those layouts but since then my style has changed. I am typically what is known as a “simple” scrapper. Straight lines, white space and sewing, that sums it up. I am currently designing for Creative Memories (talk about coming full circle)! I have been published in Scrapbook Trends and was on the Better Homes and Gardens Scrapbook Etc. team for a year. I still do work for Scrapbooks Etc. and get published with them regularly. Love the hobby, love the people and love being asked to participate on fun projects!

SarahKlemish_SweetSmile

"Sweet Smile", by Sarah Klemish.

I love these pictures of my sister in laws niece, Gracie! Because she had this cute strawberry outfit on I decided to play off that for the layout! I started out with a neutral background, and I cut three different size pieces of paper for the banner. On the middle banner I pop dotted the strawberry chipboard shape, and I added the heart border with the orange scallop under the pictures. The title was done using a combination of Simply Simona Alphabet, and the “sweet” sticker from the Spring Fling & Easter Things Miniatures sticker sheet.

Supplies:
Spring Fling & Easter Things: Egg Hunt, Miniatures Stickers; Sunshine & Happiness: Borders, Popsicle Kisses, Chipboard Icons; Simply Simona Alphabets and Numbers: Oyster

SarahKlemish_SummertimeSisters

"Summertime Sisters", by Sarah Klemish.

I love these pictures of my good friend’s two little girls taken at the beach! The Sunshine & Happiness line was perfect for these summer pictures! I started out with a neutral background and added some black paint splatters. I added the two 2x3 pictures and then designed around that! The stripe strip across the top was cut from the Borders paper. Above the pictures I pop dotted the clouds and sun, and then added a pop dotted purple scallop border sticker below the pictures. I tucked the “Summer Time” flag behind the chipboard title. Lastly I tucked a couple banner cut tabs from the Borders paper behind the picture!

Supplies:
Sunshine & Happiness: Borders, Alpha+Bits Sticker; Ciao Chip Elements: Clouds, Family Words; Flags: Summer

SarahKlemish_Baby Baby

"Baby Baby", by Sarah Klemish.

The alternative school I work at has many students with babies and my favorite mom is Cali. This picture is of her and her baby, Josslyn! Love them! And love that they like me to take their picture! I used a variety of collections on this layout! I started out with a neutral background and added some black paint splatters. I then added a strip of the Baby Boy “Mama’s Boy” paper. After adding the picture I added a doily behind it and a small piece of the Red Dot Designer Tape. I then cut the “Baby Baby” title from the Baby Boy Borders paper and sewed it down, partially over the picture. I then tucked two flags behind the title, one from the Summer set and one from the Sunshine and Happiness set. I added 3 cut out hearts (two are pop dotted) from the Sunshine and Happiness “Happy Clouds” paper. Lastly I added journaling strips above the picture.

Supplies:
Baby Boy: Mama’s Boy; Baby Girl: Baby Cakes; Sunshine & Happiness: Happy Clouds; Designer Tape: Red Dot; Flags: Summer, Sunshine & Happiness

KryssiNg_Flag

I live in NYC with my husband and two little girls. I started doodling and drawing at a young age and pursued an education in fine arts. That lifelong passion eventually led me into the world of paper crafting and graphic designing. Most of my waking hours are dedicated to tending to my family but on the small window of free time on some days -- you can find me in my room making cards (and sometimes scrapbooking a layout) or tinkering around with Photoshop/Illustrator. Anything but cleaning!

KryssiNg_LetMeCountTheWays

“Let Me Count The Ways” card, by Kryssi Ng.

I knew I wanted to create a simple middle aligned layout. I had this Instax picture of my bestie sitting around that was waiting for the perfect papers to be scrapped. I used the uber trendy chevron washi tape to create my alignment and then went about adding dimensions and textures in specific spots until I was happy with the minimalist yet textural design.

I am drawn to the gorgeous clouds, it inspired me to created a tone on tone wall art. I used a white gel pen to outline the butterfly die cuts and to add texture. I love that there is random little pops of colors peeking out of the butterflies.

Supplies:
Sunshine & Happiness: Happy Clouds; High Five Alphabets: Pink-Red

KryssiNg_happy_card

“Happy” card, by Kryssi Ng.

I love the happy colors in the Sunshine Happiness collection so much that I think it should be highlighted in a CAS card! I kept it super minimal with a simple layer. Used some Lifestyle dies to create the banner and finished off with the round stickers. It's so simple yet the colors pack quite a punch!

Supplies:
Sunshine & Happiness: Popsicle Kisses; High Five Alphabets: Pink-Red

Oh Happy Day - A Mini Album Share

ALTERED PROJECTS

Today, we have another gorgeous mini album to share with you.

IMG_1080

"Oh Happy Day" mini album, by Wendy Morris.

I was so inspired with this mini for many reasons - mainly for the sunshine & happiness in my life - positive vibes, beautiful memories, the everyday, changes, and very exciting plans for the future. All of the Bella Blvd collections are full of color and fun flair and were the perfect palette for developing the title and theme of my mini, "Oh Happy Day". I used many printed papers from old & new Bella Blvd collections - just shows how the mix of Bella Blvd flows so well to mix & match across the color palette of collections.

Be sure to check out my blog for even move peeks into this mini.

IMG_1119

The base of the mini is composed of Zutter corrugated board and bound with the Zutter Bind-It-All with some distressing with the Zutter Distrezz-It-All.

IMG_1083

Lovin' the sweet & fun buttons also from the Winter 2012 release.

IMG_1086

IMG_1088

On the page ("hello sun shine"), I drew into more details on this paper with much love for the hot air balloons and adding in some stamped hot air balloons, Bella Blvd Ciao Chip Clouds, sun, and Bella Blvd Icons.

IMG_1091

IMG_1093

The Miniatures are just the perfect splash also for mini projects - I worked these in on the page "Sledding Adventures".

IMG_1095

IMG_1096

What's not to love about the fun flags also from the Winter 2012 release? The sweet pearl on the head of the flag, just the perfect touch!

IMG_1098

IMG_1099

The High Five Alphas from Bella are still my fav crush from the Winter 2012 release.  I would take 20 sheets of each and use them all, seriously. They are perfect for mini projects, cards, ATCs, etc.  I used them on the cover ("Oh Happy Day") for the title as well as throughout the mini.

IMG_1101-001

IMG_1103

Used my vintage typewriter for quick journaling here & there.

IMG_1104

IMG_1108

Scraps of paper I used with my punches (i.e. blow off the dust from your punches) along with and torn border stickers to make sweet borders under my pics.

Designer tapes are the perfect vintage flair to work with your mini prints (i.e. Instagram photos).

Bella Blvd & The Twinery Team-Up: Day Five

TEAM_UP_BB and TWINERY

Welcome to our last day of our week long Team-Up with The Twinery! We have a group of our Bella designers that have mixed The Twinery's gorgeous baker's twine into our projects. And The Twinery's designers have been busy mixing Bella's products into their projects. Let's see what our designers have whipped up for us today.

DeannaMisner_BabyFace_TwineryTeamup

"Baby Face", by Deanna Misner.

This is quite possibly my most favorite photo of my son who was a week old at the time. I love that the photo was off center so that I had room to fit the title on top of the actual picture. I also decided to play a little with the twine and create my own argyle pattern. To me, nothing says "boy" better than some argyle pattern, so I criss-crossed gray twine to create the patterns on top of the diamond-shaped papers.

AllysonMeinholz_Calendar

"May" calendar page layout, by Allyson Meinholz.

I am currently working on my pregnancy album for Alayna. Every month, I create a calendar page to document my biweekly doctor’s appointments and multiple ultrasounds. I made a pocket behind the calendar to store the ultrasound photos. I used the twine to create my “May” title, and to create the grass along the bottom of the page.

MorganB_Tic Tac Toe1

"Owen", by Morgan Bandkowski.

I decided to make a layout using pictures of my friend's little boy, Owen. I wanted to make it fun so I decided to make the layout look like a big Tic-Tac-Toe board. The twine was a perfect way to make the lines and also the X's. I even used the twine to stitch on the buttons and the Ciao Chip letters.

SheriFeypel_ItsAllAboutFrosting_layout

"It's All About The Frosting", by Sheri Feypel.

My son, Logan is the inspiration for this layout. He likes to "rearrange" his cupcakes to get the perfect frosting to cake ratio. I used the Bella Blvd Baby Girl line to document his cupcake eating style. I chose to keep it clean for this layout, adding dimension with foam pop dots and stitching around the scallop circle.

KathyMartin_It'saGirl_Card

“It’s A Girl” card, by Kathy Martin.

For this Twinery project I wanted to use most of the twine colors and create something I haven’t seen yet. Using the same technique I did for my “Easter Egg” layout, I used a scoring board to create horizontal and vertical lines as a guide for the twine. Then I created a weaving pattern following those lines.

Baby Girl: Chipboard Icons, Miniatures Stickers; Button Market: Feminine Mix; Sophisticates: Miniatures Card Sentiments

The Twinery Supplies:

SheriFeypel_CongratsCard

"Congrats" card, by Sheri Feypel.

I used Bella's Baby Boy line to create this card. I punched a star in the blue and white striped border and layered it on top of a shipping tag wrapped in twine. I removed the string from the tag and added more twine!

Baby Boy: Wild About You, Borders, Alpha+Bits Stickers

The Twinery Supplies:

Bella Blvd & The Twinery Team-Up: Day Four

TEAM_UP_BB and TWINERY

Welcome to day four of our week long Team-Up with The Twinery! We have a group of our Bella designers that have mixed The Twinery's gorgeous baker's twine into our projects. And The Twinery's designers have been busy mixing Bella's products into their projects. Let's see what our designers have in store for us today.

BrookStewart_GirlyClothes1_Layout

“Girly Clothes”, by Brook Stewart.

I've had so much fun clothes shopping for our first little girl coming this summer! Her closet is already getting well stocked and I wanted to make sure to document it! I went with a lot of pink on this layout to reinforce the "girly" aspect of the subject. I added the beautiful pink twine colors around the outside as a border and secured them with mini staples. I also added a border of the lighter pink twine around my journaling spot to define it. I just stuck it down with some liquid glue.

BrookStewart_GirlyClothes2_Layout

Bella Blvd Supplies:
Sunshine & Happiness: Juicy Good Time, Play Date; We're Expecting: Bella Baby Bump, Baby's First Miniatures; Baby Girl: Alpha+Bits Stickers; High Five Alphabet: Pink-Red; Baby Blooms a Bella: Rossini

The Twinery Supplies:
Pink Sorbet, Blossom

Beckywilliams_twinerylove

"We Love You" by Becky Williams.

For this layout I wanted to do something I'd seen on projects created by others: writing with the twine. It was a lot easier than I thought it might be. You simply draw the word with liquid glue and add the desired color of twine. You could even mix up the colors by cutting smaller segments of twine.

Beckywilliams_twinerylove2

Beckywilliams_twinerylove3

Bella Blvd Supplies:
Baby Girl: It's A Girl, Ciao Chip Icons; Baby Boy: Miniatures Stickers; Sunshine & Happiness: Borders, Just Write Journaling Stickers; We're Expecting: Baby's Firsts Miniatures Stickers; Designer Tape: Pink Flowers; Sophisticates: Ciao Chip Borders; High Five Alpha Stickers: Black-White

The Twinery Supplies:
Maraschino, Pink Sorbet, Denim

KathyMartin_EasterEggs_Page

“Easter Eggs”, by Kathy Martin.

I wanted the twine to really shine on this page so I created a frame with it. In order to make straight lines with the twine, I used a scoring board and then I traced those lines with a glue pen. I could have easily used the Bella Blvd. Spring Things & Easter Things for this dyed egg page, but the new Sunshine & Happiness line is equally adorable and versatile!

The Twinery Supplies:
Lemondrop, Orchid

Megan_twinery_card

“When I See You Smile” card, by Megan Klauer.

For the "rainbow-cloud" I took a piece of white card stock, covered the front side with adhesive & glue dots and began wrapping the twine around it. I then added a layer of dimensional pop dots to the top and added another piece of white card stock with the cloud punched out. This is such a versatile technique! Change the punch and the twine colors and you can get a whole new look! Have fun with it!

MorganB_Soph Heart Card1

Heart card, by Morgan Bandkowski.

I attend a lot of weddings so I am always trying to come up with different ideas for wedding cards. I used a die cut of a heart and wrapped twine all around it. I love using the Lace side of the Sprinkles & Lace paper because it gives the card a classy feel.

TEAM_UP_BB and TWINERY

Welcome to day three of our week long Team-Up with The Twinery! We have a group of our Bella designers that have mixed The Twinery's gorgeous baker's twine into our projects. And The Twinery's designers have been busy mixing Bella's products into their projects. Let's see what our designers have whipped up for us today.

KNeddo-Hangin-out-in-a-Tree-1

“Hangin’ Out In A Tree”, by Kimberly Neddo.

I really love working with different shapes. For this layout, I arranged different patterned paper shapes in a large circle and wrapped several different colors of twine over the top for a fun effect to draw interest to the photograph, with the movement of the shapes and overlapping, encircled twines.

“Getting To Know Grandpa”, by Brook Stewart.

I love these photos of my youngest little guy with my dad! I wanted to do something fairly simple so that they would be the main focus of the layout. I traced a 9" heart onto the background once I got the other paper strips stuck down where I wanted thyem. I then added a thin line of glue and attached the twine straight on the layout.

"Amazing", by Laura Vegas.

My first thought, when I got my package of The Twinery's baker's twine, was that I wanted to re-create a layout I did a few years ago, where I had wrapped string around blocks of patterned paper. I choose three colors of twine, and then set about finding tone-on-tone patterned papers to go with each color. By keeping the pattern paper and the twine the same color, it adds a nice subtle touch of interest to the page. I distressed the edges of my papers, which helps "hold" the twine in place, when I wrap it around each piece. I then adhered the twine wrapped pieces to the page using pop dots, for even more dimension. It's such a simple technique to do, but adds a fun touch to the page.

"Green Gators", by Deanna Misner.

Making the Team was the PERFECT collection to feature my daughter's softball team pictures. And since our team is the Gators I, of course, borrowed the cute little alligator embellishments from the Baby Boy collection. Honestly, as soon as I heard our team name I started making this layout in my head. LOL. I knew I'd use those alligators. One thing that I absolutely love about using the twine is that it softens the page while making it a little more girly too. After all that chipboard, it needed some softness.

"You Are My Sunshine" card, by Sheri Feypel.

I started out by piercing the shape of a sun, then adding the stitching. I wanted the sunshine to be the focal point of the card and chose a small sentiment to go along with it.

I used Sunshine & Happiness along with some Sophisticates chipboard and some buttons to create this card. I punched out a scallop circle and used the twine to go around & around, to make the raise of the sun. I added a chipboard accent, sticker, and a button for more dimension. Once I finished the card, I decided to add stitching to the outside edge, all around the card.

Bella Blvd & The Twinery Team-Up: Day Two

TEAM_UP_BB and TWINERY

Welcome to day two of our week long Team-Up with The Twinery! We have a group of our Bella designers that have mixed The Twinery's gorgeous baker's twine into our projects. And The Twinery's designers have been busy mixing Bella's products into their projects. Let's see what our designers have whipped up for us today.

Beckywilliams_twineryhappin

"Sunshine and Happiness" by Becky Williams.

When I coming up with ideas for my Twinery projects I knew that I wanted to create something that showcased many of the twine colors. I then got the idea to make a rainbow using the crocheted flowers as the clouds and this layout idea was born! I love the different colors of twine available from The Twinery and have had so much fun with these projects!

The Peapod colored twine quickly became my favorite color so I decided to use that as the base of my color scheme. With a touch of pink & yellow it was perfect with this picture of Ella from her second birthday shoot. I looped the twine through the button and continued it off the page on both sides. I then sewed over it to help keep it in place. I'm not sure I'm in love with the look of that, but it's something different and it's always fun to try something new. Using a dimensional dot I popped up the cupcake sticker and again tied it with the Peapod twine.

The Twinery and Bella Blvd are the perfect colorful combination! I really enjoyed creating ways to accent my page with The Twinery’s product! Some of my accents are common uses and then some are unique! This page is like an “I spy” page. Can you find all seven places and six colors that I incorporated twine into my project?

When I was looking through my Bella stash, I came upon the rainbow die cut from the Spring collection and knew exactly what I wanted to do for this card project! The beautiful colors in the rainbow coordinate perfectly with the bright assortment of twine colors from the Twinery! I just cut some small pieces and glued them down along the coordinating colors of the rainbow of the die cut. I used a paper piercer and needle to secure the ends of the thread behind the rainbow at the ends for a finished look.

"Maybe A Cupcake Will Help" card, by Suzanne Sergi.

Even though the Baby Girl collection is meant to be paired with baby photos, you will find patterns that will be perfect for cards. The cupcake paper found on the Baby Cakes paper, was the inspiration for this card. I pulled out a variety of pinks to create a card that will make anyone smile. I loved using the twine as accents to embellishments. I used the pink twine to wrap around the cupcake itself, and also as the final tip of frosting at the top.

“Happy 4th” card, by Kimberly Neddo.

One of the things I love doing with twine, is wrapping it into a circle on Glubbers (large glue dots). It's so easy to create the perfect circle! I wanted to do a 2-color circle for this fun twine embellishment I made. I used my Big Shot tool to punch a hole in the center, where I threaded the twine through and tied a bow. I am loving the new Designer Tapes that Bella Blvd recently released. It works super great for pleating, as you can tell by the little pleating I added to the border across the center. The flag embellishments were the perfect touch to complete this card and I really loved making this card.

Bella Blvd & The Twinery Team-Up: Day One

TEAM_UP_BB and TWINERY

We have big stuff planned for you this week, and we are so excited to get things going! Bella Blvd is teaming up with The Twinery, for a week full of inspiration. We have a group of our Bella designers that have mixed The Twinery's gorgeous baker's twine into our projects. And The Twinery's designers have been busy mixing Bella's products into their projects. We have loads of projects to share with you, so let's get started!

KNeddo-Perfect-Bliss-1

“Perfect Bliss”, by Kimberly Neddo.

I have been doing a lot of knitting and learning crocheting in my spare time, and I've really been enjoying it. I was so excited to be able to be a part of The Twinery team up with Bella Blvd, as I've been wanting to experiment with different crocheting techniques to embellish on a layout. I haven't seen this done before, with borders and different flowers. I love how this layout turned out with these unique twine embellishments I made.

Twine is the perfect accessory to buttons! I took two of the little buttons from the Wood Mix & added a splash of color by simply tying twine through the holes. I also accented a journaling tag from the Cute Cuts page by tying twine around the top.

"Apple Of My Eye", by Suzanne Sergi.

Hello Beautiful may not be a new release, but it is one of my favorites. Love the bold titles found on the Borders N' Blocks Paper! The yellow twine from the Twinery matched perfectly with the yellow found on these papers. Since the title was so bold, I added the twine along the bottom to ground it to my page. A small section also helped to dress up the apple diecut from the Cute Cuts paper.

"Stick Together" card by Becky Williams.

I created the hearts on this card by first punching three hearts in my white cardstock paper. I then cut 3 small squares of paper, covered one with patterned paper and the other two with strips of twine. I adhered the pieces on the back of the white cardstock and then added the sentiment stickers to the front of the card.

"Hello" card, by Deanna Misner.

I wanted to create a card that would brighten someone's day, and nothing's better than the Sunshine & Happiness collection. I love that it's bold, bright, and so much fun! This card was also a great way to use up some of my scraps. I notched the ends of several patterned paper scraps, then I hand-cut the flowers and popped them up with 3D foam adhesive. I lined them with twine and added a quick sentiment to make an easy card.

MorganB_We are family1

"We Are Family" altered monogram, by Morgan Bandkowski.

I wanted to use the twine to create an altered project. I love those paper mache letters you can find at craft stores. I decided to get the letter "F" for family. My mom has a new sunroom on her house so I thought I would make her a letter to go in the room. I used cream yarn to cover the whole thing and the took two different colors of the twine and wrapped them around to accent it. I added a flower and stitched on two buttons & a flag to give it a little more pizazz!

Saturday Sketches, On Friday

SATURDAY SKETCHES

Stephanie is crazy busy this week, finalizing the new products for Summer CHA, so she's not around for her usual Friday post. So I figured we would post our sketch feature a day early. Twice a month, we'll be bringing you a new sketch, and showing you a few takes on the sketch by our designers. Today, we have our first sketch for May, courtesy of Becky Fleck. We are thrilled that Becky has agreed to design exclusive sketches, just for Bella!

“Summer Beauties”, by Kimberly Neddo.

Sometimes when I'm working with a sketch, I turn the print out of the sketch around to change it up a little bit. Changing direction, can be just what I need to be inspired and get to creating. For this layout, I turned it to the side, and used the title as the circlular part of the sketch. I love how this turned out, and how it inspired me to create.

“Ziplining”, by Julie Johnson.

I just love this color combination. Perfect for sunny, outdoor photos. By the look of these photos you would think it's summertime, but no, it's a beautiful sunny January day on Catalina Island just off the coast of California. If you are familiar with my design style than you know I like to ink or distress the edges of my paper. But sometimes I also like the look of the colorful crisp edges but I always think I still need something to bring all the paper pieces together. I know it's a little "old school" but I still love to doodle. I use a very fine pen, .01, so I can get the finest lines possible and I am very random with my line work. I think the trick to doodling is not to have all your lines look alike. So mine are very random; some short, some long, over lapping, and even small dots in between. Once in awhile I even like to add in a heart or flower. It adds tons of detail to your layout but doesn't over power it. Try it...it's fun!!

Playing with this sketch was utterly fun. Rather than the two photos, I put four photos on the page, but offset them a little to give a bit more interest. The fun pieces from the Baby Boy collection simply lend themselves to whimsy, fun and cute!

Cards On Thursdays

CARDS ON THURSDAYS

With Mother's Day coming up in a few days, I asked a few of our Card Designers to create cards that would be perfect for the occasion.

Gretchen McElveen_Happy Mothers Day card

"Happy Mother's Day" card, by Gretchen McElveen.

I really love how the Bella Blvd products work so well together. On this first card I went with a fun pink, brown, and yellow color scheme using products from 4 different lines! Making stuff sure is fun and easy when all the products coordinate so well!

Gretchen McElveen_Happy Mothers Day card_close up

Supplies:
Sunshine & Happiness: Petal Power; Spring Fling and Easter Things: Miniature Stickers, Chipboard Icons; Baby Girl: Chipboard Icons; Winter Wonder: Toasty; Button Market: Wood Mix

Gretchen McElveen_Its Your Day card

"It's Your Day” card, by Gretchen McElveen.

On this next card I used some of the new Ciao Chip (Family Words and Clouds) with papers from the Sunshine & Happiness and Baby Girl lines. I don't know if I have ever used a pink, purple, and red color scheme like this before...but I think I like how it turned out! Happy Mother's Day to all of you mothers out there!

Supplies:
Sunshine & Happiness: Petal Power, Borders; Baby Girl: Pretty in Pink; Ciao Chip: Clouds, Family Words; Sophisticates: Pink-Red High Five Alphabets

LauraVegas_WorldsBestMom_card

"Best Mom" card, by Laura Vegas.

It might seem a bit odd that I turned to the Tail Waggers & Cat Naps collection when I sat down to make a few Mother's Day cards. A pet collection for Mother's Day cards? Sure, why not! I am very driven by color, when making my paper choices, and I just love the colors and patterns in this collection. The small circles patterned paper has little hearts and paw prints in some of the circles. To cover up the paw prints, I just used a regular hole punch to punch out some of the circles with hearts from a scrap piece of paper, and adhered them over the paw prints using mini pop dots.

LauraVegas_ToTheBestMom_card

"Congrats To The Best Mom" card, by Laura Vegas.

I started this card with a few of the pattern papers from the Tail Waggers & Cat Naps collection as well, but mixed in a bit more red and pinks this time. I used a mix of a Ciao Chip "Mom" word, some letter stickers, and a flag, to create my sentiment. I also used a fun cloud border punch along a few strips of patterned papers, and layered them together along the bottom of the card.

“Mom, You Make My Days Better” card, by Alice Carman.

Love that this week’s cards are focused on Moms. Now I have 2 cards ready to go for Mother’s Day. Yay! Using some favorite dies, I punched out some flowers and played with some borders.

I think I went die cutting crazy on this card. Just love the different shapes you get and how it alters the look of the paper. Just love this Lovey Dovey line, don’t you?

WendyW MDay Card 1

"Mother's Day" card, by Wendy Wagner.

This card has a lot going on, like most of my scrapbooking! I love pattern, layers, and bling. The flags accent it perfect and are easy to attach to the pop dots under the heart. There is also some inking, glimmer mist and stickles going on. This is for sure a card I would love to get! Enjoy your upcoming Mother's Day :)

WendyW MDay card 2

"Happy Mother's Day" card, by Wendy Wagner.

This card was super simple but very classy. Three simple circles popped and inked, along with a matching crochet flower. I added the cute little Mothers Day banner and a cute border across the top. All on the simple white makes it a clean, easy to see simple card. Much different from the way I usually scrapbook, but sometimes it’s fun to go outside the lines! Enjoy!

Layouts On Wednesdays

WEDNESDAY LAYOUTS

It's another round of Free-For-All layouts today, and we have a very fun mix of layouts from our designers!

Melissatinson_freeforall_layout

"Geeky Happiness", by Melissa Stinson.

I've been having a little too much fun with my Silhouette lately! It's a great way to quickly try out new techniques that might take much longer if pieced by hand. For instance, the sunburst pattern that I cut from the Sophisticates Sprinkles and Lace paper is a Silhouette cut file that I changed the dimensions on a bit to make it fit my layout- so much faster than measuring, cutting, and piecing by hand. Versatile tools like this are a great way to get even more from your Bella Blvd papers!

"Run Rabbit Run", by Kim Arnold.

I love the flexibility of the Sunshine & Happiness collection. There is a large amount of pink in this range, but it is also very easy to create a layout without any pink at all – as I have done with Run Rabbit Run. The super cute little chipboard bunny is from the new Spring Flings and Easter Things chipboard.

"Bones”, by Vivian Masket.

The fish skeleton flag from the Cat flag set was the perfect embellishment for this unusual set of photos I've been hanging onto for a while. I repeated the design of the flag embellishment by die-cutting a fish skeleton from the gray chevron B side of the Momma's Boy paper and used both the positive and negative shapes on my layout. The two basic patterned papers I used here added pops of color without taking the focus off of my photos. The white High Five Alphas worked well for adding the finishing touch of a title layered over my smaller photos.

Believe it or not, this rather "busy" layout is just 2 sheets of patterned paper, the Alpha + Bits sticker sheet, and a few of the white High Five alphabets mixed in! You sure can do a lot with the Borders patterned paper, a sheet with lots of flowers to cut out (Petal Power), and a bunch of fun stickers!

Sunshine & Happiness Altered Projects

ALTERED PROJECTS

Our Altered Project Designers have some projects to share with us today. It's fun to see how three designers can take the same collection, Sunshine & Happiness, and come up with totally different, creative ideas for using it!

SuzanneSergi_Sunshine&Happinessa_AlteredFrame_1

"Sunshine & Happiness" altered frame, by Suzanne Sergi.
{A Winter CHA Project}

The bright colors of the Sunshine & Happiness really inspired my design. I wanted to capture a bit of happiness, and tuck it into an 8x10 frame. I included some of my favorite elements, a butterfly, simple garland, and even added in the trendy, "confetti." This frame is full of color, and will make any room just a bit brighter.

Paper–Pieced Owl, by Marie-Josée Hamel.

Over the last few months, I pinned quite a few paper owls on Pinterest, and last week, I decided it was time for me to create my own owl using the Sunshine and Happiness collection. You can create your owl in any size you like, with any combination of paper. Mine is about 10 x 10 inches.

MJHamel_AlteredArt_ Owl 4

I didn't use any template for the head, wings and body; I just traced them on patterned paper and cut them out. Then, I used a circle punch and a border punch to cut out pieces of paper to decorate my owl. That being said, you can use any kind of punch, as you see fit.

MJHamel_AlteredArt_ Owl 2

I used circles punched out of various patterned paper and thin strips of paper cut with scissors to mimick feathers. You can alternate the colors like I did or use the same color throughout, as you wish. Don't forget to use some nice Bella Bella Blvd buttons to create the eyes.

"Joy And Happiness" altered magnetic board, by Jennifer Edwardson.

I was so excited to sit down and work with this magnetic board. I knew I wanted it in my office/studio space, but wasn't sure how I was going to pretty it up. As soon as I sat down with the Sunshine & Happiness collection, I decided to just 'scrapbook it'. I was hesitant to leave the outer edges uncovered, but decided that with all the fun bright colors of the collection, I would 'scrapbook it' on the kraft of the frame, just like cardstock.

Jennifer edwardson - magnet board 6

I covered the silver magnetic center with a full sheet of 12 x 12 paper and created grass with a strip from the Borders patterned paper. I cut out several of the images from the Cute Cuts patterned paper to embellish with, and mixed them in with a Ciao Chip border and added Ciao Chip shapes throughout.

Jennifer edwardson - magnet board 2

Jennifer edwardson - magnet board 4

Using several of the cardstock stickers layered with 3D foam, I adhered magnetic strips to the back to make them into mini magnets. I covered a clothespin with stickers and a Ciao Chip flower and added a magnetic strip on the back to hold a photo or note.

Jennifer edwardson - magnet board 3

After tucking a couple of flags here and there I created a title for my board with the new High 5 Alphas and the 'Happiness' title from the coordinating Sunshine & Happiness Ciao Chip. I even added some decorative tape along the left and right edges of the board to jazz it up a bit. Once I had the base complete, I chose a few of my favorite photos of Emma and Alex and adhered them with the mini magnets and some decorative tape too!

Supplies:
Sunshine & Happiness: Sunny Side Up, Borders, Cute Cuts, Alphas+Bits, Just Write Journaling Stickers, Miniatures Stickers, Chipboard Icons, Flags; Ciao Chip: Borders; Decorative Tape: Yellow Chevron, Pickle Juice Dot, Red Dot

May Guest Designer: Jennifer Gallacher

GUEST DESIGNER

We are excited to introduce you to our May Guest Designer, Jennifer Gallacher! Jennifer has created some fabulous, bright, and happy projects to share with us today. And along with those projects, she has also added a few fun challenges, for those of you that would like to play along!

Jen-headshot-black-and-whit

Hi everyone! It's Jennifer Gallacher here. I currently work with Echo Park Paper as their Marketing Coordinator/Managing Editor. In addition I serve as a Garden Girl for www.twopeasinabucket.com. You may have seen my work as an Assistant and Contributing Editor for a few of Northridge Publishing titles including Cricut Magazine, Scrapbook Trends Magazine, and the Create Idea Book Series. In my 15 year career as a designer, teacher, and editor in the industry I've had the opportunity to work for such companies as Making Memories, Little Yellow Bicycle, Li'l Davis Designs, and Karen Foster Design. I have taught and demonstrated at CHA tradeshows and local scrapbook stores and had many projects published in the leading papercrating magazines. I enjoy both traditional, hybrid, and even digital paper crafting. When I'm not designing, I enjoy reading and watching English Period Piece movies. My husband doesn't quite understand how I can watch a Jane Austen movie five times in a row, but I think it's wonderful!

I am super excited to be joining Bella Blvd as a Guest Designer this month. Bella Blvd has such playful, bright color schemes and patterns; and since I am always drawn to color, I was thrilled to be designing with several of their collections this month.

JenGallacher_SummerLayout

"Summer", by Jennifer Gallacher.

For my first creation, I designed a layout using the "Sunshine & Happiness" collection. We're finally starting to get warmer weather, and that makes me long for picnics at the park, trips to the pool, and just anything sunshine related. This layout is a tribute to my niece who is definitely full of sunshine and happiness. We love it when she comes to visit, and she loves to be outside in our yard.

JenGallacher_SummerLayout2

I am a big fan of the banner trend so I cut several pieces from the "b side" of the "Sunshine & Happiness" collection. I cut each banner to a random length and width and then either cut the banner on a diagonal or notched the ends. I overlapped them with stickers and then machine stitched some of them in place. To complete the banner, I created a little scene with stickers and cut out shapes from the paper. I also printed my journaling on yellow cardstock and mounted it on the yellow chevron word bubble. Layering like this draws the eye to the larger elements on the page and balances your photos.

Challenge: Cut your favorite Bella Blvd. papers into banner shapes, overlapping them as you place them on your page. Lay them horizontally or vertically depending on your layout design. Be sure to cut them varying widths and lengths to keep them interesting.

JenGallacher_Friends-Jar

"Friends" gift jar, by Jennifer Gallacher.

For my second creation, I wanted a little gift that I could deliver to a friend. I think I have a crush on this chevron pear shape. I covered an empty jar with patterned paper, a ribbon, and the cut out pear shape. I also layered on a sentiment "friends" sticker and a button tied with twine on the jar front. I then filled the jar with green and white bubble gum. I keep empty jars and containers on hand just for occasions such as these. I can't wait to deliver this little gift to my neighbor as I know she'll love it!

Challenge: Cover a container or empty jar with elements from any of the beautiful Bella Blvd. collections. Then select a treat that matches the colors and patterns found within the paper and embellishments. Then deliver it to a friend or neighbor. You can also create a coordinating card with leftover supplies.

JenGallacher_SpringAlteredFrame

"Spring" frame, by Jennifer Gallacher.

For my final project, I wanted a home decor art piece showcasing the spring season. In addition to keeping jars and containers around, I stock up on cute frames so I can alter them at will. For this frame, I filled the inside with cloud patterned paper, the rainbow shape die cut, and the chipboard sunshine sticker. I cut an additional rainbow shape from a second sheet of paper and layered the clouds on top of the first shape. I like using adhesive foam squares to create shadows and depth on my project between layers.

JenGallacher_SpringAlteredFrame2

To create the banner, I hand cut triangle shapes from some "Sunshine & Happiness" patterned paper (don't be afraid to mix and match collections as Bella Blvd.'s collection work very well together). Then I layered the chipboard "SPRING" letters on each banner and strung them from string attached to my frame. I love how this makes me excited for all our beautiful spring weather.

Challenge: Fill a frame with a seasonal themed scene using the shapes you can cut out from the patterned paper. Mix in buttons, tape, stamps, and chipboard stickers for even more texture and interest. Place elements within the frame (removing the glass), and outside the frame to make it more exciting!

*****************************************************************
I really enjoyed working with the Bella Blvd collections. I already have even more projects in mind and can't wait to start creating. Thanks for joining me today in creating some spring and summer projects.

NSD Celebration: Where Bella's Layout Designers Create & Their Favorite Project (Part 2)

Happy National Scrapbook Day everyone!
Are you scrapping today? Cropping with friends? Taking part in online scrapbooking activities? I hope you're having tons of fun, no matter how you decide to celebrate the day. I asked each and every one of our Design Team members to give you a glimpse into their scrap spaces today. Every day on the blog, we share our projects with you. Today, we want to show you where those projects come to life! Each designer is also going to share their favorite project that they have created, as part of their design team year so far.

Today's shares were split into FIVE posts, that have gone up throughout the day. If you're just joining us, you'll want to keep reading to see our previous posts. And since this is the last post of the day, that means it's time for our HUGE giveaway as well. It's a HUGE one, and it's not just Bella goodies!

We are on our last post, and are learning more about where the second half of our Layout Designers create and what their favorite Bella projects are!

I'm very blessed to have a whole room to use as my office and scrap space, though it does do double duty as a guest room when we have visitors in town (the furniture is easily moved to allow space for a comfy murphy bed to pull down). My space did not start out furnished this way- I've gone through many iterations of cheap bookcases and other inexpensive storage items before landing on the Expedit shelf system by IKEA as my storage unit of choice. Even the Expedit shelves aren't that expensive, and I've added them slowly over the course of a few years to build up to the massive corner unit that I have now. My desk is the Madison Trestle Desk from Target, and I recommend it for scrappers (especially if you can find it on a free shipping special!) because it has an amazing amount of storage on the side shelves and a huge work surface.

Melissa_scraproom_2

Melissa_layout_whitechristmas

This layout made with the Winter Wonder collection is one of my favorite pages that I've made for Bella Blvd. We don't get a lot of snow here, so I remember the magic of waking up on Christmas morning of all days to find that several inches had been dumped on us overnight. The white cardstock and tiny pops of color really reflect the feeling of that day.

Scraproom

My scraproom has gone though many changes throughout the years. I started in our downstairs bedroom, then moved upstairs to a large open loft, and then back downstairs to the bedroom again. My room isn't huge, but it works really well for me. Being that I work at home running a daycare, I spend the majority of my time downstairs. It's nice to have access to my stuff whenever I need it, since I tend to work on projects whenever I can grab a few spare minutes. My main pieces of furniture are the Madison Trestle Desk from Target (same as Melissa), 2 large Expedit shelves from IKEA, and a few stackable drawer units from Michaels. I use lots of bins and baskets on my shelves for organizing my supplies, and use both horizontal paper trays and vertical paper holders to store my patterned paper and cardstock. I'm an extremely neat scrapper. The photo above shows what it looks like when I'm working on several projects at once, and is actually about the messiest you'll ever see my room!

Girls_Happiness

It's hard to pick just one favorite layout, but if I have to choose, it would be my "Happiness" layout. I just love the fun mix of colors and patterns, and that I was able to pull papers from so many different collections. It also has a photo collage (one of my favorite ways to add photos to my pages), and some of my favorite little girls on it!

I love my little space, it's down in our basement, where we spend most of our time as a family when we are home. I love it, because I can be busy crafting away, while still enjoying the company of my family. I love vintage finds, so I'm always collecting fun storage things at my favorite antique stores here in Montana. I think I'm about to overflow though. Time to just purge, but it's so hard!

My favorite Bella project right now, is this one. I loved how the banner came together for this creation. I love the color combination and the design of it just fell into place. This layout was created for the Bella Blog inspiration, and I really love to have my creativity nudged with being inspired by a picture or design given to me to work with. They always seem to push my creativity to new levels, and are always my favorites when I'm all done.

Laura told us that we could send her pictures of our space either cleaned up or in full-mess mode and the truth is, my space is pretty much always in "full-mess-mode" because I am always working on something so there are scraps of paper and embellishments strewn about on my table. Miraculously, I can usually find whatever I need since I store papers by manufacturer and embellishment by type. Right now I am in a bit of an overhaul-stage and need to do some serious sorting and purging!

Beckywilliamsscrapspace1

Beckywilliams_designer-tape

One of my all-time favorite Bella projects that I have created thus far is this "Beautiful Girl" layout that I created for CHA. I like the mix of color and black/white pictures and LOVE how the new washi tape creates a border around the page. It's a fun, happy page and makes me smile.

My scrap corner is in what would be known as our dining room, although we never eat in here. We opt for the table in the kitchen, so I've pretty much taken over. The black cabinets (I have another smaller one on another wall that houses most of my paper and idea books) and wall shelf were custom made. I'm on the lookout for something a little prettier to store stuff in other than the plastic boxes, but it works for now! Even though I have a pretty decent space to work, I usually end up on one of those tiny folding tables in the living room so I can be with my hubby and kiddos while I'm working!

BrookStewart_8Years1_layout

This is one of my very favorite layouts, mostly because of the photos. I have very few pics of me and my hubby together and the ones I have are so special to me. I also love this layout because it shows one of my favorite aspects of the Bella collections - they mix so well together and that's one of my favorite things to do!

SueMylde_Workspace2

With my family planning a house move in August, I'm getting prepared for the move by sorting out my scrap area and purging. Here is what it looks like now. I was thrilled to uncover some hanging baskets which make the shelves even more 'spacious' and my goodies even more accessible. I love these Expedit shelves for my craft area. My desk is pretty simple too. I'm an organized chaos kinda gal, so this is a 'fresh' table waiting for me to create my next project.

SueMylde_Workspace1

SueMylde_Jadore

This is a tough one because I love playing with Bella stuff so how can I pick ONE? In the end, I decided to pick the most recent work I've done - this J'Adore layout. Misting, textures, details, and a bit of fancy, that's all me... this layout is an embodiment of my creative style. I love the touch of whimsy, and the playfulness of the page, and how it is a happy layout which brightens up my day with all the CUTE that it brings.

And now it's GIVEAWAY TIME!!!!

Bellagiveaway

That's right! We are giving away a Cricut Expression, along with SEVEN cartridges!!! Retail value is approximately $600! The lucky winner will also be getting bunches of Bella products, of course ;)

NSD Celebration: Where Bella's Layout Designers Create & Their Favorite Project (Part 1)

I have split today's shares into FIVE posts, that will go up throughout the day. So you'll want to keep checking back in with us. When the last post of the day rolls around, we will be doing a HUGE giveaway as well. It's a HUGE one, and it's not just Bella goodies ;)

We have checked in with our Local Artista Designers, our Altered Project Designers, and our Card Designers. Next up, we are learning more about where the first half of our Layout Designers create and what their favorite Bella projects are!

Vivian Masket Headshot - Bella Blvd

Vivian_intro

VivianMasket_ScrapSpace

My scrap space is in the corner of my basement, and also serves as my home office. I have three main areas: 1) My scrap cube storage, which is where I keep paper, cardstock, stamps, etc. The top of the cubes are covered in baskets that hold magazines and idea books as well as larger/taller products. 2) My IKEA Expedit bookshelf, which is where I store smaller embellishments (with one cube reserved for work books and papers). 3) My desk, which houses my computer, printer, Silhouette CAMEO, and a storage cube that I use for the most recent paper lines from the companies I design for (currently all of the Winter CHA Bella Blvd paper is in there!). My big secret? I have boxes and boxes of layouts stored in the guest bedroom. It's been years since I put anything into an album. Someday I will get around to it!

VivianMasket_Santa'sWorld_layout

My favorite Bella Blvd project to date is the one I created for the December newsletter: Santa's World. I had a lot of fun playing with punches as I created this layout and love how I was able to easily combine products from different Bella Blvd lines since Stephanie designs her products with a consistent color palette. The end result was a fun, colorful, and whimsical layout that I love!

****************************************************************

NancyDamiano_headshot

My space is tiny at just 10x11 and packed with some of my favorite things. Right now it's painted a serene aqua and accented with mostly black furniture. Most of my storage is open because if I don't see it, I forget about it! This room has gone through many changes throughout the years to make it functional and pretty. I'm starting to outgrow it, so I feel some changes coming on in the near future.

NancyDamiano_My2Loves_Layout

My favorite Bella projects is probably one of the simplest and quickest that I've created. Bella does color beautifully and I love the stark white background with pops of color and patterns.

Well, I must say when I look at these photos I absolutely WISH my room looked like this now. This is my scrap room the day it was completed. It's so clean and organized and I vowed to keep it this way! When I started my own business 3 years ago my very sweet hubby decided I needed my own scrap space. He built me my very own scrap office/workroom behind our home. I LOVE it! This is only two views of the room, but there is also another wall of storage and my office desk area with my computer, printers, and electronic cutters. It's the perfect workspace! Of course it didn't stay looking like this. Now it's chaos and looks like a bomb went off in it! Maybe he secretly wanted my mess out of the house, you think?  Just kidding, he cleans for me when it gets really bad. I got it made, my own scrap space and a handy picker upper!

Julie_Scrap room pics 006

JulieJohnson_Brrr,babyit'scoldoutside_layout

This is my favorite layout for a few reasons. I LOVE this collection. I think it's the colors. The combination is different and I love the prints, the stickers, and the miniature stickers. This layout came together with very little thought because I am so inspired to create using these papers. I also love this layout because it has photos on it when my children were younger. I love remembering the special moments we shared and it brings back so many fond memories of my days on the ski slopes with them. Now that they are older, off at college and doing their own thing, I don't get many moments like this. They grow up way too fast!

I love that I have a space of my own and love that I can work on a project and just step away from it if I need to. My room used to be our dining room, so this is such a nice change! In my room I have a lot of items that bring back memories. A yellow chair that used to sit in my grandparents dining room, a desk my husband & I bought at a yardsale for $5 and refinished, a drafting table from my husband {then boyfriend} when I was going to college, a paper tower from my LSS that closed down last year, & last but not least my grandpa's old trunk where I keep all my bella blvd goodies.

Megan_Space2

Megan_layout

The "I heart summer" layout wins the title of  my favorite Bella layout so far simply because it makes me smile. I love how the contrast of the black & white photo looks against the bright colors of the Sunshine & Happiness collection. I had fun with this layout and it feels like "me".

****************************************************************

I work from home part time, so I am lucky to have a dedicated room which is half for work and half for scrapbooking. I am always trying to find better ways to store my scrapbooking supplies, but at the moment am finding a combination of cropper hoppers for paper and cardstock and boxes and baskets for embellishments works well. I just wish it looked as tidy as this at the moment!

Sweet cheeks_KA_newsletter layout_full layout

I love this layout for a number of reasons. Firstly the photo – I really miss this stage now that Benson is 7 and it was lovely to go back a scrap a baby photo. Secondly, the Baby Boy range is just so cute and worked so well with this photo. The range uses great colors that I just love and I find are really versatile. Lastly, the design – I really like the fall of stars down the right hand side of the photo and how it draws your eye to the title.

When I bought my home there wasn't a real scrap room, my actual scrap space was the kitchen. To have my scrap room I have transformed the kitchen in a kitchenette! I feel quiet and relaxed when I am here and all the bad thoughts are far away from me.

I love this page because it has a meaning very important! I absolutely love the fact that I have used many Bella boulevard products and mixed them together. I love the circular photo, every single detail of it, I look and look at it a lot of times andt makes me smile always.

My scrap space is small! But it is perfect! I just have to be creative in how I maximize my space. When you open the door to my scrap space, this is what you see. My makeshift desk is a $20 door from Home Depot resting on 2 file cabinets! I have a CD/DVD case that I spray painted and use to hold punches and random stuff. I also use a lot of containers from the dollar spot at Target (pink baskets on top of the shelves) to hold loose, little stuff.

This card just might be my very favorite card ever :) I love all the fun flowers in the Sunshine & Happiness line and I am digging using purple more than I ever have before! Other than that, I can't tell you why I love this card. I just do!

This is my office, my happy place, my creative escape. I love it because it's spacious enough for my son to play at his computer and my hubs to hang out reading his iPad or playing his guitar. The three of us spend a lot of time together here. You might notice from the close up of my shelves that I use a lot of vintage wood boxes and old canning jars to store my goodies in. When I'm not paper crafting, I love to hunt for vintage treasures!

I have a super small scrap space. We live in a little 1950s bungalow, and let me tell ya, the builders hardly built closets much less a place to create and craft! SO we took out a half bath that was in our laundry room (who puts a bathroom in with the laundry anyway?!) and converted it into a little space for my supplies. I use it more as a storage space than anything. I like to watch a movie or TV shows while I scrap, so I usually bring everything out to our coffee table. To make as much space as possible, I house a lot of my supplies on the shelving unit. I keep my paper in Cropper Hopper cases lined along the window, and I keep my punches, embossing folders, and cards I've created all in baskets.  What you can't see is my die-cut machine and the storage unit of cartridges that's underneath my desk.

Even though I created this layout in the Fall, it's still my favorite Bella Blvd project. I really enjoyed layering the papers, stitching on the "Hello my name is..." sticker, and creating the title. It doesn't hurt that the photo is one of my absolute favorites too.

It’s not the most beautiful scrap room, but it’s where I go every day. It’s my happy place where I get to visit my favorite toys. It’s clean for now and organized so I can share with you all what it normally wouldn’t look like. LOL.

NSD Celebration: Where Bella's Altered Project Designers Create & Their Favorite Project

I have split today's shares into FIVE posts, that will go up throughout the day. So you'll want to keep checking back in with us. When the last post of the day rolls around, we will be doing a HUGE giveaway as well. It's a HUGE one, and it's not just Bella goodies ;)

We already checked out more about our Local Artista Designers. Next up, let's learn more about where our Altered Project Designers create and what their favorite Bella projects are!

My space is an actual bedroom that I turned into a room full of things I love. I have a desk that sits in the middle of the room, facing a TV. I love the background noise as I scrapbook. I have two ikea units that hold albums, stamps, die cutting accessories, etc. Across the desk I do have another organizational system with many drawers. This is where I keep various embellishments, and trinkets. All my paper is housed in vertical paper holders. This is definitely a place I love to create.

I chose this altered frame as my favorite project. I love the sunshine & happiness collection, and felt it was perfect to add a bit of colorful inspiration. This was created for CHA, and I included some of my favorite elements. I used a butterfly as an embellishment, and created a simple garland out of the papers to fit across the top of the frame. I love the fun design, and this will definitely add a piece of sunshine to any room!

I just recently bought some new furniture for my office/scrap space and I am LOVING it. But I HAD to share with you my very favorite piece! This desk from IKEA is the best thing EVER. It is the perfect size at little over 4 feet long by 2 feet wide and the top is GLASS which is the part I love because I can store projects UNDER the glass and still see them :))  Next to pretty paper, I love this BEST!

Jennifer_Cupcake Stand

I had to HARDEST time choosing only ONE favorite Bella project. But from the past few months, I think this is one of my faves.  I loved every second of creating this cupcake stand and trust me, there were A LOT of seconds, as it took HOURS to get each piece just right. The finished product is absolutely one of my very favorites :))

I reorganized my scraproom/office in our spare bedroom about 15 months ago when I changed jobs and learned that I would work from home full-time soon. My scrap space is on the right side of the room and my work desk is on the left side. I furnished the whole room with Ikea furniture and storage. Most of the brown and pink containers are recycled boxes that I altered with paper. I really like my space: it is really convenient and I never have trouble finding what I am looking for. I love the color I chose for the walls, which is really neutral, and also the fact that there is a lot of natural light because of the big window.

My favorite project is the fall rooster. I just love the colors of the Finally Fall collection and I really liked altering this big piece of wood.

Typically when I create, my scrappy desk is "creative organized chaos" with lots of stamps and fun, trendy product, and it just feeds my creative energy for putting together my latest project. Seriously, check out that Bella picture of goodies? I'm talking MAJOR love for some cuteness and full on inspiration!  Lately, my Bella favs are the High Five Alphabets & Designer Tapes because they are perfect for my mini book projects. I'm usually creating while watching a movie on my Macbook, listening to some tunes, and sometimes I confess to singing/dancing it out while I'm creating, it's all good, you know.

WMorris_In My Scrap Space_Pic2

WMorris_This Life_Favorite Bella Project

In this mini book, I reflected on these bits & pieces of Spring to capture "this life", but most importantly this period in my life -- a season to reflect on change, new happenings buzzing, and the blooming of a new life. Butterflies were my focal inspiration throughout the book, so you will see them sprinkled here & there as this play on repetition and meaning throughout the book.  Also, always remembering to enjoy life, enjoy today, have adventures, and experience love.

Next up, we will check out our Card Designers, and see where they create and what their favorite Bella projects are!

My scrap space is my favorite color. Pink, with the black & white accents. I love fun girly things, and I like things with in arms reach, so my space is perfect. My most treasured thing in my scrap area is the calendar that my daughter made me for Christmas.

WendyW desk 2

This is by far one of my favorite layouts I have created for Bella. Not just because I love the photo of my daughter and me, but because it marked a very new chapter of my life with her, just the 2 of us.

This photo shows my overall work space, which is actually the formal dining room in our house. I love that my scrapbook room is on the main level of the house, so that I can be involved with the family, housework, laundry, etc. The highlight of my room is my purple countertops that I just love, and all of my IKEA Expedit shelves, which help me to stay organized. I have one of my Expedit shelves that holds all of my albums, completed or in the works.

I chose this Happy Birthday banner as one of my favorite Bella projects (hard to pick), since I love parties with a THEME and enjoy planning parties. I thought this was a good one. I coordinated my daughter's invite and birthday layouts in her albums all using Bella Blvd (mainly sophisticates and socialite). It worked out great!! I am all about the matchy matchy.

OK - This is a bad time to ask for pictures of my scrap space. I have so much going on right now - helping to plan a June wedding, running a scrapbook store, and I'm getting ready for a big weekend away. So, at the moment, this is what my scrap space looks like. I know, it looks totally unorganized, but I assure you, I know where everything is!  I'm only letting you see one half of thescrap table because the rest is too crazy to show (you can imagine just how bad it is if I showed you the "neat" area). Anyway, I really don't sit at the table at all. I usually krop on a little tv tray in the room with all my goodies surrounding me. I pop in a movie and badda bing - I'm set to go. The second picture is of one of my shelving units with all my Bella paper and cardstock. I do believe I'm going to need more space pretty soon!

Beth_Space2

I have enjoyed creating with Bella products from day one, and I'm so thankful that Stephanie has given me this opportunity. It's so hard to choose a "Favorite", but if I had to, I would have to say the most fun and creative project that I have done is my Spell Book, using Too Cute To Spook. I had a blast making this Halloween cook book!

Beth_FavProject

The project I picked as one of my favorites I've created using Bella Blvd is a tri-fold card. I made this during our Cricut Team-up using the Sophisticates Line. I love it because it is different than your standard card. The embossing folders were awesome to add some dimension to a card.

My Scrap Space is part of my bedroom, so I need lots of storage in a small spot. I have a big desk & hutch from IKEA. LOVE IT! I also try to use the wall, with my Making Memories display I can see all my flowers, paint & twine!

My scrap space is all packed up to spend National Scrapbooking Day (actually a three day weekend) with all of my scrappy pals. As you can see from the photo I have plenty to take along with me. I'll tell you a secret, this isn't all of the stuff I'm taking with me. It's just that it all wouldn't fit into the picture! Happy National Scrapbook Day!

Sheri_Favorite

My all time favorite Bella Blvd project by far is the Halloween Flag Bouquet that I made for Summer CHA 2011. Halloween is my favorite holiday, so when I found out that Bella Blvd was releasing a Halloween themed product line, I was beyond excited to get to play with it! I created this bouquet with the Too Cute To Spook line.

We have a card filled post for you today. A few birthday cards, a baby card, and lots of bright and happy summer and flowery cards! I also wanted to remind everyone that Saturday is National Scrapbook Day. We will have several posts going up, throughout the day, with shares from all of our design team members. Obviously the Baby Girl line is perfect for all your girly layouts and projects. But you know what else it is great for? Birthday stuff! This line has all kinds of cupcakes in it (paper, stickers, chipboard) that work for birthdays too! And because you can never have enough extra birthday cards on hand, I whipped up a couple using lots of the cupcakes from the Baby Girl collection.

I have not ever been much of a purple fan, but I sure am enjoying using the purple in the Sunshine and Happiness line! And I am still pretty obsessed with hand-cutting all the flowers out of the patterned paper! What fun cards they make!

Loving the Designer Tapes from Bella Blvd! I used a few strips of tape and then cut out a shape from it to create this look. I love how it turned out and it’s super easy to make or mix up with all of Bella Blvd’s Designer Tapes.

I created a fun chevron patter with the papers for the border here, by using my punch and fitting them together. Love how this turned out too. It’s such a great way to show off the pretty papers in this line too.

With so many fun patterned papers in the Sunshine & Happiness collection, I just had to use a little bit of each one on this card. Creating sunbursts is a great way to use up your scraps of paper too, since a little bit goes a long way.

LoredanaBucaria_FunnyDays

“Funny Days”, by Loredana Bucaria.

Today I want to share with you some little ideas in order to use the new embellishments! I have used the designer tapes, which are amazing, to create some little frames behind the pictures. You can use some dimension adhesive to give even more emphasis to the photos! Play with them mixing the way you insert them in your page! Play with lovely and tiny strips of papers, they are gorgeous on a white background! At the end add some little details!

I love the bright happy colors of the Sunshine Happiness line! It such a versatile line and I think it looks great with these pictures of my son at a local theme park. I cut some different patterns of yellow patterned paper for my sun "rays" and added a pocket of denim to add texture and a fun spin to the page. A few of my favorite photos and some chipboard complete this springtime layout.

Supplies:
Sunshine Happiness: Happy Clouds, Sunny Side Up, Miniatures; Making the Team: Wall of Fame; Winter Wonder: Icy; Family Dynamix: Quadrants; Flags: Summer; Designer Tape: Pickle Juice Dot; Ciao Chip Versatile Elements: Clouds; Simply Simona Chipboard Alphas: White Numbers, Pickle Juice

KatherineMcElvain_My Neighbor

“My Neighbor”, by Katherine McElvain

One of my favorite products of the Bella release this season is all the new chipboard icons. I wanted to highlight a few of those cuties on this layout. I stitched a couple of circles and plopped the chipboard in those spots with some other fun Bella pieces. The rest of the circles were filled with coordinating Bella prints. It was fun to search though my new and old patterns to come up with a combination of yellow orange and turquoise to create a summery background.

Sunshine & Happiness Mini Albums

ALTERED PROJECTS

Today, we have another mini album to share with you. I just love how Designer Gretchen McElveen, used the Sunshine & Happiness collection, to create this fun Disney themed mini album!

Gretchen McElveen_S&H_mini album1

"We Love Disney" mini album, by Gretchen McElveen.
{A Winter CHA Project}

I have to confess ... I am not much of a mini album maker. I feel like they take me much longer they should! BUT, whenever I do get around to making one, I usually like the end result. Like this one! I am quite proud of this Disney mini made with the Sunshine & Happiness line. Yep! It's a Disney album with very non-Disney products! You gotta love products with such versatility!

To make this mini album, I actually cut a sheet of 12x12 chipboard into 4x6 pieces. I covered the chipboard pages with patterned paper and then sanded the edges well. Sanding the edges gets rid of any excess paper over the edge of the chipboard and just helps the edges look smoother and neater. To bring a little "Disney" into the album I punched black cardstock with a Mickey ears punch (from EK Success) and added one "Mickey" to each page of the album. With a "Mickey" on each page, I hoped to add some consistency and flow throughout the album.
