FRIDAY WITH STEPHANIE

MAKING A MESS

Well hello there. Long time no see! How are you? I’m great, thanks for asking - even though my staff and I can be found buried under piles and piles that look a lot like this.

BOOTH SNEAK 00

And this.

Why? (you ask).

Well, in conjunction with celebrating Bella’s fourth birthday, I thought it would be fun to give us a fresh, new look. I had this c-r-a-z-y idea to refresh our CHA booth entirely. And by that I mean NEW BOOTH. NEW WALLS. NEW FLOOR. NEW EVERYTHINGFrom head to toe we are in make-over mode!

Today I’m giving you a peek into the recent excitement & craziness that is planning, prepping, saw dust, hot glue and many more (Martha Stewart) related adventures ;)

BOOTH SNEAK 0

After several hours of brainstorming, a plan is captured on paper (something like this) in efforts to get my entire team on the same page.

BOOTH SNEAK 3

Then we begin sourcing, shopping, making a mess and making things.

BOOTH STUFF0

BOOTH STUFF1

BOOTH SNEAK 2

It’s a lot of fun and ideas start coming to life.  The booth begins going up.

BOOTH SNEAK 1

And details are added.

BOOTH SNEAK 4

BOOTH SNEAK 5

And pieces begin to be placed.

BOOTH STUFF4

Because our new fabrics with Riley Blake (insert link) are so delicious I really wanted to show them off in the new booth, so we hired an extremely talented seamstress to create a lot of fun stuff including this.

BOOTH STUFF5

And this too.

BOOTH STUFF6

We have this AWESOME new pink floor. Swoon!

BOOTH STUFF2

More projects and finishing touches are in progress and will be completed soon, because the crate(s) will be shipping to CHA in Chicago next week!

BOOTH STUFF3

BOOTH STUFF7

NEW PRODUCT ARRIVING

….yippy skippy! Some of the new products are arriving by the truckloads!!! We will be shipping our NEW NEW NEW products shortly after CHA, in early August! Woot woot!

SNEAK PEEK WEEK

Sneak peek week will begin July 9th for your hungry eyes, so be sture to stop by each day! July 9th - 13th

And, in the meantime we have a fun, patriotic themed week starting on Monday! Laura and the girls have come up with some fresh features and great ideas for the Independence holiday that you’re going to love.

So excited! Happy Friday peeps! Off to finish this booth.

Bella Blvd & Unity Stamp Co. Inspiration Day

BELLA AND UNITY

We are back with another Bella Blvd & Unity Stamps Inspiration Day! I asked a few of our Card Designers to use whatever stamps they were feeling inspired by, and to come up with some clever ways to use them. Let's see what they came up with!

GailHoecker_Hello My Friend

“Hello My Friend” card, by Gail Hoecker.

I stamped and embossed two of the flowers and leaves from the Bella Fiori stamp set. I cut them out and added some stitching for the stems. Added a few pops of color with the Baby Girl Snuggly Safari and Pink High Five Alphabets. It was fun to get my embossing powders out and play around. I hadn’t done that in long time.

GailHoecker_Hello My Friend2

Supplies:
Sunshine & Happiness: Petal Power, Sunny Side Up; Baby Girl: Snuggly Safari; High Five Alpha Stickers: Green, Pink; Too Cute to Spook: Miniatures; Unity Stamp: Bella Fiori

GailHoecker_Dream Big

“Dream Big Birthday Boy” card, by Gail Hoecker.

Yep, I glittered again! Not only did I glitter but I glittered on a “boy” card! I love the Mr. Boy stamp set, especially the dinosaur. I use that one a lot since my grandson is obsessed with dinosaurs right now. He’s five so I’m guessing I can use these stamps for another 10 years before he tells me to stop!

Supplies:
Mr Boy: Quadrants, Cute Cuts; Quattrofina Alpha Stickers: Peep and Saffron; Unity Stamps: Mr Boy

DeannaMisner_HowsItHangin_Junecard copy

"How's it Hangin'?" card, by Deanna Misner.

I adore this little monkey stamp, and I have just the person who's going to love this card. One of our little friends LOVES monkeys, so I plan to send this card to her while she's away at summer camp. To make him hang in the tree, I used the tree from the Cute Cuts paper, and embellished it with hand-cut leaves from the Borders paper. It's a fun and whimsical card that I hope she'll love!

Supplies:
Sunshine & Happiness: Petal Power, Cute Cuts, Borders; Baby Girl: Daddy's Girl; Quattrofina Alpha Stickers: Yellow; High Five Alpha Stickers: Yellow; Unity Stamp: Let the Spoiling Begin

DeannaMisner_BirdieToldMe_Junecard

"A little Birdie Told Me" card, by Deanna Misner.

For this card I tried a little something different. I don't have stamping ink that is white, so I applied my favorite white mist to the small flower stamp with a paint brush. Although the images aren't perfect like they would be with stamping ink, I still really like the way they look--kind of washed out. I repeated the pattern in each circle, and then stamped the sentiment across the top.

Supplies:
Baby Boy: It's A Boy; Baby Girl: Pretty in Pink; Unity Stamps: Let the Spoiling Begin, Birdie Told Me

KathyMartin_Perfect Pear_Card

“Great Pear” card, by Kathy Martin.

For this card I used one of my favorite prints from the Sunshine & Happiness collection, the back side of the Sunnyside Up paper. I really like all those circles! I repeated the colors when choosing stamp ink, patterned papers and Designer Tape. I also double stamped my pear image to lighten the color. You can do that by stamping it first on a piece of scratch paper and then onto your card. Double stamping and using textured card stock creates this distressed look.

Supplies:
Sunshine & Happiness: Sunnyside Up, Borders, Great Pair Stamp; Button Market: Neutrals Mix; Designer Tape: Pickle Juice Dot

KathyMartin_It'saGirl.Card

“It’s a Girl” card, by Kathy Martin.

When you have a great collection of coordinating patterned papers like in the Bella Blvd. Baby Girl line, it’s easy to create fun backgrounds like I did with this card. Just a few strips will do. It’s a great way to get a lot of mileage out of your supplies and use up those scraps. The little dress stamp is the cutest and it’s super fun to color! Wouldn’t it look sweet on a birthday card too?

WEDNESDAY LAYOUTS

KNeddo-You 3 color my world Free-for-All-1

“You 3 Color My World”, by Kimberly Neddo.

I thought I would change things up a little with this project, by using black and white photographs with a LOT of color in the background. I love working with the Hexagon shapes, so this was a fun background to create with a ton of different patterned papers. I love how this turned out!

SueMylde_LOBigSis

"Best Sis Ever", by Sue Mylde.

Hello Summer! Lara's been waiting to wear this T-Shirt for a long time! She loves the 'Best Sis Ever' sentiment! I took this opportunity to snap and make a page of her in her fave new shirt! After all, she is the Best Sis Ever! Although there are two blocks here on the page - for the title and for the main photos, I repeated the layers of strips under the title to tie the page together. I wanted the theme of the design to reflect the bright summer sun in the photos to achieve a fun, whimsical feel.

SummerSunday_LoredanaBucaria

“Summer Sunday”, by Loredana Buccaria.

I love Summer! Relaxing days, sun, beach, sea and friends. After a long year it's time to relax and enjoy the season. I love bright colors , the sunshine, the sound of the waves and the good days with surprise. Like Sunday, when a group of friends came to my city to visit me and we spent a really lovely day smiling, talking a lot, eating yummy food and laughing so much. I wanted to express all this with colors, and the Sunshine & Happiness collection was perfect for this layout. I love those colors they make me so happy and free.

JulieJohnson_Wasn't me_layout (Medium)

“Wasn't Me”, by Julie Johnson.

This is our 1 year old puppy, Diesel. What were we thinking leaving our leather couch outside?  Definitely not too smart and we found this out the hard way. But, it's a great way to get new furniture!! Anyway, I have always loved the colors in the Tail Waggers & Cat Naps collection.  You really don't even need to use it for dog or cat photos, it would be a great collection for all kinds of photos because the paper is so versatile on the prints. Just a few are geared specifically for dog or cat. I love to layer paper, especially with Bella's papers! So for this layout I cut some shapes, layered the papers, and then added a few die cut shapes to add some details. I added my title using the Alpha+Bits stickers and I couldn't resist using the "trouble maker" embellishment from the Chit Chat chipboard. The final touch was a bow made of ribbon and twine with a Bella Flag through it.

Altered Projects

ALTERED PROJECTS

It's been a while since we last shared some altered projects with you, and today we hope to make up for lost time. We have three fun altered projects, one of which includes a tutorial, and a unique mini album. We hope you enjoy them!

MJHamel_AlteredArt_DeskCalendarAndCard1

Desk Calendar and Thank You card, by Marie-Josée Hamel.

I created this gift for my daughter's teacher: a desk calendar for the next school year, as well as an assorted thank you card. I decided to use the beautiful Making the Team collection, because it has nice and bright colors. As you can see, this collection is really versatile and can be used for any project, even the ones that are not sports related. They can also be combined with other elements, such as the new Ciao chip Versatile Elements (for this project, I used the Clouds and Trees).

MJHamel_AlteredArt_DeskCalendar3

I created my calendar using a word processing software and printed it on white cardstock.

MJHamel_AlteredArt_DeskCalendar1

Then, I used my binding machine to punch holes and add a wire.

MJHamel_AlteredArt_DeskCalendar2

Using thin chipboard, I created the base of my calendar and covered it with paper. Then, I adhered the calendar to the base and added embellishments, such as stickers and chipboard.

MJHamel_AlteredArt_Card1

Supplies:
Making the Team: Soccer, Wall of Fame, Quadrants; Hello Beautiful: Alpha+Bits Stickers; Sunny Happy Skies: Alpha+Bits Stickers; Button Market: Masculine Mix; Ciao Chip Versatile Elements: Clouds, Trees

MJHamel_KeepsakeBox_Alteredart5

Baby Keepsake Box, by Marie-Josée Hamel.

I am sure that just like me, lots of moms have kept many things that remind them of their newborn baby. I decided it was time to store these tiny clothes in a cute box that can be displayed, so I altered a gift box using the Baby Girl collection along with some Designer Tape and Crochet Flowers. This is an easy project.

MJHamel_KeepsakeBox_Alteredart2

All I had to do was measure all sides of the box, cut papers accordingly and adhered them to the box. I used double sided tape, but you can use any type of glue. When that was done, I added Designer Tape to the corners as well as to the top and bottom of the sides.

MJHamel_KeepsakeBox_Alteredart1\

I also punched some borders out of the Punch Sophisticates paper to add more color and adhered them on top of the Designer Tape.

MJHamel_KeepsakeBox_Alteredart4

Then, I decorated the top of the box using a picture of my daughter when she was a day old, as well as some chipboards and stickers. I finished by adding a pink ribbon.

Supplies:
Baby Girl: Pretty in Pink, Sweet Dreams, Borders, Alpha+Bits Stickers, Chipboard Icons; Sophisticates: Punch; Designer Tape: Pink Stripe, Yellow Chevron, Pickle Juice Dot; Crochet Flowers: Daisies

Jennifer Edwardson Shelf 10

Altered Wooden Shelf, by Jennifer Edwardson.

I created this altered wooden shelf for my daughter's room. I put together this little tutorial, to show you my process.

Jennifer Edwardson Shelf 1

I often will find pieces that are slightly damaged or just need a little love and then totally re-create them. This shelf is exactly that. When I found it in the clearance bin it was a mess. I didn't like the color and the hooks were all broken.

Jennifer Edwardson Shelf 2

The framed out sections were supposed to be chalkboard but it just didn't work for what I wanted so I bought it at a great price, removed the chalkboard piece and got to work.

Jennifer Edwardson Shelf 4

After taking the remaining pieces of the hooks off, I used a flat spray paint to cover the entire shelf.

Jennifer Edwardson Shelf 5

Jennifer Edwardson Shelf 6

Once I had it painted, I lightly sanded off the edges all around to give it a more weathered look.

Jennifer Edwardson Shelf 7

I cut pieces of patterned paper to cover the chalkboard and adhered them before I attached the board back to the shelf.

Jennifer Edwardson Shelf 8

I then created paper pinwheel flowers and added stickers and chipboard alphas to embellish. I love how the shape of the shelf is the same, but it looks completely different. Just add a little paint, new hooks and some fabulous Bella Blvd product and Emma has a new shelf for her room!
{Jennifer has posted a tutorial on her blog for creating the pinwheel flowers, which you can see HERE}

Jennifer Edwardson Shelf 9

Supplies:
Baby Girl: Pretty In Pink, Daddy's Girl, Borders, Snuggly Safari, It's A Girl, Cute Cuts, Alphas+Bits; Sunshine & Happiness: Just Write Journaling Stickers, Miniatures Stickers, Chipboard Icons; Ciao Chip: Stars, Hearts

KM_SummerMini_1

"Happiness" mini album, by Katherine McElvain.

Ah it's summer time...time to take some great pictures, and do some documenting of the families fun and (with four kids) not so relaxing days in the sun. This year I planned ahead and created a mini album to collect my summer memories. I made the album myself using file folders, envelopes with cards, and of course the Bella Blvd Sunshine and Happiness products.

KM_SummerMini_2

KM_SummerMini_3

KM_SummerMini_4

I call this album a fold and flap mini because by placing the cards in the envelopes and folding them over, it creates a flap on each page in which to include photos or journaling. I simply covered the envelopes and cards in Bella paper to make it colorful and pretty.

KM_SummerMini_5

KM_SummerMini_7

The file folders are trimmed down to make the cover and the binding for the album. I attached the envelopes to the file folder binding to make the pages.

KM_SummerMini_6

Since each page is made from an envelope there is an additional pocket in each where you can include more peeks in the form of slide outs, like this cute Sophisticates calendar.

KM_SummerMini_8

KM_SummerMini_9

All the flaps and pockets allows for a load of summer memories to be collected. My book is pretty generic right now, waiting for all the summer fun to happen. Soon I will be able to add all my photos, journaling, and of course more of those cute Bella products to make it complete!

Supplies:
Sunshine and Happiness: Petal Power, Sunny Side Up, Play Date, Popsicle Kisses, Happy Clouds, Borders, Cute Cuts, Alpha+Bits Stickers, Miniatures Stickers; Baby Boy: Baby Blue; Easter Flings & Spring Things: Mom's Bouquet; Finally Fall: The Patch; Sunny Happy Skies: Pandaland

Bella Blvd Fabric Style

RILEY BLAKE AND BELLA BLVD

Today, we are excited to introduce you to Bella's newest Fabric Designer, Kathy Frye! Kathy has created two adorable pillows, using the Sunny Happy Skies fabric collection, from Riley Blake Designs.

{Riley Blake Designs markets our fabrics under Stephanie Hunt as the designer. When purchasing or searching the Riley Blake website, it's actually easier & more efficient to find the Bella Blvd fabrics under "Stephanie Hunt" as the artist.}

Kathyfrye portrait 2_blog

Hi everyone! I'm Kathy Frye. I am so blessed to be a quilter! I’ve always been interested in sewing. As a young child, I remember ‘sewing’ doll clothes. In junior high I took a sewing class, and have been sewing ever since. I made my first pieced quilt with my Grandma, when my children were small. We cut each square with a cardboard template and a scissors. So much has changed in the quilting world! I've taken classes from national and local teachers, continually learning new techniques and tricks along the way.  I’ve made so many new friends from quilting.

Now as a teacher myself, I'm excited to share my quilting passion with others. I enjoy the whole sewing/quilting process, the fabrics, designing, lots of fussing with details, what fun! My quilts have won numerous awards and ribbons, but the greatest joy is the happiness that I receive when I give a quilt to someone else. We have 6 adorable grandchildren. My quilting style has evolved again, using bright and fun fabrics for kids (there is so much more that civil war and 30’s fabrics out there!) The kids love making forts with all the quilts. Quilts are made to be used, they get softer and more character from being loved, so enjoy them, make memories with them!

I was truly honored when Stephanie from Bella Blvd asked me to help design items with her fabric line!

Kathyfrye_dream pillow_1

Dream Pillows, by Kathy Frye.

This cute little pillow features Sunny Happy Skies fabric designed by Bella Blvd for Riley Blake Designs. When this fabric arrived at my house, I was pleased with the way it felt, I could feel the quality! The designs are awesome, each one is great! The colorful floral main fabric has me inspired to make many more projects! The fabrics in this collection work together beautifully, but they are also perfect stand alone fabrics, so the possibilities are endless.

Kathyfrye_dreampillow_2

Appliqué letters:

Trace the ‘dream’ letters that are provided HERE. The letters are reversed, so that when they are fused onto the pillow top, they will be correct. Lay the sheet of fusible web product on top of the letters, trace with a pencil, (be sure to leave a small amount (1”) of space in between each letter if you are doing the multi fabric design).

If you are making the multi fabric design, cut in between each traced letter (NOT ON THE LINES), then iron the letter onto the BACK of your fabric. If you are making the letters from just one fabic, trim the fusible to a 1” around the letters as a block, then iron to the back of your fabric. After the letters are ironed onto the back of the fabric, cut each letter out ON THE TRACED LINES.

Kathyfrye_dream pillow 9

Appliquéing the letters onto pillow front

Peel the paper off of the backs of the letters. Lay a ruler across the bottom of the pink dot fabric, so that the top of the ruler is 4” from the bottom edge, use this as a guide to place the letters on the pillow front (cover the letters with the appliqué pressing sheet).

Iron the letters onto the pillow front. Place a piece of paper (computer) on the back side of the pillow front, pin or tape it in place (away from letters) This is a stabilizer for appliquéing. Applique the letters with a SATIN STITCH (zig zag stitch that is set close together). Use thread that matches the letter.

Kathyfrye_dream pillow_3

Hint, use a needle down position when appliquéing. Pivot when the needle is in the outside of a curve so the thread covers the pivot. On an inside curve, pivot with the needle on the inside. After appliquéing, remove the paper stabilizer from the back. Bring threads to back, trim.

Kathyfrye_dream pillow 4

Front Border

Pin the front border fabric, right sides together to the left edge of the pillow front. Sew it with a 1/4” seam allowance. Iron the seam allowance towards the border. Take a skinny piece of fusible web product and center it on the rick rack (use a appliqué pressing sheet under the rick rack). Remove the paper (cover with part of appliqué pressing sheet) and iron in place. Now lay the rick rack over the seam line between the border and the main pillow front. Use a ruler to keep it straight. Iron-fuse it in place.

Kathyfrye_dream pillow 8

Quilt the pillow top

Quilt the pillow top as desired. I free motioned around each letter and did some hearts and flowers. I also stitched a wavy line down the center of the rick rack.

Kathyfrye_dream pillow 6

Finishing the pillow

Trim up the pillow top centering the ‘dream’, to 13” high by 17” wide. Finish the edges of the pillow back pieces by folding a side edge (directional fabric) under 1 ½”, press, then unfold and fold the edge to that crease  Refold, press so that you have a finished edge. Topstitch ¼” from the inside edge. Repeat with the 2nd back piece, hem the other side (directional fabric, so the hems face each other).

Kathyfrye_dream pillow_5

Lay the finished pillow top right side up. Lay one back on top, right sides together, positioning hemmed edge towards center. Lay the second back on top, right sides together, positioning hemmed edge toward center, overlapping the first back piece. Pin pieces in place.

Using a 1/2” seam allowance, stitch around the outside edge. Trim and clip the corners. Turn right side out through middle opening. Use a turning tool to push out corners. Press. Insert the 12 x 16 pillow form.

Kathyfrye_dreampillow_10

Dream Pillow Supplies: (to make 1 pillow)

1/2 yard C2734 Pink Sunny Dot – for pillow front
1/2 yard C2730 Sunny Main for pillow border and back
1/4 yard C2732 Pink Sunny Floral, C2732 Green Sunny Floral, C2732 Yellow Sunny Lace, C2733 Blue Sunny Lace - for appliqué letters

12” x 16” pillow form
1/2 yard of fusible fleece
Thread to match appliqué fabrics
1/2 yard pink Rick Rack, 1” wide
Fusible web product (I use Lite Steam a Seam 2) (Read package directions)
Optional – appliqué pressing sheet

Cutting Directions:

Pink Sunny Dot – (1) 14 1/2” square
Sunny Main - (2) 13” squares and (1) strip 4” x 14 1/2” (this is a directional fabric so be sure to cut the pieces the same direction)

Bella Blvd & Core'dinations Team-Up: Day Five

TEAM_UP_BB and CORDINATIONS-large

We have had so much fun this week, during our Bella Blvd & Core'dinations team-up! We hope you have enjoyed all of the projects, both by our Bella designers and Core'dinations designers.

Jennifer edwardson CORE Team Up 3

“Love”, by Jennifer Edwardson.

Emma rides A LOT so needless to say I have a ton of photos of her on a horse. I am that scrapbooker that is always looking to use product for something other than the 'theme' it was created for.  With this shot of Emma and her newest horse (a girl this time :)), I chose Bella's Baby Girl collection. I used a white base from the Coredinations 'Spotted' cardstock (my new fave) and lightly sanded off the top. I also cut a strip from a brown piece of spotted cardstock and ran it through a border punch and then sanded the top to show the dots. After I had my borders and patterned paper where I wanted them I added desginer tape and embellishments too.  I braided (3) colors of twine together to create the heart and added stickers, a flag and a crochet flower.  I often will cut stickers to make them work for me which is what I did to the 'it doesn't get better then this' sticker. It worked much better for my layout when I cut it into pieces.

Gretchen McElveen_Coordinations_Baby Girl layout

"Baby girl", by Gretchen McElveen.

I used the soft yellow sheets of Jillian Dot Spotted cardstock from Core'dinations as the background for this baby layout. I love how the subtle dots make the background cardstock so much more interesting. I also pulled out the purple sheet of Jillian Dot Spotted cardstock and then combined the yellow and purple with Bella Blvd's "Baby Girl" line. The colors go perfectly together! I used the purple cardstock as the background for my title and punched a few hearts out of it also. Then I sanded the purple cardstock to bring out the white underneath to create a fun polka-dotted look for the title and hearts!

Here I go on my purple kick again! And the purple cardstock in the Jillian Dot Spotted cardstock pack from Core'dinations matches perfectly with the purple in the "Baby Girl" line. I sanded the cardstock to create a fun polka-dotted background for the card. I love how this dotted cardstock can jazz up a background so easily!

“Eat”, by Vivian Masket.

When I first saw the Core'dinations Tillie Dot Spotted cardstock I thought of cupcakes with sprinkles and this photo of my daughter. I used my Silhouette to die cut a 6" tall cupcake and wrapper, cutting the cupcake from pink Core'dinations Tillie Dot Spotted cardstock and the wrapper from the B side of the Happy Clouds paper. Although I used a die cutting machine, this would be very simple to re-create with scissors. I sanded the cupcake to reveal the polka dots and then adhered my wrapper to it. I decided to play up the chevron theme, adding a strip of chevron-print designer tape (adhered over white cardstock) and a chevron-print chipboard heart. I echoed the polka dot pattern in the giant cupcake by using white Core'dinations Tillie Dot Spotted cardstock as the layout base and added a scalloped polka dot chipboard border below my photo and behind the giant cupcake. Final touches include designer tape and a journaling sticker (more chevron!), a cupcake flag, and letters in coordinating colors (stolen from the word "beautiful" from the Baby Girl Chipboard Icons set).

“Christmas Photos 2011”, by Alice Carman.

There’s a really funny story behind this layout. Last year my hubby and I decided to take holiday photos, but we didn’t know anyone who had an eye for taking pictures. We took it upon ourselves to set up the camera and take pictures. Little did we know our Dog, Frodo felt left out so he jumped into the picture. This is how we ended up with our cropped holiday photo.

Bella Blvd & Core'dinations Team-Up: Day Four

TEAM_UP_BB and CORDINATIONS-large

We hope you have been enjoying all of the projects this week, during our team-up with Core'dinations. I know that our Design Team members had a lot of fun putting these layouts and cards together, and loved the challenge of mixing in lots and lots of gorgeous cardstock! The Core'dinations designers have been sharing amazing projects on their blog as well, and we have loved seeing what they all came up with.

Jennifer edwardson CORE Team Up 2

“Sunshine and Happiness”, by Jennifer Edwardson.

This picture of Emma is a favorite that I hadn't yet added to her album. She is 11 yrs old now and was 5 in the photo. The colors of the Sunshine & Happiness collection was exactly what I needed to get me motivated. The Coredinations cardstock was the perfect addition to the bright Bella patterns. I chose a yellow 'spotted' piece for the base and sanded the top off to have the dots pop. To add to the blue in the flowers, clouds and Emma's bathing suit I chose a piece of solid from the 'brights' collection and ran it through my Big Shot with a floral embossing folder to match the flowers of the patterned paper. I have been a big Coredinations fans for a very long time and just love the versatility and dimension that it adds to any project.

As a card maker I rarely do layouts, but I had a lot of fun with my Bella Blvd layouts. I hope you like them because it’s my first EVER Design Team layout!

VivianMasket_Garden_Layout

“Garden”, by Vivian Masket.

I used Core'dinations Tillie Dot Spotted cardstock on this layout in two ways: 1) as parts of embellishments created by combining die-cut and sanded bits of cardstock with Bella Blvd products, and 2) as a journaling strip with the bottom edge torn to reveal the inner core color of the cardstock. I pulled the bright colors from the photo and played around with contrast on the bottom half of the layout. On the top half of the layout, the sanded cardstock leaves are tone-on-tone embellishments that mimic both the color and pattern of the B side of the Petal Power patterned paper. Touches of blue and aqua - the crochet flowers and the letter stickers - draw attention to the tone-on-tone leaves. I used color on this layout to create flow, creating visual triangles of orange, aqua, pink, and green, using products and parts of the photo as points on my triangles.

GailHoecker_PTC

"Peachtree City", by Gail Hoecker.

This layout I partnered Sunshine & Happiness with Coordinations Spotted Jillian. I sanded the Jillian using the Sand It Gadget and wiping off the excess with the Dust Buddy. Seriously, two of my newest go-to tools. With a die cut machine, I cut the title out twice. Once with the patterned paper and then again with the Jillian. I adhered the patterned title as I normally would. I then cut apart the yellow Jillian title and used only portions of it and popped those up as I adhered them to the original patterned title. After I have sanded embellies or cardstock in the past, it was sometimes hard to get the foam tape or adhesive to adhere, use the Dust Buddy and you won't have any problems!

KathyMartin_Clipboard_Alt

Magnetic & Clip Board, by Kathy Martin.

This may look like a scrapbook page, but it’s actually a bulletin board! The pinwheels have magnets attached to the back so you can easily switch out the photos. I also used mini wood clothespins that clip to the wires so you to move the banners too. Everything is interchangeable! And you know what the black wire backing is? It’s something you may already have at home. It’s a panel from one of those cubical shelving units that snap together! What a fun project this was and a great décor piece for my office! Don’t you love the combination of Core’dinations card stock and Bella Blvd. papers? Together they make for some adorable pinwheels and banners!

“Hi” card, by Kathy Martin.

I’m hooked! I really love the added texture Core’dinations card stock adds to my projects! And this Jillian Dot line looks like it was made for Bella Blvd! I used a set of square nesting dies to create this design. Then I pierced holes along the border of each square for stitching.

Bella Blvd & Core'dinations Team-Up: Day Three

TEAM_UP_BB and CORDINATIONS-large

Welcome back to day three of our week-long team-up with Core'dinations! We have a group of our Bella designers that have mixing Core'dinations wonderful cardstocks into our projects. And Core'dinations designers have been busy mixing Bella's products into their projects. We have loads of projects to share with you, so let's get started!

Gretchen McElveen_Coordinations_Biker chicks layout

"Biker Chicks", by Gretchen McElveen.

I wanted to use a lot of red and black with this picture of me and 2 of my favorite bike-riding friends. I ended up digging a bunch of "Making the Team" and the Alpha + Bits "Family Dynamix" stickers out of my Bella Blvd stash and pairing them up with the red and black sheets from the pack of Jillian Dot Spotted cardstock from Core'dinations to get the look I wanted. I sanded the dotted cardstock to create a fun subtle polka-dotted background. I added the flower from the "Making the Team" Just Write Journaling Stickers to help keep this layout girly even though I used some pretty strong colors!

Sherifeypel_SeriousGame_layout

“Serious Game Face”, by Sheri Feypel.

I started my layout with the Core'dinations Tillie Dot Spotted Cardstock. I lightly sanded the cardstock to make the dots stand out. Then I hit up my stash of scraps to create a colorful background to help my photo stand out. I used the Ciao Chip alpha to make a bold title and overlapped it on my photo to draw attention to the expression on my son's face in the photo. It really is a priceless expression to me. I framed the sides of the photo with stickers and flags as well.

Jennifer edwardson CORE Team Up 1

“Perfect Puppy”, by Jennifer Edwardson.

I was so excited to finally work with these pictures of Alex and his puppy Oscar. The colors of the 'Tail Waggers and Cat Naps' collection were the prefect match with the new Coredinations 'Spotted' cardstock. I am a total sanding block girl so this cardstock is a BIG favorite of mine. I sanded the top off of the base sheet as well as the brown cardstock too. The colors and patterns coordinated so well that I even added a strip of 'pickle juice dot' designer tape to a strip of cardstock and then used a paw print border punch on it to create a custom border shown above the 'bone' strip. After precison cutting out several of the cute cuts, I added flags, stickers and a button with twine too. I was thrilled with how it all came together.

GailHoecker_what_a_guy_card

"What A Guy" card, by Gail Hoeker.

I used an "oldie but goodie" paper called Man of the House for this card. I only have scraps left but I had it in my head to use this for a Father's Day card for my hubby. I teamed it with Spotted Jillian, sanded it and was very pleased with the results.

Supplies:
Man Of The House: Wide Tie, Bits-A-Bella, Dad's Socks

GretchenMcElveen_Coordinations_Thinking of you_card

"Thinking of You" card, by Gretchen McElveen.

I actually made this card with leftovers from my "Biker Chicks" layout. Who knew that the "Family Dynamix" and "Making the Team" lines who go so well together?! And the red and black scraps of the Jillian Dot Spotted cardstock from Core'dinations I had leftover made for the perfect background for this card!

Family Dynamix: Just Write Journaling Stickers; Making the Team: Borders; Button Market: Red Flowers; Sophisticates: Card Sentiments

Bella Blvd & Core'dinations Team-Up: Day Two

TEAM_UP_BB and CORDINATIONS-large

Welcome back to day two of our team-up up with Core'dinations. We are back to share more inspirational projects, mixing Core'dinations wonderful cardstocks with our Bella products. Did you check out what the Core'dinations designers shared yesterday? I can't wait to see what they have to share with us all today.

MeganKlauer_Besties_Layout

“Besties & Sisters”, by Megan Klauer.

One of my favorite embellishments that come with the Bella Blvd lines are the Alpha+Bits Stickers sheet. Each line has one and each sheet includes photo corner stickers. I wanted to come up with a way to use these differently so I cut a strip of the Core’dinations paper about 12x3 and adhered the photo corners to it with spacing between them. I then cut that strip vertically into 3 pieces. Once I had adhered the 3 strips to my design I ran them through the sewing machine to insure all the little pieces would stay in place. Such an easy way to extend a few stickers!

Sherifeypel_TheSand

“In The Sand”, by Sheri Feypel.

I created this layout using Core'dinations Tillie Dot Spotted Cardstock and scraps from my stash. I can't speak for anyone else, but I do accumulate the scraps/leftovers. So I dug in and tried to stick with teal-ish and yellow pattern scraps, I pulled colors from the shirt my son is wearing in the picture I was using for this layout. I also added in a bit of Designer tapes, because they are fun to play with. Then the layering begins, I added alpha's, stickers and flags to finish it off. I love the way all of the Bella Blvd products "pop" off the Core'dinations cardstock.

KNeddo-Love-1

“Love”, by Kimberly Neddo.

I love this photograph of my daughter and son. The effects I applied with the picture, was fun to bounce off with the dots in the Core'dinations paper and Bella Blvd paper. I love that we have the circular alphabets too, another way to accent on the circular theme going on with this design.

The Core’dinations dots card stock was the perfect compliment to the Chipboard Icons & the “Oh Baby” banner stickers from the Alpha+Bits Stickers made the design process quick & easy.

I really enjoyed using Core’dinations color cardstock in my card making. It’s a sturdy card and the colors work really well with Bella Blvd lines. I used the Tillie Dot set and sanded it to achieve the dotted look.

Bella Blvd & Core'dinations Team-Up: Day One

TEAM_UP_BB and CORDINATIONS-large

We have big stuff planned for you this week, and we are so excited to get things going! Bella Blvd is teaming up with Core'dinations, for a week full of inspiration. We have a group of our Bella designers that have mixing Core'dinations wonderful cardstocks into our projects. And Core'dinations designers have been busy mixing Bella's products into their projects. We have loads of projects to share with you, so let's get started!

KNeddo-She-lifts-you-up-1

“She Lifts You Up”, by Kimberly Neddo.

I was having fun going through old photograph folders and came across these photographs. I have used them before in a layout, but a couple of years later I'm able to see something different in that time period, This was when we lost my Mother in law to cancer, and these photographs really show the amazing ability my youngest daughter has on lifting spirits. It was a hard time, and she still managed to make our hearts smile through it all. The circles around this design emphasize on the connection we all have with each other. I loved the colors with the orange, greens and blues and grays, and how the brightness complimented the grays. Again, another way to encompass light in a dark situation in life.

I enjoy taking bright colors and giving them a masculine look. So many of Bella Blvd products can be mixed together, and I LOVE the versatility with all the lines and how they come together.

MeganKlauer_BathTime_layout

“She Loves Bath Time”, by Megan Klauer.

I love the Core’dinations aqua & pink dots paper. It was the perfect compliment to the Baby Girl line. A few strips of Designer Tapes & lots of punched circles to mimic the "bubble bath" photo created a quick and easy design.

Sherifeypel_coordinations_card1

“You Are Wonderful” card, by Sheri Feypel.

Every now and then I live on the edge creating an odd sized card. This card is a 5X5 square. I started with the dotted cardstock by Core'dinations and added some of the Baby Girl patterns to create a "girly" card that can be used for several different occasions.

Sherifeypel_coordinations_card2

Supplies:
Baby Girl: Snuggly Safari, Baby Cakes, Borders, Alpha+Bit Stickers

VivianMasket_SweetHeart_Card

“Sweet Heart” card, by Vivian Masket.

I created the hearts on this card by using the Stars & Hearts Ciao Chip as a texture stencil. I had used the outer aqua heart frame shape on a layout and so I just had the inner heart left on the chipboard sheet. The negative space left by the frame heart shape mimicked the heart shapes on the Daddy's Girl paper, so I used it as a texture stencil with coordinating colors of Core'dinations Tillie Dot Spotted cardstock. I placed a yellow piece of the cardstock over the Ciao Chip sheet and sanded to reveal the inner and outer heart shapes. I repeated this process with pink and aqua cardstock and then cut out all three hearts. I adhered a piece of Daddy's Girl patterned paper to a sanded yellow Core'dinations Tillie Dot Spotted cardstock card base, layered the hearts I'd created with cardstock over the patterned paper, and added Designer Tape, a Flag, and baker's twine to finish the card. I love the contrast here between the crisp clean hearts on the Daddy's Girl paper and the textured heart embellishments created with the Core'dinations cardstock.

Saturday Sketches

SATURDAY SKETCHES

Twice a month, we'll be bringing you a new sketch, and showing you a few takes on the sketch by our designers. Today, we have our second sketch for June, courtesy of Becky Fleck. We are thrilled that Becky has agreed to design exclusive sketches, just for Bella!

Bella_blvd_12x12_sketch5

Beckywilliams_clowning-around

"Clowning Around", by Becky Williams.

This was a great sketch! I ended up rotating it 90 degrees and used one large picture instead of two small ones. I also added stripes using the each of the Designer Tapes behind the picture in place of the paper and wrapped my title around two sides of the picture instead of just one.

BrookStewart_MyBoys_Layout1

"My Boys”, by Brook Stewart.

For this layout, I pretty much stuck to the general placement of the papers in the sketch, but I tweaked it a bit by re-arranging the title and embellishments. My embellishments for this layout were mostly pulled from the border paper and the sticker sheets. It's simple, but I love that it shows off 2 of my favorite guys!

"Watermelon", by Nancy Damiano.

I love all of the layers in this sketch. It was the perfect blueprint for using many different patterned papers. I added some chipboard and words horizontally to separate the photos, but kept the nice long journaling strip. I like how the pink sticker adds color and divides the layout. The empty space all around the edges, let's the red shine through without overpowering the page. A mix of Sunshine & Happiness paper, chipboard and flags complete this summertime page.

Cards On Thursdays

CARDS ON THURSDAYS

With Father's Day approaching this coming Sunday, a few of our Card Designers are sharing some creative cards with us today, just for the occasion. We also have a few baby cards to share, because you can't become a father, without having a baby ;)

Gretchen McElveen_Fathers day card

"Happy Father's Day Coach" card, by Gretchen McElveen.

You know, sometimes it is hard to make a manly card that won't make a guy cringe! :) It was all I could do to not use pink & purple flowers on these cards! I reached for the "Making the Team" line first when I started these Father's Day cards. With lots of reds, blues, and greens in this line, surely I could come up with something masculine. Throw in some stars (my go-to manly embellishment for sure!) and I was set! On both of these cards I added a greeting on the inside to coordinate with the outside of the card.

"Awesome" card, by Gretchen McElveen.

I dug a little deeper into my Bella Blvd stash to make this next card. I pulled out one of Bella Blvd's first "boyish" lines called Super Stud. It's an oldie but goodie! And I thought the "anybody can be cool but awesome takes practice" sticker would make for a fun masculine card. My dad would surely chuckle at that!

DeannaMisner_Dad_Junecard

"Dad" card, by Deanna Misner.

I created this card for my dad, who's been known to wear his fair share of bowties. He was actually doing it before it was the "in" thing to do. SO, I thought I'd use his favorite accessory to create a bright whimsical card for him. I used a tutorial I found on YouTube, which after a few tries, I got the hang of it. And they were really fun to make. I topped them off with a couple of buttons, and the inner rim of a crocheted flower.

Sunshine & Happiness: Sunny Side Up, Happy Clouds, Borders; Button Market: Pickle Squares, Aqua Flowers; Crochet Flowers: Daisies; High Five Alphabet Stickers: Blue

DeannaMisner_LoveUDad_Junecard

"Love U Dad" card, by Deanna Misner.

We think our Dad (my husband) is an all-star dad, so rather than doing a sports theme "All-Star" type card, I was inspired by the star buttons in the Button Market and focused on them instead. I also loved using the softer muted tones of the Baby Boy collection. Who says Baby Boy has to ONLY be used for babies? Not me! Oh and quick note--I used the navy letter "i" repeatedly to make the navy sticker strip you see below the tape. I wanted something to coordinate with the navy chipboard star.

Supplies:
Baby Boy: Momma's Boy, It's A Boy, Ciao Chipboard, Alpha+Bits Stickers; Designer Tape: Teal Stripe; Button Market: Stars

KathyMartin_LittleMonkey_Card

"Little Monkey” card, by Kathy Martin.

With summer CHA quickly approaching I’m reminded of the adorable new collections that Bella Blvd. debuted during the last CHA and how much fun it was to create projects for the Baby Girl and Baby Boy lines. It made me want to revisit those collections and relive the fun I had with them.

KathyMartin_LittleMonkey_Card2

Supplies: Baby Boy: Baby Blue, Wild About You, Heaven Sent, Chipboard Icons; Button Market: Neutrals Mix

KathyMartin_Princess_Card

“Princess” card, by Kathy Martin.

One of the things I like best about the Bella’s Baby Girl and Baby Boy collections are those adorable chipboard monkeys! They remind me of the book, “No More Monkeys Jumping on the Bed!”  They’re just the cutest and thought they deserved cards of their own.

Layouts On Wednesdays

WEDNESDAY LAYOUTS

It's Wednesday, which means it's time to see what a handful of our Layout Designers have created for us this week!

Melissastinson_freeforall_layout

“Determined”, by Melissa Stinson.

I used this layout as a platform for playing with some new techniques! Gesso can help grunge up a background, and Bella's Decorative Tape can be layered in torn strips as a substitute for patterned paper to add just a bit of a worn look. Pulling out art supplies such as paints and inks is a great way to really change the look of a collection from clean to edgy!

Supplies:
Mr. Boy: Cute Cuts; Sophisticates: Sprinkles and Lace McIntosh; High Five Alphabet Stickers: Red; Making the Team: Football, Borders, Just Write Stickers, Alpha+Bits Stickers, Ciao Chip Icons; Flags: Sports, Text Me; Button Market: Neutral Mix; Decorative Tape: Red Dot

NancyDamiano_SunshineHappinessLayout

"Sunshine & Happiness", by Nancy Damiano.

Bright and bold, that's why I love Sunshine & Happiness! By cutting up the border paper and layering colors and graphics, it was easy to create a custom look for this pool page. I wanted to keep this page simple and linear, so I added two big 5x5 photos and kept the embellishments to a minimum. Some chipboard and a few flags right in the center add some layering and draw the eye to the photos.

Supplies:
Sunshine & Happiness: Sunny Side Up, Borders; Flags: Summer, Sunshine & Happiness; Ciao Chip Elements: Borders, Clouds; Buttons: Fruit Punch

Kim Arnold_D&K

"D & K Together", by Kim Arnold.

The bright and happy Sunshine & Happiness collection was perfect for this fun layout about my best friend and me. I love how all of the different ranges of embellishments just work so well across different ranges – there is always an embellishment available that coordinates perfectly. I think one of my favorites at the moment is the Ciao Chip Clouds set.

AllysonMeinholz_FavoriteFriend

"A Hand's Down Favorite Friend", by Allyson Meinholz.

I just adore this photo. It was taken in the beginning of the school year, during Audriana's 1st Kindergarten field trip to an apple orchard, shortly after she had broken her arm. She was holding hands with her best little girlfriend, Rowan. I am usually not a ONE photo layout kinda girl. Mainly because I have so much to scrapbook, trying to keep up with 3 (almost 4) girlie’s albums. But this photo was too sweet and needed to stay as the main focus. I added a few embellishments and searched for just the RIGHT title . . . I knew it needed the word “hand” in it.

On-Going Guest Designers: Stacey Michaud & Charity Hassel

GUEST DESIGNER

Back in September, when we were choosing our new Design Team, we had a group of talented designers that we just couldn't pass up. So we added a special team of On-going Guest Designers, that will joining us here on the blog throughout the year, along with the rest of our Design Team. Today, we are welcoming back Stacey Michaud and Charity Hassel for another round of projects.

StaceyMichaud_headshot

StaceyMichaud_flag

Hi all! My name is Stacey Michaud. I am a teacher during the day and an avid scrapbooker by night! I use the creative process to keep my sanity and record my stories. Paper serves as my muse and I love gaining inspiration from the products around me. I like to call my style clean and linear with a twist. Journaling is a must for me. I have been blessed enough to be published in Scrapbook Trends, Creating Keepsakes and Memory Makers magazine as well as several idea books!

Smichaud_sunshine_layout

“Sweetness & Sunshine”, by Stacey Michaud.

I love the soft pinks in the Baby Girl collection and knew they would work perfectly for a layout about my daughter. I love mixing fonts to create titles and Bella gives that option each time with all the stickers and chipboard varieties. I created the sun using the Designer Tape. It was easy to cut along the chevron and make the pointed rays. I layered the middle of the sun with a handcut circle from the Pretty in Pink paper, a miniature sticker, flag and crochet flower.

Baby Girl: Borders, Pretty in Pink, It’s a Girl Papers, Alpha+Bits Stickers, Miniatures Stickers, Flags; Sunshine and Happiness:  Happy Clouds Paper, Miniatures Stickers; Spring Flings and Easter Things Alpha+Bits Stickers; Button Market:  Pink Flowers; Designer Tape:  Yellow Chevron; Crochet Flowers: Dahlia

Stmichaud_toughboys_layout

“Tough & Lovable Boys”, by Stacey Michaud.

I love to combine all the Bella collections together. It is so much fun to gather all stickers, papers and embellishments that fit my ideas. I am very into long titles lately and I created this one using different alphabet stickers as well as a chipboard word. To make the layout mine, I added repeating circles. I used a combination of colors and sizes mainly along the bottom to balance the photos and title. Overall, the design is simple with lots of white space, but is fun and funky too.

Charity_Headshot

Charity_flag

Hi everyone! My name is Charity. I am 36 years old, married to Brian for 8 years. I am the stay at home mommy of Alexander (7) and Audrey (5). I am also an RN, and work one shift a week at a local hospital. I love paper crafting and creating. It's been so fun to work on design teams, teach at my local scrapbook store and sharing this hobby with friends. I love old musicals, chocolate covered popcorn and spending time with family.

Charity_muddy cousins

“Muddy Cousins”, by Charity Hassel.

My brother and his family live on the other side of the world from us, so, when the cousins were together they made the most of every moment. This particular day they decided to dig in Meme's yard and make mud pies! I wanted to add interest to my title by adding a flower button to the center of one of the letters.  I love how the baby boy patterned papers can be used for everyday layouts as well as baby things.

Charity_just because card

“Just Because” card, by Charity Hassel.

I love these little crocheted flowers. I wanted to make them pop more on the yellow background. So, I used a circle punch to cut some patterned paper then I layered the flowers over the top of the circles.  The little tag and flag stickers from Bella Blvd. make adorable "leaves" for a flower.

Supplies:
Baby Boy: Heaven Sent, Borders, Baby Blue; Spring Flings & Easter Things: A Tisket A Tasket; Crochet Flowers: Juniper; Designer Tape: Pickle Juice

Charity_looped baby boy card

“Baby Boy” card, by Charity Hassel.

Make large loops from the gingham Designer Tape and place on your card for an extra fun touch!  I used pop dots to add the center baby boy panel to the card, making it easier to slide the ends of my looped Designer Tape beneath. Next, I made scallops by using a circle punch then cutting circles in half. These were layered under the looped tape. I love the sweet little star button, so, I had to put that in the center of the baby boy greeting!

Supplies:
Baby Boy: Wild About You, On The Go, Cute Cuts; Designer Tape: Teal Stripe, Blue Gingham: Button Market: Stars

Charity_elephant for little man box

Elephant Gift Box, by Charity Hassel.

I love the sweet elephant from this line. I knew he would be so cute holding a little flag on the front of a gift box! Cut the green dotted journaling spot and create your own tag to layer with the "little man" sticker tag. Use scissors and cut thin strips of Designer Tape to use as grass on the bottom of gift box front.

Saturday Sketches On Friday

SATURDAY SKETCHES

Twice a month, we'll be bringing you a new sketch, and showing you a few takes on the sketch by our designers. Today, we have our second sketch for May, courtesy of Becky Fleck. We are thrilled that Becky has agreed to design exclusive sketches, just for Bella!

Bella_blvd_12x12_sketch6

Melissastinson_sketchlayout_layout

“Instagram Garden”, by Melissa Stinson.

I love that Becky's awesome sketch uses square photos since I have a lot of Instagram photos on my phone that I've been wanting to scrapbook! For this layout I really mixed up the Bella Blvd collections- some older and lots of new- to pull together the color palette that I wanted.

MeganKlauer_TwinSisters

“Twin Sisters”, by Megan Klauer.

The sketch was a fun starting point for my layout, although I used it pretty loosely. Instead of the squares I punched circles from the Pretty in Pink - Baby Girl paper. The new Baby Girl line mixed perfectly with the Family Dynamix collection for a fun girly layout about my twin nieces.

Baby Girl: Baby Cakes, Daddy's Girl, Pretty in Pink, Snuggly Safari; Family Dynamix: Just Write Journaling Stickers, Icons Chipboard, Alpha+Bits Stickers; Button Market: Text; Flags: Girl; High Five Alphabets: Black-White; Crochet Flowers: Poppy

LoredanaBucaria_Smile

“Smile”, by Loredana Bucaria.

Hi everyone! This sketch is really lovely! I adore this page and it's perfect for the 8.5 x 11” page size as well. I think that sketches really help to create, to be not confuse about where and what you want to use. They help me so much. This is a page dedicated to one of my friends and about how much we laugh and smile together. I love the white background in this layout, because it allows to play with many different colors.

Supplies:
Flags: Bugs, Text Me; Estate Sale: Nana's Apron, Coin Purse, Bella Blurbs, Hat Box, Linens, Bits a Bella; High Five Alphabet Stickers: Pink-Red; Crochet Flowers: Dahlia

WendyWagner_TweetHeart

"Tweet Heart", by Wendy Wagner.

I love getting a sketch layout project! I have no problem sticking to the sketch completely. This time, I decided to play around a bit, and I think adding some pictures to the bottom squares gave it a fun twist! I inked the edges of everything and used some stickles and pop dots. For me, this layout is rather simple. I didn't bling it up nearly as much as I usually do!!  But I think it is perfect with all the patterns going on! My little lady from 2008.....she loved her birdie shirt!  Thanks for looking!

Cards On Thursdays

CARDS ON THURSDAYS

We have lots of new cards to share with you today, as our Card Designers created some fun "Free For All" cards using a wide range of different collections!

KathyMartin_Summer_Card

“Summer” card, by Kathy Martin.

I love the bright happy colors of the Bella Blvd collections! And sometimes I like more neutral tones. You can still use lots of color and achieve a more toned down look by mixing vibrant colors with Kraft card stock. I think it’s the best of both worlds, don’t you?

KathyMartin_Summer_Card2

Supplies:
Sunshine & Happiness: Petal Power, Chipboard Icons, Alpha+Bits Stickers

KathyMartin_HeartYou_Card

“Heart You” card, by Kathy Martin.

Oh how I’ve been enjoying the Bella Blvd Designer Tape! There’s a lot of decorative tapes on the market, but none as colorful and these! And there are so many uses for tape! Sometimes I like using just a little to accent a project and sometimes I go a little crazy as I did with this card. Here I’ve cute a heart shaped ‘window’ for and used Designer Tape as a pattern underneath. I also added a little more to embellish the top and bottom.

KathyMartin_HeartYou_Card2

Supplies:
Designer Tape:  Teal Stripe, Pink Stripe, Pink Flowers, Yellow Chevron, Pickle Juice Dot; Button Market: Neutrals Mix; High Five Alphabets:  Pink-Red

Alice-Carman-Smile

“Smile” card, by Alice Carman.

I thought I’d play with Bella Blvd’s stickers today and make something different. You can mix and match almost any sticker set, and create something totally different than what the sticker set was meant for. Makes for a quick and cute card!

Alice-Carman-Smile-detail

Supplies:
Finally Fall: Journaling Stickers, Ciao Chip; Too Cute to Spook: Alpha + Bits; High Five Alphabets: Blue; Baby Blooms a Bella: Azzini

Alice-Carman-Team-Edward

“Team Edward” card, by Alice Carman.

I know it’s way too early for Halloween, but it will be here sooner than you know. Plus I have so much to look forward to, like the next Twilight Movie! Apologies in advance if you’re a Team Jacob fan, but you got to love Edward … he’s so dreamy!

Supplies:
Too Cute to Spook: Full Moon; Making the Team: Journaling Stickers; High Five Alphabets: Black-White, Green; Ciao Chip: Finally Fall

DeannaMisner_Thanks_Junecard

"Thanks" card, by Deanna Misner.

For this card I decided to have a self-imposed no patterned paper challenge. NOT because I don't love Bella Blvd paper, but because I felt like it would get me out of the card rut I've been in. SO, instead of patterned paper I used Designer Tape. It was super easy to do, and I really like the way it turned out. Then I embellished it with all kinds of goodies and added a simple sentiment to keep with the straight-line design.

Supplies:
Sophisticates: Miniature Card Sentiments Stickers; Designer Tape: Pickle Juice Dot, Yellow Chevron, Teal Stripe, and Blue Gingham; Crocheted Flowers: Juniper; Button Market: Wood Mix, Bursts, Masculine Mix

DeannaMisner_Smile_Junecard

"Smile" card, by Deanna Misner.

For this card I decided to simply play. I took a different approach and instead of starting with paper first, I chose to start with the chipboard flower. From there I layered it with a crocheted flower, played with some Designer Tape to make leaves. Only after I'd done this did I start to design my card. I also played with mists. I'd never misted a card before, and it was something new for me to do. Sometimes it's just fun to mix it up, whether it's your design approach or with new products.

Morgan_SendingYouSunshine_card

"Sending You Sunshine" card, by Morgan Bandkowski.

Here in Wisconsin we are finally getting the feeling of summer. With our hot spurt, I was inspired to make a summery card to send to a friend! I love the bright colors...perfect to cheer someone up!

Supplies:
Sunny Happy Skies: Magic in the Sky, Borders N' Blocks, Creamsicle Clouds; Sunshine & Happiness: Alpha+Bits Stickers

Morgan_ThanksCard

"Thanks" card, by Morgan Bandkowski.

I love using my scraps to create cards! I used a simple circle punch with the sprinkles side of the sprinkles and lace paper. I inked each circle and popped them up to give the card some dimension. I like this card because you can easily switch the sentiment. It works for any occasion!

Layouts On Wednesdays

WEDNESDAY LAYOUTS

It's Wednesday, which means we have another round of "Free For All" layouts from our Layout Designers!

BrookStewart_LoveNotes1_Layout

“Love Notes”, by Brook Stewart.

I find little notes all over the house from my oldest and it just makes me happy! They always seem to come at the right times ... the times I need them most! I made sure to take a picture of the latest one because I wanted to make sure to get it down on a scrapbook page! For this layout I went with a mish mash of colors and used up a lot of scraps. I love the way it turned out!

Beckywilliams_ilovesummer

"I Love Summer", by Becky Williams.

Summer vacation is such a fun time filled with lots of exciting things to do, new things to try and places to see and so many great memories. I love that summer is bright and colorful and wanted that to come across in this layout with pictures of my oldest daughter at swim lessons last year. I cut the title and large cloud from the Cute Cuts paper. Those accents add just the right touch to any project!

SueMylde_Dad

"Dad", by Sue Mylde.

Father's Day is just around the corner and with the lovely photos I've been taking of my son and his dad, I wanted to make a layout that captured their recent lunch meeting at the park, sharing a sandwich. It's a simple little thing but the sentiment has been something that has been on my mind for a long time. I love that the Bella Blvd collection (from Mr. Boy - Winter 2011) actually has this sentiment as a die-cut sticker! How awesome! I've been playing with mists and Designer Tapes this week too - adding a bit of whimsy and texture to my page. Hope you like it!

VivianMasket_Artist_Layout

“Artist”, by Vivian Masket.

I am in love with the vibrant tone-on-tone prints from the Sunshine & Happiness line and used them here as the paint colors. The whimsical red letters from the Christmas Wishes Chipboard Icons set were perfect for my title, even though they are intended to spell "Christmas" (I had two sets, that's where I got the extra "T" from). Sometimes it's fun to think outside the box with letters like that!  I dotted the "I" with a purple chipboard heart from the same set, using it to complete the rainbow of colors from the palette. Both the palette and the Eiffel Tower were cut using my Silhouette. I cut the Eiffel Tower from my layout's white cardstock background and cut the palette from black cardstock. I used the positive shape for the palette, backing the "paint cup" holes with the Sunshine & Happiness patterned papers and then adhering the completed palette on top of the white cardstock. I used the negative shape for the Eiffel Tower, adhering the white cardstock over a piece of black cardstock with pop dots. A couple of fun stickers and buttons complete the layout.

Product Spotlight: Designer Tapes

PRODUCT SPOTLIGHT

It's time for another Product Spotlight feature, and this month, we are putting the focus on Bella's Designer Tapes!

DESIGNER TAPES1s_blog

Washi tapes have been a huge trend in scrapbooking lately, and we were excited to release our first batch of Designer Tapes at Winter CHA this past January. These pretty little rolls of tape come in fun, bright colors and patterns, that go with all of Bella's collections. There are so many uses for tape on layouts, cards, and even altered projects. I challenged some of our Design Team members to use our Designer Tapes in new and creative ways.

KimArnold_so much LOVE

"So Much Love", by Kim Arnold.

I love how I was able to create such a bright and happy layout without using a single piece of patterned paper – the designer tapes provided all of the color I needed. I have used the tapes in two ways. First, I used it to create a frame around the layout. Second, I cut heart shapes from cardstock and then covered them with strips of different colored tapes. I then mounted them onto the layout using foam tape. To add a little more interest, I added a cluster of super-cute Bella Blvd embellishments to the largest heart.

“Crazy Day”, by Julie Johnson.

Designer tape can be so much fun on a layout. For this layout I cut pieces of the designer tape and folded back each edge of the tape to form a triangle. I then layered the triangles on top of each other. At the bottom of the page I gathered up the designer tape and for the top of the page I made border strips with the folded back corners.

I wanted to make a cheerful card to send to a friend and because the Designer Tapes come in such fun colors, they were just what I needed! I used the tapes to create a colorful "rainbow" background for this card. Then I just added a chipboard flower (embellished with a button center) and a simple sentiment to complete the card!

Today’s challenge was to find another creative way to use Designer tape. I thought I would use the tapes as a background and as a frame. It makes it easy to create something in a jiffy.

June Guest Designer: Nichol Magouirk

GUEST DESIGNER

We are excited to introduce you to our June Guest Designer, Nichol Magouirk! Nichol has an amazing scrapbooking style, that is perfectly fitted to Bella's fun and colorful products.

Nicholmagouirk_bellaheadshot

Hello paper crafting friends! It’s Nichol Magouirk here and I am excited to be the Bella Blvd. Guest Designer this month! I have been scrapbooking and paper crafting for about 13 years now. I am passionate about including stamping on my scrapbook layouts, my Silhouette Cameo die-cutting machine and patterned paper. You can find me contributing to the monthly Technique Tuesday Studio AE Design Team Blog Hop featuring Ali Edwards’ monthly stamp sets, sharing new die cutting ideas featuring Kerri Bradford’s digital die cut designs, and teaching stamping and scrapbooking classes at online events. I am currently addicted to sewing and have a million ideas for things I want to sew soon (P.S. Have you seen the Bella Blvd fabrics by Riley Blake?!!!! I have some that need to be stitched up SOON!). When I am not in my craft room scrapbooking, stamping or sewing I love to read on my Nook. I always have a new book that I’m reading and I love that I can just download a bunch of books and don’t have to physically carry them all around!

Bella Blvd is one of my favorite go-to paper lines when I’m scrapbooking. The fun, bright, graphic colors speak to this color-loving girl’s heart!

“Sun Kissed”, by Nichol Magouirk.

This layout was inspired by all the sewing and quilting I have been doing lately. This is actually a re-do of a really old layout and I had cropped one of the photos into a 3.5” circle on the original. I needed to find a way to incorporate this photo without having to go have it reprinted (these photos are pre-digital!). I decided to create my own “quilt blocks” using square photos mixed with square patterned paper with circle photos in the center. Four triangle photo corner stickers worked perfectly to complete my “quilt” design. I finished the page with lots of stickers and embellishments and printed my journaling directly on the notebook paper sticker.

“Whatever Makes You Happy”, by Nichol Magouirk.

I love the soft, traditional baby colors in Bella Blvd’s new baby collections. I wanted to scrapbook these photos from when my daughter was a baby and I loved the idea of a monochromatic layout featuring soft pinks with a touch of white. I layered patterned paper strips and border stickers that all featured shades of pink. I die cut the title from similar papers and from gray cardstock. I slightly off-set the patterned paper so that the cardstock created a “shadow” of the title. This helps emphasize the words and makes them easier to read. I printed the journaling on the quote bubble sticker but I had a slight mishap with my printer! Ugh! So.... I had to order another sheet of stickers so that I can re-do this element. Ignore the funny printed journaling that isn’t centered. Ha! I decided I needed an embellishment to finish the design and opted to cut an elephant from one of the patterned papers, pop it up with foam adhesive and add some banners so that it looks like the elephant is holding them in his trunk!

“Father’s Day” card, by Nichol Magouirk.

Father’s Day is right around the corner and what better way to use up patterned paper scraps than by creating a simple card! I trimmed up several strips from the Bella Blvd. Man of the House collection and notched one end to create a banner background. The Father’s Day cut out and stickers were the perfect embellishment for this Father’s Day card for a Grandpa!

I had so much fun creating these projects to share with you today! Thanks for joining me  and have a great week!

Fridays With Stephanie

FRIDAY WITH STEPHANIE

Hey everyone! It's Laura here, taking over Stephanie's Friday post. Things are starting to get really busy at the Bella offices, with Summer CHA fast approaching. With all of the designing and planning going on, Stephanie just hasn't had much time to put into her Friday posts lately. This is where YOU come in!

This is your chance to ask Stephanie any questions that you're dying to know the answers too. Or if there's any fun topics that you would love to see her blog about, feel free to put those ideas out there as well. I know Q&A's always make it easy for me to blog, so I'm sure it will get Stephanie doing a bit more blogging on those weeks when things get too crazy to stop and come up with ideas on her own.

Let us know what you want to read about, and then keep your eye's out for future Fridays With Stephanie posts ... you just might see your question answered!
