Getting "Fresh" with Cat's Creations Scrapbooks!

Today we are thrilled to feature one of our retailers, Cat Beaty from Cat's Creations Scrapbooks in Mineral Wells, TX. We just love the mini album class she has created using our  new "Fresh" collection!

Cat's "Fresh" Mini Album
Here's a little bit about Cat's Creations Scrapbooks from Cat herself!

Our store is 3200 square feet of bright colors and FUN! FUN! FUN!.  We carry all the latest and greatest in product to keep the ladies happy.  We carry full collections of the lines, not pieces and parts.  We offer a wide variety of collections & vendors, a ribbon wall to die for, lotsa bling and we will try most anything on our pages, albums and craft projects. We offer classes, Kids Kamp, crops (we have colored tables and each cropper gets their own table), retreats, and have even done a few cruises.

We pride ourselves on our custom albums, like this one, using a combination of our Accucut dies and my husband's ability to cut album covers from wood for us.  These turn into beautiful show pieces for your coffee table.  We encourage our ladies to think out of the box and add their own personality & creativity to our classes. It is so much fun to see how different they all turn out. We try to teach several new techniques with each custom album class.

I love to create and I love to teach others how to turn their creativity loose.  This is such a wonderful hobby that is shared by so many.  I have seen it bring so many family members together in a special bond in the past 8 years.  That is what makes owning the store the best--my wonderful customers!

If you are in the area and interested in taking Cat's "Fresh" album class, make sure you check out her class schedule http://www.catscreationsscrapbooks.com/Classesandcrops.html

Stop by Cat's Facebook Page and let her know we sent you by to say hello! https://www.facebook.com/CatsCreationsScrapbooks

Earth Friendly Friday

We are starting a new segment here on the Authentique blog. Friday's will now become a little more "Earth Friendly!" Our Design Team is very creative, they always find ways to recycle and make the most beautiful creations. We thought that by sharing our ideas, tips, & tricks here on the blog, maybe one by one we could all become a little more earth friendly with our crafting projects.

Today, Loes shares a beautiful project that anyone can make with a few little items that we all have laying around the house!

**********

I love the new Friday blog series over here, earth friendly! As scrappers, we have so much material to scrap with and we forget there's so much other stuff around us were we can make beautiful things.

Today, I challenged myself to make some ting with a toilet paper roll and some empty packaging.

Here is what I recycled for my project.

I made a cute little map with a little tag inside.

I crushed the toilet paper roll and wrapped it in with paper from the "Carefree" collection. To close one side, I used the detail stickers from the collection.

For the flower, I did that with the empty packaging!

I made a little tutorial for you so you can make this flower also!

First you have to punch some flowers two big and two small
from the paper and of the packaging

Second, put some glossy accents on the packaging flowers and stick them to the paper flowers.

Third, let it dry for a moment, after that put the heatgun on the flower. The plastic packaging after this is a little bit soft so you can bend the flower into shape. Do the same for the smaller flower.

Last, put the flowers together. I put a big brad in the inside to make a center.

I hope a give you a little bit of inspiration and hope to see a lot of "earth friendly" flowers after this!

Also, check out our board on Pinterest!

Angie Blom

Hello, my name is Angie Blom and I am a stay at home mom of two growing kids, one seventeen boy Alex and one 6 year old girl Sydney, I have been married for close to 25 years and love every minute of it. My husband is the sweetest man and supports me in all the crafty things I do. I have been scrapbooking for 15 years and counting, cardmaking for 4 years and a mixed media artist for the last year. I love to dabble in any type of art, from paper to photography. I also design stamps for Unity Stamp Company, the same company that Authentique has to make their wonderful stamps as well. I just love this company for the quality of papers and embellishments and look forward to making some beautiful project to share with you all. I love to sing, dance and act crazy.. drives my kids nuts.. I love to document my everyday life, because I know my memory will go and I will need to have some proof of my existence.. so this line of work is good for my soul. I want to leave let my kids know that you can achieve anything, anytime in you life.. I feel like my life is starting to become the dreams I have dreamt. It is never too late to reinvent your future. I am looking forward to working and getting to know the Authentique family and the creative followers.  Have a wonderful day everyone!! http://angieblomdesigns.blogspot.com/

Guiseppa Gubler

Usually, when I throw out my name Guiseppa, most people never forget who I am. I think having a unique name has been fun and really helpful in many aspects of my life, including scrapbooking...like I said, most people never forget the name. Some people also call me Seppa (its' just a little easier). Anyway...I answer to both. My name is originally Italian, but comes form a Danish grandmother. I have been scrapbooking for about 15 years now. I jumped on the scrapbooking band wagon when it was so new, so I have seen a lot of changes in the industry. I spend a lot of time scrapbooking (one of the benefits of having children in school all day). I have now created over 70 albums since I began. I have designed for several manufacturers, kit clubs and have some publications in Creating Keepsakes Magazine, Scrapbook Trends Magazines, Scrapbooks Etc. Magazine as well as several idea books. I have been married to my number one supporter Sam for nearly15 years now and we have 3 children; Braden  age 15, Janica 13, and our little Angel Sterling passed away seven years ago from "The Bubble Boy Disease."  Never has scrapbooking meant so much to me as when he passed away. I have all of those wonderful memories of him preserved through scrapbooking. When I am not scrapbooking you will find me outdoors; camping, fishing, hiking and riding 4 wheelers. I love time with my family and in the summertime we often escape to the great outdoors. I am really excited to join the Authentique Design Team and to work with quality crafting products. I can't wait to share my ideas and love for crafting with others. http://guiseppagubler.blogspot.com/

Shellye McDaniel

I am a wife of 21 years, a mom of three and work part-time as a Labor & Delivery Nurse. I live in a small Northeast Texas town where folks still ride their horses into town!  I have been scrapbooking for about 15 years and have recently added cardmaking and other papercrafting projects to my list of love-to-do's.  When I'm not puttering with paper and glue, I also enjoy reading, baking, perusing the internet, antiquing, riding the "back roads" in my husband's vintage Bronco and spending time with family and friends.  I'm very excited to be sharing my love of paper, vintage and whimsy at Authentique! http://paperedcottage.blogspot.com/

Stay tuned for unique projects and creations, we have some really fun blog hops, special events and all around goodness to share! Don't forget to stop by our Facebook, Pinterest and Flickr pages/galleries for tons of inspiration and ideas!

"Fresh"....this way to the beach!

The Beatles said, “All you need is love...” we just added “and the beach!” Our Fresh collection is reminiscent of the olden days of summer, celebrates sandy toes and invites ocean-blue water. As the sun warms the soul and refreshes the mind, so also, this line is soft and relaxed, creating the exact emotion one hopes for when laying on the beach. Hints of red pop in and out, warming the cool blues and neutral tones.

Six double sided papers are the backbone of the Fresh Collection, and the designs and patterns are brought to life even more because we printed this line on our signature, heavy-weight, textured cardstock.

"Free" 12x12 paper

"Clean" 12x12 paper

"Light" 12x12 paper

"Clear" 12x12 paper

"Pure" 12x12 paper

"Crisp" 12x12 paper

As always, our sticker accent sheets are printed on a custom-made matte-stock sticker, which allows for better coordination with our rich textured paper. With expressions like “beach babies” and “ladies must wear bloomers...” Fresh is family-friendly and suitable for all ages. {Be sure to click on the image of the 12x12 "Details" to get a closer look at the nostalgic icons and phrases!}

12x12 "Details" {cardstock stickers}

12x8 "Elements" {Diction mini-words & Petite Type alpha stickers}

We also offer a 6x6, reduced design "Bundle" with coordinating solid colors printed on the back of the papers. A collection kit, which includes TWO of each paper, the 12x12 and 12x8 sticker sheets rounds off this versatile and calming collection.

Stop by your LSS or favorite online retailer to purchase "Fresh" - it is hitting the shelves right now!

Also, visit our website to view our other new collections...or click over to our Facebook or Pinterest page to view projects created by our fabulously talented Design Team.

Quilting Authentique Style!

I am always so inspired by quilts.  From the fabric patterns and  color combinations, to the amazing designs made into the quilts.  I love them all.  But fabric is not my thing, paper is... so I decided to combine the two.

For my project today I made a paper quilt block into a Patriotic wall hanging.  I am planning on adding this, plus a few other goodies to a shelf in my kitchen this summer.  I am in love with the "Glory" Collection, the vintage look of the red, white and blue is so my style!  This collection is easy to work with and
the Cardstock Stickers are the perfect finishing touch.

Now onto my project!
I used 2X2 inch squares, so the center panel is 8 X 8.  I then matted it with cardstock and more patterned papers.  The finished size is 12 X 12.

Here's a closer look at the panel

I hope you have a wonderful day and thank so much for stopping by the Authentique blog today!

Altered Photo Box

Authentique Paper and Core'dinations are teaming up this week to bring you tons of inspiration using Authentique Paper and Core'dinations products!

After you check out the projects here on the Authentique Paper blog, be sure to head on over to the Core'dinations blog to find out what the talented members of the Core'dinations Design Team have in store for you today!

**********

I knew the first time that I saw the Core'dinations paper I wanted to create flowers. When I put the colors next to similar shades of Carefree my idea came through. I have been looking at this untreated photo box for a week now. My little girl found it while rummaging through my craft area, and it has stayed out of the drawer that it was hidden in ever since.
To create this project I measured and cut all of the straight edges to fit each of the sides and lid sections, then used spray glue to adhere each of the sides and pieces for the lid. One suggestion I do have, measure up to the lid, rather than try to shove the lid over the photo box and the paper. This way, I didn't have to worry about the thick papers causing any structural problems later on.

In addition to the lovely Carefree papers, I used the Core'dinations Slate color to offset the tangerine tones of the Details stickers. A little sanding here and there, and the distressing was perfect.
The flower was cut from a fantastic 3D Peony shape using my Silhouette. The center is from the same SVG cut, only using the Kraft-Core in #22. I sanded all of the pieces down before I strung them all on a piece of wire. Sanding each of the sections made the flower look more realistic.

Speaking of sanding, the neat Sand It Gadget that works with the Core'dinations paper was really fun to use. I used it throughout the entire project, even on the Authentique papers!
Overall, I really enjoyed creating this. I loved how the fantastic Authentique papers worked seamlessly with the Core'dinations paper. I also loved how the flower turned out. I might even be keeping this project for myself!

A Study in Red

Authentique Paper and Core'dinations are teaming up this week to bring you tons of inspiration using Authentique Paper and Core'dinations products!

After you check out the projects here on the Authentique Paper blog, be sure to head on over to the Core'dinations blog to find out what the talented members of the Core'dinations Design Team have in store for you today!

**********

I love the color red. Now some people see red as a powerful, active or angry color. But I see red as warmth, love, and earth. When I received the stash of paper from Core'dinations and saw the rich and varied reds, I knew it was time to create something special with my favorite color.

My study in red is built with roses created with Kraft-Core and ColorCore cardstocks, as well as Carefree and Glory from Authentique. Each rose is torn from squares of paper, twirled, then inked or Stickled. Look closely and you'll see some of the roses have embossed petals. The Core'dinations paper holds up to embossing and sanding, so I got some nice color variations.

I loved how the deep red in Glory and the orange-red in Carefree work so well together, and along with the cardstock offer a beautiful variety.

Be sure to check back every day this week for more project inspiration! We have an Authentique Prize Pack to give away to one of our lucky commenters! A Book of Authentique Quotes

**********

For this project I made a mini album for myself. The paper is so nice and thick you can make easily make your own mini and it will not tear up! That is one of the things that I loved about Authentique Paper when I first saw it!

I know I've said it before, but I love quotes! I thought it would be fun to make something involving the quotes that Authentique uses in their paper collections.

I tried to pick a collection to use for this project, but I decided that I couldn't just choose one. So I decided to use all of the papers Authentique has produced so far!

For the cover of the mini album I used three collections: Uncommon, Gathering, and Carefree. It is so much fun to mix these papers! A great way to think out of the box!

And for the inside I used every collection with a quote that belongs with the paper collection. I made my mini a little bit thick so it can grow! For the binding I simply used some rings, so it is easy to add pages to it.

It was so much fun to choose the photo's to go with the quotes!

Here's the inside of the mini with all of the collections.
I cut out all of the pages of the mini with the Core'dinations cardstock.

Last, I want you to show how you can make the flowers with the Core'dinations cardstock:
1. Cut a strip of paper 12 inch x 3/4 inchand sand it
2. Cut a thin fringe along the paper strip, but leave a tiny part uncut.
3. Add some glue (Quick dry)on the uncut part of the strip and roll up.
4. Wait untill it's dry and roll the fringe, begin at the outside

For my project today I created a layout using the new Glory Collection ,
which happens to go perfectly with the Core'dinations Kraft Core collection by Tim Holtz. The red No. 3 is a perfect match with the colors in Glory.

When I sanded my stars, the kraft color underneath was a perfect match to the off white of the patterned papers.  To make the stars, I embossed them using a chipboard star and a stylus.  I then lightly sanded the embossed image and TADA!...fabulousness!

Here's a look at my layout:

and a few closer looks

Speaking of "Glory"... Have you seen that it is one of the collections in the running for "Favorite Patriotic Collection 2012" over on the Paper Crafter's Corner? Make sure you stop by and cast your vote!

A Very Carefree Canvas

Authentique Paper and Core'dinations are teaming up this week to bring you tons of inspiration using Authentique Paper and Core'dinations products!
After you check out the projects here on the Authentique Paper blog, be sure to head on over to the Core'dinations blog to find out what the talented members of the Core'dinations Design Team have in store for you today! **********
For today's project, I went completely outside of my element. Well, not really... but I tried something new that I've never done before! I have been holding on to this blank canvas for years. I tend to save alterable things until the perfect project idea comes along. With a little bit of "Carefree" and some of the Core'dinations Adirondack Collection Cardstock to match (Terra Cotta for the roses, Latte for the leaves), the ideas started pouring out of my head and onto this beautiful canvas.
I had a lot of fun making this canvas. I tried a lot of techniques that I usually don't try. One of them being paper tearing. I have a fear of tearing beautiful paper. I also used sponges to dab bits of paint and also lots of Glimmer Mists were involved in the making of this project!
I absolutely love this quote! This one is going to be hanging in my house somewhere for sure!

A few weeks ago I made some of the rolled paper roses and I was asked to share a tutorial on how to make them, so I made sure to incorporate those into my post today!

First, you will need a sheet of 3x3" cardstock or patterned paper.
Next, just draw a little spiral, it doesn't have to be perfect.
Now you need to carefully cut along the line that you drew until you get to the end.
Flip your paper over so your line doesn't show (oops, I didn't do that on this one, but make sure you do!) and start rolling from the outside until you work your way in.
Once your flower is wound tight, just let it go so it will loosen up and take form.
Take a little bit of hot glue and put it on the very bottom layer, then push the rest of your flower onto the glue and hold it for a few seconds.
You can fold some of the edges down or just leave it how it is, but that's how you make a simple little rolled rose! Of coarse, I misted mine with Glimmer Mist to add a little shimmer, but that's completely optional!

Genuine through and through...

I have a weakness for mini albums... especially canvas albums. I love how you can mist them with any color and it is so easy.

For my mini album today, first I sprayed the pages with the perfect pearls blue smoke {this color is so great with the Genuine collection}. Next, I layerd the pages with papers from "Genuine" and added a little tin on the front {originally this was a tin filled with little buttons of Maya Road - I am so happy I kept it 'just in case'}. Authentique is my favorite brand of paper to create mini albums with. The heavy weight of the cardstock and the rich texture of the paper make the album so much more substantial and soft to the touch. Combining the canvas mini and textured papers is like a dream come true!

I have blogged about the harvest here in Holland before, and I'll continue to share my photos and experiences, it is one of my family's favorite time of year, and I love creating projects with photos from the harvest. {Notice the little photo in the tin...}

I love the butterflies on the ledger paper in this collection, so I fussy- cut one out and place it on the side of the tin, which, again, is the album cover. Below are the inside pages...I used all of the Genuine collection papers, as well as the 12x12 Details sticker sheet and 12x8 Elements sticker sheet.

On the page above I made a little flower with twine from Maya Road...

I used the main 'title' sticker from the 12x12 Details sheet which says: "Genuine through and through" - this is one of my favorite sayings and it made for a great page in the album where I didn't want to add a photo.

Below is a close up of a bottle cap tin which I lined with paper and layered with a few of the stickers and alphabets, again from the Details sticker sheet. The possibilities are endless when you pair the beautiful, rich paper products from Authentique Paper with any little findings you may have in your scrapbook stash.

I hope I've inspired you today, and if you haven't had a chance to create with the Genuine (denim-inspired) collection or with any Authentique Paper, for that matter, you are missing out!

Today Design Team member, Natalie Dever, shares a layout she created with our brand new "Carefree" Collection, available in stores now!

Here's Natalie...

I've been scrapping with my new 'Carefree' Collection. Do you love this collection as much as I do?

The orange color (tangerine tango) in this collection is absolutely gorgeous. I LOVE that you can get it in a collection pack (one of each of the 6 double sided textured papers, a 12x12 Details sticker and a 12x8 Elements sticker)...believe me you will want the entire collection!

Here's a look at my layout. I used a combination of the papers from the collection as well as the Petite Tyoe from the 12x8 Elements sticker. I love Authentique's stickers because they are a super heavy-weight uncoated (matte finish) cardstock, which makes the color match and blend with the papers so beautifully. I've also included a few of the embellishment stickers from the 12x12 Details.

...and a close up...

Thank you for stopping by the Authentique blog today. I hope you find time this weekend to celebrate National Scrapbook Day!

A "Glory-ous" Banner

Before I share my little project with you today, we have a winner to announce from May Arts week!

Great projects! Love how bright and springy these are, and the flowers are really beautiful. Love how you used the ribbon for the stems and popped out all those hearts!

Please send an e-mail with your mailing address to contests@authentiquepaper.com with "May Arts Week Prize Winner" in the subject line and we will get that prize pack & 3 spools of May Arts twine out to you!
With the end of April finally here, it's time to get those patriotic hats out and jump into May! Maybe I'm a little early for Memorial Day or Independence Day celebrations, but I couldn't resist creating a project for the star-spangled Holidays! I have been hanging on to "Glory" for a few weeks now trying to decide what to make. I hate to waste my pretty paper on a project that I don't like!
After lots of contemplation, I decided to go with one of my new favorite things to craft... a banner! I tried to make the banner more patriotic and not geared toward any specific holiday so it can be used on several different occasions. The banner itself is just a little canvas album that I took apart and misted then threaded it onto a string of ribbon. Weather you're feeling a little patriotic, or you just love the colors red, white, & blue, make sure you stop by your local scrapbook store and pick up "Glory"! You won't be disappointed, I promise!

AUTHENTIQUE PAPER: Creating Dimensional Embellishments

While chatting away with both the lovely ladies (and gent) from Authentique, and the other lovely ladies from ScrapbookSteals this past Friday, a great question came about according to Authentique products. Are there going to be any dimensional products created by Authentique? Currently, there are no dimensional pieces in any of the lines. However, this does not mean that you cannot make your own dimensional details from any of the products available.

Here are my embellishment go to products. At least for today. You should be able to easily change out what you like as far as embellishments go. Today's pick: diecut machine, spray adhesive, Glossy Accents, buttons, bling, heavy duty cardstock or kraft paper, Glue Dots and of course foam pop dots.
Start by cutting both the kraft/cardstock and your patterned paper. Multiple pieces in the same and varied sizes works perfectly. I decided to play with Glory for this project.

For sturdier pieces, spray the back of the patterned paper and kraft pieces...

Sandwich the same sized pieces of patterned paper with the kraft/cardstock. You've just thickened up and made your pieces sturdier!

To make these dimensional now, just add pop dots and stack on top of one another.

If you want to use the cardstock stickers, but don't want them sticky, or just need them sturdier... Stick them on the kraft/cardstock and cut them out. It's a little time consuming, but worth it.

Glossy Accents can add more dimension or shine to certain pieces. They also are great for sticking bling on. Use a pin to pop any air bubbles.

Here are four completed dimensional accents. Offset, add buttons, bling, etc. and make these really your own.

See all the dimension!!

I decided to use my favorite on a cute card for Memorial Day.
I just love how it adds just that extra touch.
I hope this helps with creating your own dimensional accents. Remember, there are no real 'rules'. Make what you like, and create something wonderful!

Authentique Products Used: Glory Papers: Pride, Freedom, Liberty, Elements & Details

By The Sea

Are you ready to see a very "earth friendly" project? Today I'm bringing you something old, something new, and a little something blue!

Poor sad cigar box. This was a left-over from my local scrapbook store. They didn't want it anymore and I knew I would be able to do something with it. Three years later, I finally am! I used our Glory collection for this project, it just screams summer!

I wanted to celebrate summer early, so I created a shadowbox. After cutting a window in the box's cover, I lined the inside and covered the outside.

I fancy-cut my waves, pennants, lighthouse and friendly shark fin, as well as a beautiful mermaid and pieced them together. Some distress ink around the edges adds a little accent and sets the paper layers off nicely

Finishing touches are made from lots of sea shells in different sizes, twine, crepe ribbon, and some die-cut spirals cut from an old cardboard box.

For the feet I wanted something really unique and beachy, so I went with smooth rocks
- not from the beach, but don't tell.

An old cigar box, rocks, shells, and some shipping cardboard combined with one of our newest collections, all into a brand new fabulous something. I hope you are inspired to upcycle something today!
