Time To Get Fresh!

Authentique Paper and Want2Scrap are teaming up this week to bring you tons of inspiration using Authentique Paper and Want2Scrap products!

Can I just say that I LOVE Want2Scrap! Their products can easily be added to ANY project to jazz it up a bit! Not to mention, they are very affordable! We have had a great week with them so far, I hope you all are enjoying the inspirational projects!

Today, I wanted to alter something. I am so in love with the Fresh collection. I am very partial to the beach and anything beachy, so Fresh is right up my alley! I wanted to make something to hang in my home (which is decorated with lots of beach decor), so I got out this little wall clock out of my drawer full of alterables.

The clock came with a few pieces of MDF (which is a thick board kind of material), the top layer had the little holes cut in it so it would act as a dimensional window.

It also came with some chipboard numbers.

For the numbers, I decided to try a product that was new to me. Imagine Crafts has come out with a new Fireworks! Spritz that comes in coordinating colors of the popular Memento inks that we all know & love!  The "Summer Sky" color matches perfectly with our Fresh Collection. Once I spritzed it on the chipboard numbers, the chipboard kind of soaked in most of the color, but left a nice shimmer, not too glittery, which I love! I also distressed the edges of my clock with sandpaper and then went around and distressed with some coordinating Memento ink. Love those little Dew Drops!

The Nestaboards from Want2Scrap are new to me, but I really love them! They come in nesting sizes with coordinating bling that you can add on top. I used one of the smaller Nestaboard labels to add something neat to the center of my clock.

Of coarse I couldn't have finalized this project without adding some pretty pearl flourishes from Want2Scrap! They were the perfect finishing touch!

My favorite summer flowers are dahlias. I love their layers of petals and bright colors. And with July 4th coming, I was inspired to create some special dahlias of my own.

I used papers from Authentique's "Glory" collection to make oversized flowers - I accordian-folded strips of paper, attached them together and formed them into circles. Want2Scrap's "Nestaboards" and matching "Nestabling" came together to create the flowers' centers. I covered the "Nestaboards" with more pieces from "Glory",  sanded the edges and embellished with the bling!

It's already the second day of our week with Want 2 Scrap! I can tell you, I have fallen completely in love with these awesome products! I love the swirls in pearls and rhinestones, and of course the nestaboards! Some of these nestaboards work with spellbinders... how great is that?

The new "Lively" collection goes great with the embellishments from Want2Scrap and the photo the I used.

I decided to play with a photo of my lovely daughter from a few years ago..... taken by A Mundt.

This is a special day for us, today she turned in to sixteen, so we are having a little sweet sixteen party this evening!

Here I used the nestaboard. First, I put it in my embossing folder, after that I played with my distress inks.

The detail stickers, you can use as little tags. You just put the sticker with the tag on it on your card stock and cut it out. After that you put a little twine through it and add it to your flowers

I also made a little card..]
I love the combination of the swirls and a little bit of lace.

With the Lively element stickers, you can make words that are small enough for your cards!

I added a little detail with the nestaboard, and also put it in my embossing folder and played with distress ink.

I made a little rose with the awesome paper line Lively, I cut them out of the paper after that, sprayed them with some water and turned them around a pencil and let them dry. You can also use a heatgun.  Then just glue them together.

 Hopefully I inspired you today!
Don't forget to show us your projects, we love to see them!

I loved creating a completely girly and feminine set of three cards combining both Authentique's new Lively collection and Want2Scrap's fun products.
For the first two cards, I used the Nestaboard Scalloped Hearts to create some interest on the front of the card. Rather than use patterned paper to cover the heart, I used various inks on each of the chipboard hearts. This way, the pearls really shone against the simple backgrounds. Adding a little ink, and turning a Details sticker into a sentiment sets this card off.
With the second card using the same scalloped hearts, I switched up the colors to better match the paper choices of this card. I kept the simple, inked hearts though. This way, the pearls of Nestabling Scalloped Hearts really stood out. I did mirror the bright pink in the Lively collection papers, with the Diction sentiment.
This last card is my favorite though. It's super girly and lovely. I used the Decorative Dress Forms - Chipboard, covering it in Lively paper, then adding a piece of jewelry from the Nestabling Decorative Dress Forms.
Behind the dress form and the sentiment made from the Petite Type from the Lively Details page, is Want2Scrap's Chandelier Silhouette. The neatest thing about this silhouette, is that it is extremely detailed. It's also a great thick black paper, so it really pops against the colors of Lively.

Earth Friendly Friday...in a jar!

Happy Friday morning all...Guiseppa here!  Well...as I was trying to decide what I wanted to create for Earth Friendly Friday, I did what any other smart girl would do and went to Pinterest for a little inspiration.  I saw this cute little bird diorama.  This project was made using a Mason Jar.  Perfect...I reuse my Mason Jars over and over again.  This project was inspired by houseofhumble.com, so go over and see her cute bird diorama!  Sorry about the the glare.  I tried forever to try to get the best picture possible.

I found these cute little birds at Michaels, which matched perfectly with the new Lively Collection.  So, I searched my yard for the perfect branch.  Perfect...another Earth friendly material found in my own backyard!  It took awhile to get it cut just right to fit tight in the jar, but look how cut it sits!

I also made this fun banner using some of the patterned papers from the Lively Collection and the Details stickers and strung it on either side of the branch and tied it.  Supa cute huh?

For the finishing touches, I added some moss grass to the bottom.  I also decorated the top of the jar.  I covered the ring with patterned paper, added some ribbon and baker's twine, tied it off with a cute bow and added a sticker tag from the Details stickers.

For the very top off the jar, I covered the lid with more patterned paper, added another Detail sticker and some rope twine around the ring.

This was so fun and it amazes me how much things we can find around our house to reuse and make into fabulous projects.  This is going on my shelf in my scrapbooking room...well, as soon as the shelf is finished.  That's another project in itself.   Have a wonderful day and thanks for stopping by!

Announcing a very Lively collection & some sister-love!

I have always struggled with what to give as a gift to my siblings, especially as we've grown older and sadly, farther apart - in both distance and in our relationships with each other. My sister, Sally, is 16 months older than me, so many people often thought we were twins. My mother always dressed us alike, did our hair the same, etc., so it was confusing, at times to tell who was Sally and who was Sammy. We love each other at the core because we have gone through so many defining moments in our childhood together, and we have plenty of good memories to look back on.
At any rate, Sally's birthday is at the end of June, and for the first time in a few years, I am actually prepared to send her a thoughtful, handmade gift. It's not flashy or expensive, the idea came straight from my heart. My sister has always been a very "Lively" person - friendly, a cheerleader/drill team member, loved by everyone, friends with many groups, etc...and she did it in her own way.  I choose "Lively" for my project because of the bright colors, the energy and vibrance they elude, and because the theme of the collection is to live your life, enjoy the simple moments, and to celebrate living, every day!

When I sat down in the craft room, I instantly wanted to make my sister a gift she could enjoy more than just on her actual birthday. Since she is turning 32, I decided to alter a simple dollar-store jar to hold 32 little handmade cards and write something I like/love/admire about her. Hopefully she will read them a day at a time, and perhaps on one of the down-days we all have, my little hand-written memory will lift her spirits and make her smile.

For the tag attached to the front of the jar, I used layered 3x4 pieces of patterned paper as a base and then I junked it up with the Petite Type alphabet stickers from the 12x8 "Elements" as well as the little "my favorite" sticker  and the pointing finger sticker from the 12x12 "Details" sheet.

For the top of the jar, I used a technique taught to me by DT member Janeen - creating little rosettes is so easy and they look absolutely adorable adhered to the top of the glass.

Each little card (there are 32 total) has a compliment, a thank you, a memory, or something I admire about my big sister. I used all of the papers from the collection, the texture and weight made them feel so substantial and long-lasting, I know they will withstand the test of time, and I dearly hope she saves this sentiment forever!

Ta da! All finished and ready to be packed up and sent off so she receives her present ON her actual birthday! As an adult, it's hard to figure out what to get/give your friends for gifts or special occasions, and this idea really came full circle with our new "Lively" collection.

Oh...of course, I had to make a matching birthday card, using the 12x8 un-coated stickers, which inked beautifully, may I add...and they added the perfect little touch to off set my not-so-great handwriting! One of my favorite quotes I pulled from the 12x12 sticker "Details" sheet and placed it on the back of the card.

So...we are pleased to introduce you to another new collection from Authentique Paper, "Lively"

12x12 "Details" un-coated adhesive cardstock stickers

12x8 "Elements" un-coated adhesive cardstock stickers

6x6 "Bundle" - 36 sheets, each with a coordinating solid color on the back!

Collection Kit which includes 12 patterned papers, the Details & Elements stickers

As always, click over to our website to view the individual paper images, they are too pretty to miss!

Be sure to leave us a comment here on the blog AND on our Facebook page for a chance to win a "Lively" prize pack before it is even officially released!

Have a great day and remember how easy it is to brighten someone's day with a gift made with love and a splash of pretty paper!

xoxoxo,
Sam

Authentique's Fantastic "Plain" Papers

Some of you may know that I am expecting my second child, a little girl. As a Father's Day present, I decided to create this cute little mini book for my husband. He is not into anything with dimension, has bows, ribbons, buttons, or anything that sticks out. He also isn't a huge fan of pink, but with one little girl and one on the way, he's kind of stuck on that one.
I made this for him to show off pictures of the baby once he gets back to work. He needed something that he could display on his work desk.
I used my Silhouette to create interesting shapes, titles, and other features that could lie flat. Rather than use simple plain cardstock, I chose instead to break out my Free Bird Collection, and the backs of my 6x6" pad of Delightful.
For each of the pages, I chose to use various die cuts from the Baby Girl portion of Delightful.
I also chose the colors of the colored cardstock specifically to set them apart from the patterned paper.
I'm planning on using black & white prints in 4x4" and 3x3" sizes for each of the matted squares. Since the photos won't compete with all the color, it was fun getting to use all of the patterns I could.
I also decided not to add any of the Diction words until I start placing all of the photographs. This way, I can really make the mini book special and specific for each photograph.
Here is my secret weapon for fantastic die cuts... FREE BIRD! Seriously, the "plain" colors are simply divine! Each color really isn't plain, more textured and variegated than regular old cardstock. And since they are all 6x6" papers, each piece is perfect for using with any type of die cut machine, or paper piecing. Each collection of 6x6" pads also has great "plain" paper that are specific to the collection. I also used quite a few pieces of the Delightful pad on this mini album.
To be honest, my favorite of the colored papers is actually the reverse of one of the brightest pieces of Free Bird, FBS119 of the Fair-Weather Theme. It's a super bright white, with little specks of yellow throughout.
Remember to use Authentique's fantastic "plain" papers the next time you break out your die cut machine. There are really great colors that match perfectly with each collection, you just may have to turn the paper to the back.

Just File It Under FRESH!

Friday Greetings, Authentique lovers!
Shellye here with you today to share a fully functional and pretty cool(if I do say so myself) way to store all of those yummy tags that you love to make. In conjunction with our EARTH FRIENDLY FRIDAY, I wanted to re-purpose something from around the house, so I chose a used manila file folder.  By trimming away the top tab, I had a brand new slate to begin with.

I cut three strips of {Fresh} patterned paper, inked around the edges and then machine-stitched
to the folder (leaving the top portion open).  I then embellished with a bit of roping at the top, scalloped borders and cotton trim, adhesive pearls and a pieced plaque hung by a wooden clothespin.
If you love distressing with ink like I do, then you will love how beautiful the effect looks over the texture of Authentique paper.

A row of the adhesive tags from the {Fresh} Details 12x12 Sticker Sheet completes the bottom.

For the inside of my fully-functional-file-folder-holder?  Why, handmade {Fresh} tags of course!
I went online to svgcuts.com and found these really great layered tags.  Tag making has never been easier...or more fun.

Here are samples of the tags that I created for the inside of the folder:

I think that canvas and burlap and jute look great paired up with beachy sorts of projects...so if you have those items in your stash, grab 'em up for this project :)

I machine stitch just.about.everything.  Even sticker letters. Wanting to take the sticky off of those stickers?  Just apply a little baby powder to the back...voila!

Oh and I forgot to mention corrugated clouds...why not?
Wooden buttons?  yes, please!
And isn't the subway-art look of this (above) sticker just the coolest? I could literally make a card using each and every Details Stickers on the sheet...the graphics are that beautiful...even down to the tiniest of seashells.

Grab those nautical stamps and scalloped punches...they're perfect for
tag topping!

And for this final tag: I cut the wonderful sentiment from the bottom sheet
of a {Fresh} patterned paper! I love that you can use every square inch of Authentique product.

This was such a tremendously FUN project for me...I hope that you've
enjoyed it too!

Guest Designer: Jeannie De Gruccio

Today we have a very familiar face joining us as a guest designer! I'm very happy to welcome back for the day, Jeannie De Gruccio!
For those of you who don't know Jeannie, she is the talent behind her blog, The Polka Cabana. She was a first term designer for us and her work can be seen throughout posts here on the Authentique blog as well as on our pinterest boards!

Jeannie's first project is very neat. She made a cute napkin holder using Carefree & a little bit of Genuine. The cool thing about this project is that she altered a thrift store find! We are all very fond of thrift store finds & recycled materials around here!

We love the little table manners that she added to the project!

She also made a sweet little baby girl plaque with Carefree. What a great gift idea!

Big thanks to Jeannie for sharing her beautiful work with us today! Make sure you stop by her blog and say hello!

Bliss, Happy, JOY

Hello everyone, Angie Blom here with my first post for Authentique..
I am so thrilled to be posting something with these amazing papers.
The mailman has been having some fun with my newer lines of papers, so today
I am featuring one of the older paper collections.
Blissful
This paper collection is wonderful to add different dimensions.
You will see in the photo's below how you can add different elements,
Not to change the paper , but to enhance it's beauty.

If you are wondering about the size..
lately I am in love with making these 8.5 x 11 scrapbook pages.
they are easy to fill up and for me, perfect for my instagram photo's.
Also a great addition to my Project Life album .

Using this fun "Prosperity" paper I made this half pleated flower.
I just love the look of the different layers you can achieve .

Here you will see that I took some clear glitter glue and frosted different parts in the flowers. It is an easy way to really dress up your patterned paper, and who doesn't love glitter that won't make a mess
and get everywhere.. Glitter glue is a great solution. It drys flat and no glittery mess.

I also took some of the "noteables" and added Glossy Accents to them. I wanted these to have more of an epoxy feel and add a different layer of surprise.

So go ahead and get out those beautiful collections you might be hoarding..
I know I tend to do this with my favourite papers..
add a little glitter and shine to change it up..
 and remember to have FUN!!
Have a wonderful day,
Hugs
Angie
xoxo

The Tiny Life with Authentique and Epiphany Crafts

Authentique Paper and Epiphany Crafts are teaming up this week to bring you tons of inspiration using Authentique Paper and Epiphany Crafts products!

After you check out the projects here on the Authentique Paper blog, be sure to head on over to the Epiphany Crafts blog to find out what the talented members of their Design Team have in store for you today!

**********

I love that first whiff of sea air, that first call of a sea gull, and that first roar of the ocean when I hit the beach - they all say summer, so to celebrate I've created a special tiny treasure.

I used a pair of Epiphany's oval metal charms to create a locket. On the front casing I used the Shape Studio Oval to cut a bit of Fresh paper and seal it under an oval bubble cap. Then I added tiny pearls and a shell, creating a three-dimensional cameo.

For the inside of the locket, I cut a tiny bit of text paper from the Fresh line, inked the edges, added a little sand paint and "life" from the Fresh miniwords. The phrase "the tiny life" came out accidentally, but it's perfect for this tiny treasure!

The portrait is cut from another piece from Fresh, and is set in an oval bubble cap for added depth. The tiny clam shell is attached with a handmade wire spiral.

**********

Shellye here with a couple of projects combining the beauty of the two companies...what a treat!

First up is a super, super quick and easy project that literally took a few minutes to put together.  Now mind you, the bracelet is one that I all ready had...but it was plain, so what better way to dress it up than
with a cute little bauble!

To create the charm, I used Epiphany Round #14 Circle Punch, Charm and Bubble Cap
and a little "peek" of  an upcoming collection, "LIVELY," with the adorable bird motif.  Using a bit of jewelry wire, I looped the charm together along with a couple of spare mushroom caps and pearl from another old bracelet.  That's it!  Hangs just beautifully and is just the right amount of blingage!

Next is a card of Carefree enjoyment!
I love layering...I don't make a card that's flat, so you will notice that I've layered several different patterns from Carefree onto this card. I've used a scalloped punch, a circle punch and created a little pleating for the ribbon of paper that sits under the focal point.

After hand-cutting one of the Carefree butterflies, I embellished it and the sides with three of the Epiphany Bubble Caps that I applied to bits of patterned paper.  I use my sewing machine on almost everything, but I also added a hand-stitched X and two dashes in black to help establish that visual triangle that I'm so fond of.

For my project today I paired up one of my favorite AP collections, Glory, along with Epiphany Crafts Pennant Shape Tool along with the epoxy stickers.
I have to tell you, this was my first experience with Epiphany tools and  I may be hooked!
They are so easy to use and the extra pizazz the epoxy sticker gives is just plain cool.

Here's a look at what I created
It started as a round paper machae box that I altered.  I was thinking about a cake as I made this but the more I worked, I think it looks like a 4th of July hat :)
it's all fun, and will look cute on my kitchen table for the holiday!

Here you can see how cool the epoxy stickers look on top of the pennant punch!
and how cool are those cardstock stickers! Love them!!!

"Fresh" Refrigerator Magnets

I have some home decor to share today! I'm really excited about this project.... it's odd, yes, but I think it turned out really neat!

Do you see it? If you guessed mouse traps, you're right! Now I can't take full credit for this idea, I saw it on pinterest a while back and I HAD to try it!
Don't worry! The mouse traps were NEW in a package when I started! There was something a little odd about hanging mouse traps on my refrigerator, but when I painted them and jazzed them up with some "Fresh" designs, they look really unique!

I used elements stickers for the little letters at the top. There is one for "Keys," one for "Notes," and one for "Bills." I cut the little paper bows with my Silhouette Cameo and added the perfect dimensional touch to the center, an embellishment made with my Epiphany Crafts shape tool!

This is a fun & quick project to make! All you need are some mouse traps (which I found at my local $ store for cheap), some paint, and some pretty paper and embellishments! Quick & easy way to keep organized too!

A "Fresh" Take on Epiphany Crafts

Authentique Paper and Epiphany Crafts are teaming up this week to bring you tons of inspiration using Authentique Paper and Epiphany Crafts products!

Welcome to the Authentique Paper & Epiphany Crafts Blog Hop! Heather here, and I am excited to share with you the fun things I got to create using the fun Epiphany Crafts Shape Studio Tool Round 25 and Authentique's fun new line, Fresh

For the card, I used the Light paper for the shaped background, Clear for the die-cut wave shape, and Free for the wonderful vintage image. An Epiphany Crafts Round in a Metal Charm with a little bit of Crisp sets off the card perfectly.
For the next project, I continued using the fun Epiphany Crafts Metal Charms and made two necklaces, and a matching bracelet. For these, I used the reverse of Free. I just loved the little wave pattern and the gorgeous color.
I couldn't believe how easy it was to create these. One tip, you may need to get a couple of jumprings to allow for the chain necklace to be attached, unless you use a thinner chain than I did.
My lovely little girl loved her new necklace and bracelet. She is turning three tomorrow, and loves anything that matches. She especially loves when she matches other people, so I made sure that I made myself one as well. Plus, I love super fun and unique jewelry. Here is a sweet picture of her in her lovely birthday dress and new jewelry.

Just Beachy!

Are you enjoying our "Earth Friendly Friday" segment so far? Our design team is so creative & thrifty! I can't believe we didn't think of this sooner!

Today, I wanted to share a little home decor piece that I made. We have a little store here that I like to call the "junk store." It's not really a thrift store, but more like a second-hand store that gets their items from retail stores. Do you ever wonder where retail stores send their damaged items that might still be functional or their out of season items that didn't sell? Well, now you know!

I found this wooden wreath recently at the "junk store." Like they say, "One man's trash is another man's treasure." That couldn't be more true! My husband and I really enjoy shopping for items that we can fix up and make beautiful again.

I'm a beachy kind of gal. I would rather be laying on the beach than doing anything else. I love the smell of the ocean, the sound of the waves, and the whole atmosphere around the ocean. I always love to collect shells and bring them home with me. They usually sit on a little stand that I have until I find something to do with them. Well, I decided that they would be perfect added to this pitiful little wreath!

With a little bit of "Fresh," this wreath like new!  I added the beautiful patterned paper to some chipboard banner shapes from Basically Bare, and then added some twine to tie them on the wreath.

Do you have an old wreath laying around that could use some touch ups? Go grab some seashells, some pretty papers from our "Fresh" collection, and you're ready to decorate your home for summer!
