Delightful Baby Girl Mini Album

When I really got into scrapbooking several years ago, I had a fascination with paper lunch bags. I fell in love with making mini albums out of them. Not only are they a cheap base for an album, but they are fun & quick to make.

A few weeks ago, my friend asked me to make a little mini album for her to give as a baby shower gift. Immediately, I thought of  our "Delightful" collection and the little baby elements that were made to go along with the collection.

My friend told me that the mom (who the shower was being held for) loved butterflies. So I wanted to fill this little album full of pretty butterflies. Plus, they go great with the baby theme!

When I started making these types of albums, I searched the internet for tutorials on how to make one and had a lot of trouble finding helpful hints, so I kind of made up my own little way. I thought that I would share with you all a helpful video on how I make my paper bag albums. Make sure you watch all the way through! I also show little peeks inside of my "Delightful" little album!

Thanks for stopping by today! Remember, if you see something shown on our blog, facebook page, pinterest, etc that you want to know how to make, please let us know! We are always trying to come up with fun tutorials to share with you!

Announcing "Enchanted"

As the collection name "Enchanted" reminds, Halloween is a one-of-a-kind opportunity to feel the enthralling allure of this charming night. The vintage designs and rick distressing highlight the nostalgic memories associated with this thrilling holiday. Subtle icons built into the paper designs combine tradition and elegance. Cards, albums, and projects will instantly transform into sentimental masterpieces with the use of these icons and word-based elements.

Christmas in July!

In case you missed it last week, we announced our much anticipated Christmas Collection, "Festive," which is set to be hitting stores now (and also making it's debut at the CHA Summer Show!)

While we are away at CHA, we wanted to share with you what our amazing design team has been up to for the past couple of months. We are so lucky to have such an amazingly talented team! Though it IS only July, our team took a challenge and ran with it (and did a spectacular job as well!). We hope to get you excited for the months to come! Let your holiday season start a little early this year!

First, we have quite a few projects to share from Loes de Groot...

Christmas isn't as "Festive" without a few handmade ornaments, right?

Loes also made this beautiful banner complete with Christmas tags!

Christmas isn't complete without a layout to document the season!

I only have a few projects... while Loes was over in the Netherlands cranking out amazing projects, I was possibly twiddling my thumbs... or maybe I just wasn't scrapping fast enough!

I wanted to make a flower bouquet similar to one that I had made for CHA-W (you can see it HERE), but I ended up with something a little different.
Instead of a big beautiful bouquet, I made a mini bouquet ornament that I love just as well. These "Festive" flowers will be hanging on my tree for many Christmases to come!

You also might remember the project posted with our "Festive" announcement last week. In case you didn't see, I wanted to make sure it was included in this post.

Here is a 12x12 canvas banner that was made by me (Emily) and I will be teaching a workshop in Chicago during CHA week. Yep, you can come out and make your own "Festive" holiday banner with us!

The workshop is scheduled for Thursday, July 19 from 6:30-9:00 pm. Make sure you stop by the Creative Cuts and Crafts website for more details and to reserve your spot! Seats are limited, so call as soon as possible and secure your seat!

Stop back tomorrow (and all week long) for more Festive projects from our design team!

Don't forget to stop by our Facebook Page and play along with our fun contest going on this week! (More details HERE!)

Carefree Recipe Keeper

Happy Friday, Authentique fans!
Shellye here with another installment of your
EARTH FRIENDLY FRIDAY

I think that it's in our nature to preserve,
restore and recycle.
It pains me to throw away something that could still
serve a purpose.
Case in point:  CD sleeves.
When we first bought our 'dino' computer (you know the ones
with the 2 foot unsightly tower) in 2000, it came with a
huge binder full of kid-related CDs...
Dora the Explorer, Sesame Street Workshops, etc.
Over time, the CDs became scratched beyond repair,
broken or magically disappeared...this left me with a binder full
 of empty plastic sleeves!
So glad that I didn't throw them out...
here's what I did...

CAREFREE THEMED
Pinterest Recipe & Idea Keeper

For the cover I used a 12x12 Page Protector that I trimmed
to a 12"W x 6"H
...here are a few photos stepping it out

After trimming, fold in half (the top will be left open)
and punch two holes at the 'spine'

Using patterned papers of your choice
(I used CAREFREE because I love the picnic look of the papers)
cut one sheet down so that it will fit nicely inside of your page protector
( I cut mine to 5.75"H x 11.75"W)
Score your paper in half and punch holes to match up with the
holes in the page protector.  Once you've established this you will be able
to begin decorating the front of the page!
Slip the completed paper into the Page Protector and machine
stitch the top closed (if desired...not necessary).
Insert two medium sized rings through the holes and add your
CD sleeves to the inside.
For fun...decorate the rings with cute ribbons :)

If you're like me, I'm constantly printing off recipes and ideas that I've
found on Pinterest.  I love that I now have a place to put these until I can
transfer them onto a recipe card.

Add little tabs to the ends of your CD sleeves if desired.

This could easily be adapted into a photo album...perfect brag book for
a new grandmother.  Or give to a bride as a place to keep enclosure cards,
receipts, etc. The possibilities are endless with this one :)

SUPPLIES:
Carefree Jovial, Radiant and Easygoing Patterned Papers
Carefree Details Stickers
Carefree Elements Stickers
Misc: doily sticker, bulletin board edging, pearls and ribbons

Enjoy!

Announcing "Festive!"

Like a child waiting with anticipation for morning on Christmas Eve, so we wait all year, to begin designing our Christmas collection and we release it early enough to be available for several months. The classic red, green, and cream tones, along with the subtle use of black, create a nostalgic feel which further enhance these evocative designs. Authentique’s vintage look and the Christmas season go hand-in-hand. Last year, our very first Christmas line was one of the top-selling paper collections worldwide. We truly believe “Christmas is the loveliest festival of the revolving year” and we are delighted to offer products which capture the spirit of this magical season.

If you are going to be in Chicago next week, make sure you stop by Creative Cuts and CraftsWe are going to be teaching a workshop showing you how to make this very "Festive" canvas wall hanging.

The workshop is scheduled for Thursday, July 19 from 6:30-9:00 pm. Make sure you stop by the Creative Cuts and Crafts website for more details and to reserve your spot!

The best things come in little packages!

Hey...happy Monday morning all!  Guiseppa here to share with you a tutorial on how to make a cute Mini Fold Book.  I found this tutorial on Pinterest and found out how to make it by way of the talented Lisa Johnson's Blog.  So, let's get started!

First off, pick out your paper and make sure it is 8 1/2 x 11.  Score it at 3, 6 and 9 inches.

Next, measure 2 3/4 inches and cut over the score lines.  You will end up with three strips from an 8 1/2 x 11 piece of paper.  If you want your book to have more pages, just add another 8 1/2 x 11 piece of paper and proceed with the above instructions.

Now to adhere your pages together.  Fold all your score lines alternately.  There will be one fold that is shorter than the rest.  The short end will be glued behind a regular end.  Do this with all of your strips.  When you are finished adhering the strips, cut off the short end that is left over.

Now for the cover.  Choose the paper you would like and score a strip of 2 3/4 x 11 inch.  Score it at 3" and then again at 3 1/2 ".

Now fold it at the 3 1/2 " line.  Then score at the 3" and 3 1/2 ".

Next, score the end of the last section in half.  This will be adhered to itself to make a front flap.  This is what it will look like once it is all scored.

Now you will want to adhere your pages in.  Adhere one end of the pages to the left side and then to the right side.  Make sure you don't adhere your pages to the flap of the book.

Finally fold your end flap over and adhere.

To make your book stay closed, I used Velcrow.

Now for the funnest part...embellishing!

So, I also need to give some credit to my cute little twin neighbors.  They were the subjects of this album.  I am so lucky that I get to watch these cuties!  Thanks for stopping by today and go ahead and give this a go!

Earth Friendly Friday!! getting organized

Happy Friday everyone, Angie Blom here today with an
 Earth Friendly Friday Project
if you are anything like me, you love your scrapbooking or art supplies
organized.. I am a strong believer of recycling what you have
in your own home and making it look fabulous for your needs.

There are some amazing food containers out there that I just don't
have the heart to throw out.. So I am going to use them to create
some storage for my Faber Castell art supplies...

Using the beautiful papers from the Lively collection and these
Tazo Chai tea  Metal containers .
I will recycle them to be my new storage organizer for my pitt pens and pencils.

instuctions to make:
you are going to cut for one container.. 1 sheet of patterned paper of your choice. 4x12 and 4x8.
using some strong 450  Quick Dry glue from Helmar , adhere the 4 x 8 piece of cardstock over the
already stuck on label.  Then continuing the pattern of the paper add the 4x12 to cover the rest of the container using the glue. honesty this only took 2 minutes to  adhere.
then using some of the larger stickers from the  Lively sticker collection  decorate the front of your
container, I did this by placing the larger stickers on brown cardstock , using some helmar
zapdots to give it  a pop out feel. and added some of the smaller stickers to layer on top.

then you are done..
I didn't want these to be too fussy.
I wanted them to be easy enough to just grab without
having anything bulky falling off when I need to use them..
Here are some more detailed photo's of my project.

Hope you give this a try Any strong container will do, and you will be left with a beautiful
storage container for your everyday needs. Would also be a fun and simple project for the kids to
do this summer to hold their crayons and all the markers they have laying around..haha.

Also, we have a winner for our Facebook "Glory" button contest from this week! The winner is...

Fan Feature 4th!

Happy Independence Day!

To celebrate the 4th, we decided to hand the spotlight over to some of our "glory"ous fans! We love when you share your projects with us, so today, we are letting these designers say a few words of their own about their projects and why they love our "Glory" collection!

Patricia Roebuck

I had so much fun creating this wreath. The idea started with the Glory collection. With its texture and vintage shades of red and blue, the papers and stickers were exactly what I was looking for to create a fun, whimsical patriotic wreath that depicted Americana and the Declaration of Independence. To compliment the look and feel of the Americana theme, I used silver tulle to make a bow and wrap around the wooden wreath. I brought in some red wire, wrapping it around the base of the wreath and creating stars. Then used silver wire to string the Glory stickers to loop around the wreath and pinwheels. I wrapped washi tape on both sides of the silver wire, then pleated and glued them behind the bow to create a fun look of fireworks.

Make sure you stop by Patricia's Blog post HERE and see the fabulous tutorial she has posted for you to make your own wreath!

I love to create patriotic projects and happened across the Authentique Glory pattern paper while working in Buffalo at the CKC in May, and just had to purchase it. Since then I've purchased additional 12" x 12" papers and another package of 6" x 6"!  I love all the coordinating papers in this pack, but my favorite pieces to create with are the "allegiance" and "liberty papers".  When creating my project using SVG Cuts Stars & Stripes Kit, I used these two patterns because I loved the way to complemented each other to create the perfect centerpieces for the 4th of July Celebration.

I created a floral wreath from the Glory Collection. Since my birthday is Flag Day (June 14th), it is only natural to mention that red, white and blue is one of my favorite color combination! This collection is not only is perfect for projects celebrating our Country’s birthday but for all occasion. This project came together in no time. It is ready for display during the 4th of July gathering to any time of year!

Stop by Margie's blog for a great tutorial on how to make your own flower wreath HERE

I design for a template company (Creations by AR) and our June new release blot hop theme was Stars and Stripes. I knew before I actually saw the template that  I would use Glory! I was attracted to the vintage feel of the papers, the faded and worn colors,  and the designs themselves- especially the collage and stripes! Needless to say,, my wheels were spinning in all kinds of directions with Glory in mind! The tricky part was creeating something to display inside of the box. It started with the pinwheels and ended with the 'sparklers.' It is always satisfying to create a project when the papers do all of the inspiring!

Stop by our Facebook Page today and say hello! We love to see your projects, so please share them with us! You never know when we might do a fan feature!

Also, don't forget to grab our "Glory" button! We might just pick you to win a prize if we see you showing off your patriotic colors with our button!

A good Monday morning to you all! I hope you had a good crafty weekend!

Today, I have a quick & easy tutorial showing you how to make this lovely gift bag!

I was trying to decide what I wanted to make, and I realized that it's almost the fourth of July! Liberty. We don't know that here in the Netherlands, but it looks to me like a fun time to create a little gift bag for you to bring with you for your friends & family with a little gift inside!

Of course, I used the Glory Paper collection!

                                     First cut a piece paper 7.5" x 11.5"
Make score lines for the small sections size 1" by 6" Make on the longest section size 4" So score at -5.5"- 9.5"- 11"

Fold along the one inch line to the inside and then fold the vertical lines and glue the smallest strip.

Fold the bottom of your bag like it is on the photo.

Add some glue to it and the bag is almost ready.

We are missing the handles so cut two strips from 9" x 1" and fold them, now you have two strips of 9"x 0.5" Add some glue and put them on the bag.

I also made a little dimensional star. To make this, cut a star out of the patterned paper and score the lines. After that fold them, then add some foam tape to it.

And your bag is ready!

You can also add some pieces paper to the front with some detail stickers to make a little tag. The tag itself is a sticker, I took the sticker and put it on paper, then I cut around the sticker and added an eyelet.

I hope I was able to give you a little inspiration! From the Netherlands I wish you all a great 4 July with lots of fun with family and friends!
