Feature Friday – How to Create an Embellished Paper Pouch
Today I have a little treat package for you which I’ve used to package up a home-made cookie. (Yours could be store bought if that’s not your thing, I promise I’ll never tell!) Don’t you think these would be a lovely surprise for your kids in their lunch boxes with a little love note instead of a recipe card? Or what about an informal favor for a friend who’s come over for a cup of coffee? In today’s video I’ll show you step by step how to make the little pouch from a regular brown paper lunch sack, and then I’ll show you how I embellished the pouch to look like this:

The pouch ends up with two openings, so the cookie is tucked in one, and I’ve created a hand-stamped recipe card to tuck in the smaller pocket. I’m working with my favorite recipe Oatmeal Raisin Cookies from Smitten Kitchen. My kids can’t eat nuts, so I substitute chocolate chips and I generally use Craisins for extra flavor instead of regular raisins. Oh goodness, they’re so tasty, I might have go go gobble up the last few remaining ones (as a crafter, I’m sure I’m not alone in eating my props right?)
Here’s my project start to finish, remember you can find project ideas, tutorials and more on the MFT YouTube Channel.

It’s berry picking season so I decided today that it was time to pair my Die-namics Berry Box with some new, summery patterned paper. I’m using Simple Stories: Summer Fresh, I love the bright, happy, and homespun feel to this collection.
I pulled together a coordinating thank you card using little Pure Innocence: Berry Girl. She’s been finished with a little bit of paper piecing (If you’re not familiar with the technique, you can find a how-to video here.) I’ve used both sets of Circle STAX today. Remember, if you purchase both the Set 1 and Set 2 STAX you’ll be able to get close layers like this.
When you have a pattern paper you’re loving, go on ahead and use a little more of it to finish your card inside and out. I mirrored the outside layout using two smaller Circle STAX Die-namics to add a sentiment.
I tied a quick Cheater’s Bow using the Wild Cherry Ribbon, this ribbon really ties such luscious bows, I’m pretty are you’ll love it as much as we all do! (If you’re having a tough time with bow-tying, the Cheater’s Bow might work for you. You can see how to tie one on this video.)
While I was at work, I set up my camera so that I could share a quick How-To video showing how this Die-namics works. You’ll love the embossing features on this die. The Die-namics will pre-score all your fold lines to speed the box assembly and create a beautiful debossed seed pattern.
Here’s a this week’s video, showing how to create these cute little berries. I put together an eight pack of berries last night while catching up on programs on my DVR.
I added two berry flavored candies inside each of my Berry Boxes, and tucked eight finished berries inside this fun ceramic berry box I picked up on a recent trip to the mall.
Thanks for stopping by today, have a GREAT day!

I saw the funniest thing photo on Facebook the other day, it was a little sign outside a liquor store which read: ”Be sure to buy Mom a bottle, after all you’re the reason she drinks!” This totally cracked me up, but it also sparked a little project idea. I pulled out my Let’s Toast stamp and Die-namics and got to work. I love being able to dress up a little gift to create something personalized with all the crafty materials I already have on hand.
So, in today’s feature Friday Video I’ll show you how to create a frame using the STAX Die-namics, and how to assemble our Cupped Flower style Die-namics. In this case, I’m using the Fringed Perennial Die-namics and I’ve added on the new Royal Leaves Die-namics.
For nice bold sentiments like this, I really prefer using Brilliance Ink. It has a nice even coverage, and dries so nicely. Yes, it will take a moment to dry fully and, yesyou’ll have to be careful not to smudge the still drying ink…. But its all worth it when it covers so richly like this.
For today’s video, I did all my stamping and Die-cutting in advance so you can see how all the elements come together. Pattern papers are from My Mind’s Eye – Indie Chic. Remember, you can find LOTS of product videos on the MFT YouTube Channel.
Here’s the products used in today’s video:
At last, here’s a finished photo of my project today. A great little decoration for a bottle of white or red for Mother’s Day, a hostess gift, or if wine’s not your thing, you could even dress up a bottle of artisan water! You’ll find the stamps and Die-namics used today in the MFT Boutique.
