Teaser Day Four – Doodle Garden
Today we are introducing two new sets to the Doodle Garden line, Hunny Bunny and Springtime Wishes. These adorable new sets are perfect for those of you who love to color or paper piece.

We’ve been working our way through the new Die-namics and today we have two more to share with you. First up is the Lattice Fence Die-namics. The Lattice Fence includes embossed detail and additional posts that can be layered on top of the die cut for a more dimensional effect.
You can see the Lattice Fence in this quick video, or simply click play below:
The Cone Treat Box houses a handful of small treats. The pre-scored lines make assembly a snap.
Please note: For deeper score lines and crisp folds, I recommend the Metal Adaptor Plate. It makes easy work of cutting even the most intricate die.

Teaser Time Begins – My Favorite Things February Release
We’ve been busily preparing for the My Favorite Things February 2013 Release! We hope you’ll join us for the next seven days for full set reveals, Die-namics previews and some Teaser Time Prizes!
Here are the details about the upcoming release:
Lisa Johnson has two new stamp sets and a companion Die-namics die set included in this month’s lineup. Up first is Embellished Eggs, a fresh and graphic image filled Easter/Spring stamp set featuring unique small and large eggs, sweet chicks whose wings also double as leaves for several of the spring flowers included in the set! Many of the images in this set work for every day use as well. You will love the versatility, fresh, and clean feel of Embellished Eggs! Be sure to visit with Lisa Johnson on her blog Poppy Paperie every day this week. Lisa will have continued inspiration to share with her stamps every day until the release!

The Easter Elements Die-namics dies coordinate with Embellished Eggs… but work wonderfully with felt and other textured materials. There are SO many cute things that you can create with Easter Elements!
You can see the Easter Elements Die-namics in this quick video, or simply click play below:
Spring Backgrounds is a wonderful, sweet background building stamp set that also coordinates with many of the patterns in Embellished Eggs. (Wonky Chevron, Spring Flowers, and Hounds Tooth.) This set will be a staple in your stamping supplies because of its ability for year-round, any occasion use!
Next up is the Woven Basket Die-namics. The adorable Woven Basket includes embossed detail, a lovely bow, and some “fillers” for the basket.
You can see the Woven Basket Die-namics in this quick video, or simply click play below:
The Trapezoid Treat Box works with the Woven Basket to create a decorative treat box. Cut this die twice and assemble the bases together, then assemble the box and decorate. The space-saving design makes this die more affordable.
Please note: I recommend the addition of the Metal Adaptor Plate for your sandwich stack whenever die-cutting a treat box. This will help ensure the most perfectly crisp score lines for your folds.
You can see the Trapezoid Treat Box Die-namics in this quick video, or simply click play below:

Round and Round in Circles with the MFT Design Team
The MFT Design Team Creative Challenge is a monthly feature, where we are challenged to explore our creative side using a specific theme, product, or technique. This month, we challenged the team to create with our Circle STAX. Just below you’ll find a list of all participating designers who have a project to share with you today.
This months Creative Challenge was to use Circle STAX, and I decided to incorporate them into an unconventional Valentine’s Day card for hubby.
I started off by cutting two circles, each with cut outs in the center, using various sizes of Circle STAX so I would have a multidimensional look to my Magic 8 Ball. I also cut out a piece of acetate, which I colored blue using a Copic marker reinker, and a triangle made from the smallest piece in Jumbo Banner STAX Die-namics. My nickname for Martin is My Handsome, so it was perfectly fitting that I found these two words and combined them to personalize this card for him. I used LLD Document It – Off the Chart and LLD Document It – Days and Dates. I had to commit a little *stampacide* to make this card happen, but sometimes it’s worth it!
I used my B14 reinker to make my acetate panel a shade of blue that pretty closely resembles the liquid inside a Magic 8 Ball. I didn’t want it to be a completely even coat because when the Magic 8 Ball is shaken up, it is always filled with air bubbles (mine is anyway) and I wanted to make it look realistic.
To create depth in this project, I layered the two cut-outs together, adding pop-dots between the two so that the triangle greeting would have room to maneuver inside the card.
I committed a bit more *stampacide* by cutting two sentiments in At the Movies to create the sentiment True Love Is and then finished with High-Rise Alphabet to add the word Magic. Once I cut my letters, I added a glitter paint so they would look the part. I love how they turned out!
Here is a picture of the front of the card. I kept it very simple because I didn’t want to compete with the Magic 8 Ball since that was the focus. I used LJD Hearts and Stitches to add a little detail to the front so it wouldn’t appear so plain.
Here’s a close-up of the front of the card. I love how the inside moves and recreates the look of a real Magic 8 Ball!
You’ll find links to the products I’ve used just below:
I can’t wait to see what the MFT Team has conjured up in this challenge, but you can bet each post will be chock-full of amazingness!

Introducing MFT Academy – Class Is in Session!
Welcome to the MFT Academy – your guest professor today is Inge, who will be teaching you about coloring with Prismacolor Pencils.

Hello everyone. I’m here to show you a bit about coloring with Prismacolor Premier Pencils. So grab a cup of coffee, scroll, and enjoy.
Choose the materials you want to work with. For this project I’ve selected:
tip: I always choose my patterned paper before starting to color. That way you don’t have to search endlessly for matching paper once you’ve finished coloring an image.
Step 1. Stamp your image with Memento Ink onto Neenah Classic Crest white. This paper is perfect for blending with pencils! I always stamp two images to experiment a bit with colors. Choose pencils that match your patterned paper.
Start coloring with Peach 939. Color the entire face, and her arms lightly.
Step 2. Dip the paper stump into your odorless mineral spirits, and then move in little circles around your colored area. The blending solution makes the color look soft and smooth.
Step 3. Take a darker color, in this case 1092, and make a bit of a shadow around her hairline, and on her arm closest to her body.
Step 4. Using your paper stump and odorless spirits, repeat the blending process for a smooth finish.
Step 5. Color a bit with the darkerst color 943, where a shadow would fall. In this instance that would be along her hairline, and on her arms just closest to her body, for more depth.
Step 6. Repeat the blending process as outlined above. Skin is ready, colored with three different pencils.
Step 7. The hair is first colored with 945, then you’ll blend with the paper stump. Two small areas of white are left to represent a highlight where the light reflects off of her hair.
Step 8.Take a darker color, 947, and add some deeper shading closest to the hairline, down towards her ears, and again where her pigtails meet her hair elastic. Repeat the blending process with the paper stump and odorless mineral spirits. Maintain the small spot of white as a highlight.
Step 9. Now we are going to make some pleats. This might look difficult, but by practicing you can easily get fun results! I’ve used three different green tones: 1096, 1097, 1098, and started with the lightest color.
When you look closely at her blouse, you will notice scalloped lines at the bottom. Draw a line straight up from each of the pleats, stopping about half way up, and then draw a line down from the top portion of the blouse. Be sure that the lines are alternating, not crossing.
Step 10. Blend using the paper stump and odorless mineral spirits. Blend only on one side of each pleat line.
Step 11. Take a darker color and repeat the process. Draw a second layer of pleats directly on top of original set, and they will blend nicely. Again, blend only on one side of the pleats for a soft look.
Step 12. Blend using the paper stump and odorless mineral spirits. Then, repeat the pleat-drawing and blending process with the darkest color.
Step 13. For her trousers, I’ve used three different grey tones: 1061, 1063, 1065, and worked in layers as I did with the skin tones.
First, starting with the lightest color, fill the entire area. Next, blend with the paper stump and odorless mineral spirits for a smooth finish. Then, add shading where her shirt would cast a shadow (onto the top portion of her pants) with the middle toned grey, and blend. Lastly, add the deepest layer of shadow with the darkest grey, and repeat the blending process.
Step 14. Now we are going to make some red cheeks. I heart red cheeks:) Put a bit of the red chalk on your brush and dab it gently onto her cheeks.
Step 15. Using the same greens you’ve used to create the blouse, color a matching underground for her to stand on. (Stay tuned for an upcoming MFT Academy tutorial focusing on creating grounding for your images.)
Step 16. Add a background for your image by adding a bit of blue chalk with a brush.
Step 17. She’s ready to use for your card or project! If you’d like you can stamp the edges with Finishing Flourishes Stamp Set. It gives the image a nice vintage look.
Here are the links to the products I’ve used:
