Design Team Highlight: Halloween

Hello Friday and Happy Weekend!

I love sharing projects from our Design Team Gallery each week with you and today is no exception!  As Halloween is less than two weeks away, I thought it would be the perfect theme for today.

Annette added pages to her Halloween mini album using our exclusive and limited edition October kit and tags from our Spooky Tales collection.

Vee also used our October kit to create a Halloween themed card for her daughter's friend.  A striking minimalist design.

I love the layers on this card created by Laurel.  So many details to take in and a great combination of our October kit and several other ES products.

We hope these highlights from our talented design team inspires you to put your Elle's Studio products to use!

Project Life: Travel Edition

This week's Project Life covers a page in my Disney Travel album.

Fall Break is upon us, and I know many of you will be traveling!  I will often tell people that if they are considering the Project Life/ pocket styled scrapbooking method, start by documenting a vacation.  It helps to have an "ending point" in mind as you put together your album.  Vacations are perfect for pocket style scrapbooking!

We visited Walt Disney World in May of this year, and I have really enjoyed documenting this vacation using the Project Life method.  Obviously, I am not documenting in a week-by-week method, but rather, focusing in blocked events and using Project Life page dividers to mark each day.  This page documents our evening exploring the Magic Kingdom.

I decided to balance all the fireworks/evening photos by placing the Elle's Studio "Love you to the Moon and Back" journaling card on the opposite page.  The chalkboard effect in this card is a perfect balance to the darker photos on the opposite page.

While traveling, I am very aware of odds and ends to save in order to add to my albums later.  For instance, the receipt of the $5 water bottle (!!!) at the Disney Parks was worth noting and saving.  I also love saving maps in order to document our day (this is great for amusement parks, zoos, museums, etc).

We want to feature your Project Life album!  During the last week of each month we will be featuring a couple Project Life spreads that caught our eye in the Member Gallery.  We will be posting Project Life spreads on our blog tomorrow!   If your spread is featured we will be sending you a $5 gift card to use in our store.   Good Luck!

Project Life was created by Becky Higgins as a way to simplify how you document life and preserve memories. Photo pockets used in my Project Life album are created by Becky and can be found here.  You can read of all the Elle's Studio Project Life posts here.

Capture Life - 10.14.13

Capture Life - Home

The leaves are displaying their beautiful hues, there’s a frost in the morning air, and the evenings end with snuggling around the fireplace. It’s FALL; my favorite time of year.
It means pumpkins, gourds, trick or treating, and spending time at home.

On a drizzly morning when all my kids were gone, I took a little walk around our yard and captured the “now”.

Our house has changed a lot since we bought it. We’ve remodeled, added on, and did a bit of landscaping.

I challenge you to capture your HOME at this beautiful colorful time of year.

Canon 24-70mm f5.6  1/320 ISO400

This year we planted a bunch of pumpkins and gourds. We are loving having them on display around the yard.
Canon 24-70mm f5.6  1/400 ISO400

Be sure your capture your front door. It’s then entry way into your Everyday Life and deserves a special spot in your album.
Canon 24-70mm f5.6  1/400 ISO400
Canon 24-70mm f57.1  1/250 ISO400

Don’t forget the details!
Canon 24-70mm f5.6  1/320 ISO200
Canon 24-70mm f5.6  1/250 ISO200

To capture this photo I actually got down on the ground. This angle creates that beautiful depth of field.
Canon 24-70mm f2.8  1/200 ISO800
Now, let’s get those photos on a page and our memories recorded!

I used the October Tag Kit along with the brand new October Digital Cut Files to create my layout.

I hope you are inspired to get out and capture your HOME. Big, small, country, or city … capture your special place today!

Now go on … Get out and Capture Life!

Design Team Highlight: Limited Edition ES October Kit

Hello, Friday!

Have you snagged your limited edition October kit, yet?  What are you waiting for?!  Our exclusive kits are available in limited quantities - once they're gone, they're gone.  You don't want to miss it!

This month, we also introduced digital cut files that coordinate perfect with our monthly kit.  The best part?  You can use them over and over again on whatever project you'd like!

Our talented design team definitely worked their magic with this month's kit - take a peek!

Janna used our October kit in combination with our Penelope collection to create a Halloween invitation.  The colors just scream Fall, don't they?

DT member Jen Chesnick also combined the October kit and Penelope - a perfect combination! - to create this layout of her adorable daughter.

As always, our monthly kits are perfect for Project Life style layouts as well as Stephanie shows.  The tags make the perfect embellishments for each pocket of your project.

Last but not least, Suz used the October kit to create the perfect container for Halloween treats!  Who would turn down treats like these?!

You can check out these and other projects using the limited edition October kit in our design team gallery.

We'd love to see what YOU create with our October kit, too!  If you're sharing your projects online, don't forget to use hashtag #ellesstudio so that we can see them!

Also, BRAND NEW this month are coordinating cut files! These cut files coordinate with the October kit and as you can see, the designs where pulled right off some of the tags! Our cut files include .png and .svg files. Here's a peek at October's cut files:
And, while I was planning out my Christmas cards, I came up with this design and we have this one available in the shop, too! It would be great over photos on layouts and in Project Life, too!
Also, since it is October 10th, that means we have some new inspiration in our, Inspiration Gallery, from our amazing and incredible Design Team and special Guest Designer this month, Geralyn Sy! Look for a special blog post all about Geralyn, coming soon! Here's some sneak peeks of what is in store and in the gallery now:
There are so many wonderful projects to check out - many use our October kit and some even use our newest collections (Penelope, Noel, and 2014)! Don't forget, while you're checking out the Inspiration Gallery you can bookmark your favorite layouts by clicking on the "I heart this" button!

See even more inspiration at each of our Contributing Team Member's blogs, today too! Make sure you stop by the following: Angie Gutshall, Daniela Dobson, Jennifer Chapin, Kay Rogers, Meghann Andrew, and Melissa Mann!

Our new collections are also in-stock and shipping now. Check out our all-girl collection we named Penelope, our Noel collection for the holidays, and our 2014 calendars that will fit your pocket pages, but would also work great for mini books (and even Christmas presents!).
We've also stocked up our Layout Kits - these are so easy and fun to put together. Minimal cutting is required and all you have to do is follow the instructions included in the kit to put the layout together and add your photos! These are perfect for someone just starting out or for someone who wants to get something done quickly!

It's such an exciting day here and we can't thank you enough for joining us! We've been getting a lot of emails about a December Daily kit and wanted to let you know that we are not putting together a separate kit for December Daily this year, BUT our November and December monthly kits will definitely have items in them that will work perfectly for your albums ;) We'll show sneaks of those as soon as we can. And, we are still working on the subscription option for these monthly kits. If you are interested, please email us to be put on a list that will be the first to know when subscriptions are available!

Wishing you guys a wonderful week!
