If you're a scrapbooker and long for the convenience of printing your own photos at home - this printer is for you!  The Epson Stylus R1900 Ink Jet Printer is the perfect companion for any paper crafter.  The friendly people at Epson were kind enough to send us a printer to test and share our findings with our Two Peas community.  I have previous experience with Epson printers but this one is definitely is top of the line.

How about some details?

• Looking to be able to print photos to fit your 12" paper on your next layout?  Easy peasy.  This printer prints image up to 13" wide and up to 44" long.  When testing this printer, I used 13"x19" paper several times with superior results.  I printed 8"x12" photos for my daughter's baby album and a 13"x15" custom art piece to hang above our mantel to name just a few.  You can't imagine how convenient it is to simply be able to open a photo file on your computer and then print at whatever size you'd like so that you can quickly and easily complete the project you're working on.
• Red and orange inks.  This is something new for this printer that wasn't featured in earlier models.  There are eight separate color ink cartridges insuring that you receive the quality color you're looking for.  If you're used to one color cartridge in your printer, this may seem overwhelming at first but this is such a convenience factor as you only replace whatever single color cartridge needs replacing instead of a multi-color cartridge that is only low in one ink color.  This helps to conserve ink!
• The R1900 uses two different black inks - matte and photo blacks.  These two black inks bring out the more subtle shades in your prints that would be missed by other printers.  Shades of grey and tones of black are easily visible and make for a richer, truer print.  Your black and white prints look absolutely amazing!
• You can truly make your prints your own.  This printer prints on several different paper mediums : glossy, luster, matte, canvas and fine art paper.  My personal preference is the luster as it  allows for the bright and true colors that I love but doesn't show all of the fingerprints I might leave on a print while working with it for a project.
• Prints are water, smudge and fade proof.  If these wouldn't be at the top of a scrapbooker's requirement list for a printer, I don't know what would be!  Who hasn't spilled their drink of choice on their work surface while working on a project?  Or maybe I'm just clumsy?  I unintentionally put this claim to the test while working on a project earlier this month.  And yes, my print came out just fine - even after dumping a glass of ice water on it!

I could go on an on about how much I enjoyed putting this printer through it's paces, but wanted to be sure I mentioned one more thing - the R1900's ease of use.  This printer is as easy to use as any that you've used in the past - if not easier.  From opening the box to producing my first print, I clocked myself at less than 1 hour.  This includes installing the software and opening up my photo editing program to get started.  It's easy to print what you want in any size you want simply by changing the settings in the print menu.  If I had to name one negative about this printer, my only comment would be is that it doesn't come with a USB cord to connect the printer to your computer.  And this is only a downside if you don't already have an extra cord laying around or if you're a bit lacking in the patience department (such as myself) when wanting to try out a new gadget.  Considering how much fun I had using the printer and the amazing results I had when using it, this minor inconvenience was quickly forgotten.
