Heritage Challenge #24--Love is in the Air

Hello Heritage scrappers and welcome to Heritage Challenge #24--Love is in the Air!

February is the month that includes Valentine's Day, so thoughts naturally turn to love.  This month, I challenge you to create layouts that fall into one of the following categories.

Challenge 1:  Did you know that President Harry Truman had a lifelong habit of writing to his wife Bess every day that he was away from her?  Perhaps you have a similar trove of letters written while a loved one was away at war, stationed abroad, or just away traveling.  Why not include a letter or details from letter as part of your journaling on a layout?  It can be any written communication between two people.

Challenge 2:  Create any layout on the theme of love.  You could scrap engagement or wedding photos, tell a story about the love between siblings, or between parents and children.

Guidelines: Anyone can play. Praise others when you can. You can combine this with as many challenges as you like. This challenge officially runs through February, but you can always post later.

Here's a link to the message board post.

Fall, leaves, fall

Original Author: Emily Bronte

Fall, leaves, fall; die, flowers, away; Lengthen night and shorten day; Every leaf speaks bliss to me Fluttering from the autumn tree. I shall smile when wreaths of snow Blossom where the rose should grow; I shall sing when night's decay Ushers in a drearier day.

User Comments:
I have seen several pages with just the last two lines of the first stanza ("Every leaf speaks bliss...").

An Irish Blessing (humorous)

Original Author: Unknown

May those who love us, love us. And for those who don't love us, May God turn their hearts. And if He doesn't turn their hearts, May He turn their ankles So we may know them By their limping.

User Comments:
I actually used this as the last page in a bitty album I made for DH. His family is Irish, and I had a picture of him with one of our DD razzing the camera.

God is a poet

Original Author: Unknown

Perhaps God is a poet who writes with words of flesh and bone and leaf and flower. Every hour of every day words pour out of the poet's heart and every word is beautiful and true and worth the telling. And when each poem is perfect, and there is no more which ought to be said, the poet gently takes the words back into His heart where they are safe forever... And then begins again.

User Comments:
This was on a Hallmark sympathy card. If the memorial is for a baby, I would add "You were perfect from the start."
