this is EXACTLY how i do mine, except i go one step further and create a folder for each new day/event and label it with date and descriptive words that might help me if i have to do a search (so essentially, i tag the folder with labels).

it is a BRILLIANT way to stay organized.

I do the same thing but each of my folders within each year is labeled year, month, day description. That way they sort by name. For example, 2009_10_31 Halloween.

Oh, I wish I could hire you to teach me these things! I don't even know what resized photos mean!
Seriously, you should think about running a course like this thru parks and recreation in your areas. There are plenty of people who are intimidated by their computers like me.

I need to learn in person... I can follow demo's in person but I find it hard to follow on line directions.

Hey, I think that is the same program that I have on my computer. Is that "MY PICTURES" that you are using.

I know how to create a folder that you are naming by year. But then how do you create the second set of folders that subgroup each year into months..and ditto for how to create the third set that break it down into categories?
I am really hopeless on the computer...I would love to learn this system...

Good idea. I sort of have this type of system but need to dial it in. I also wish I had time to name every single one of my photos. I name them (so they are tagged) if I digitally alter / improve them. THanks for the organizing ideas.
