FriendCard 475 CindyT
HELLO FRIEND by Cindy Tobey

I cut a large pinked edge on my “Hello Friend” card and followed the edge shape with colors of embroidery floss picked up from the circle tag to create a fun chevron stripe effect. I also lined the inside of my card with patterned paper since a bit of it shows even when the card is closed.

Supplies: 12x12 Cardstock Charcoal (71077) – AC Cardstock, Sienna Spirit Paper (35672) – Sketchbook,  Die Cut Cardstock Shapes (77290) – Bits, Fabric Brads (85578) – Elements, Value Pack Ribbon (58817) – Premium Ribbon, Journal White (53338) – Thickers, Dot Glue Runner (61721) – This to That

MomCard 475 CindyT
MOM by Cindy Tobey

I love that some of the Sketchbook papers feature outline drawings – just waiting to be filled in with paint, or thread and in this case, both. I filled one of the flowers in with a little paint and a lot of embroidery floss.

Supplies: 12x12 Cardstock Lemon (71039) – AC Cardstock, Sienna Spirit Paper (35672) – Sketchbook, Leaf Ribbon (58272) – Premium Ribbon, Fabric Brads (85578) – Elements, Value Pack Ribbon (58817) – Premium Ribbon, Journal Grass (53339) – Thickers, 6x6 Paper Pad (35696) – Sketchbook, Layered Tags (77289) – Bits, Dot Glue Runner (61721) – This to That

SmileCard 475 CindyT
SMILE by Cindy Tobey

I sketched the word “smile” onto the patterned paper and then stitched over the top for my card’s greeting. I also filled in one of the cameras with embroidery floss. Filling in an area on paper with floss can be tricky since the stitches need to be fairly close together. I usually adhere a piece of thin, gauzy fabric to the back of the area I’ll be stitching over which helps hold stitches in place even if two of the holes I pierce through the paper tear and turn into one hole.

Supplies: 12x12 Cardstock Tangerine (71034) – AC Cardstock, Indigo Inspiration Paper (35686) – Sketchbook, Paige’s Portraits Paper (35691) – Sketchbook, Sydney’s Snapshots Paper (35688) – Sketchbook, Mini Brads Cricket (84884) – Elements, Pigment Fabric Stickers (42241) – Remarks, Palette Sticker Book (42240) – Remarks, Dot Glue Runner (61721) – This to That
