Dates: Thurs. 2/7/13 to Mon. 2/18/13
WF13 Golden Oldies Blog Post (THIS POST!) = details on how to enter and a gallery of entries (scroll to bottom)
WF13 Golden Oldies Challenge Discussion Thread = chatter and questions
WF13 Master Thread = all WF13 challenges
This challenge is to use at least one "Golden Oldie" stamp in a NEW project that fits a "Golden Oldie" challenge.
- It must be a NEW project.
- The project can be any project of your choice: card, artist trading card (ATC), gothic arch, scrapbook page, altered canvas, etc. as long as it meets the other challenge requirements. Please note that some of the Golden Oldie challenges are more specific.
- It must include the use of at least one "Golden Oldie" stamp AND it must fit a "Golden Oldie" challenge (see below).
- Upload your project to the Stamping Gallery, check the checkbox for this challenge, and include WF13 in the title of your project.
- Include a description of how you made your project, or what inspired it, or what you learned while doing it, or all of the above! Also tell us what you love about your "Golden Oldie" stamp AND which "Golden Oldie" challenge you picked and why.
- Post a link to your project in the Discussion Thread for this challenge (see instructions for creating a link below).
- Leave Pea Praise for at least one other challenger for THIS challenge (you can find other entries in the gallery at the bottom of this blog post or links on the discussion thread) and then post a link to the project you praised in the Discussion Thread for this challenge.
- You may enter as many times as you'd like, but each time you enter, it must be a NEW project and you must leave Pea Praise for a new project. (If there is no one left to leave Pea Praise for in this challenge, leave Pea Praise on another challenge participant's project.)
- You may combine this challenge with others. Updated: In the interest of not stepping on toes, please do not combine the Golden Oldie My House challenge with Anna-Karin's Make a Scene challenge or April's (StampWilly's) Use Those Scraps challenge.
- If you enter this challenge, you are also giving me permission to share the photo(s) you uploaded to the Two Peas Stamping Gallery of your winning project on my blog, Gaal Creative.
- I will select one random winner from all qualified entries.
Golden Oldie Stamps
- There seems to be such an emphasis on what is new and what's the latest and greatest. For this challenge, we are going to do the opposite! Use some of your oldies but goodies, you know, those stamps that haven't seen ink in a long time but that you LOVE! Bring 'em back out again and welcome those Golden Oldies back! And tell us what you love about the stamp(s) you've chosen!
Golden Oldie Challenges
- Select from one or more of these 7 challenges from Winterfests past AND use at least one stamp! The description of each challenge is included here, as I see them, so you don't have to go back to the original links. I've also included links to some of the previous challenge entries - so be sure to leave Pea Praise for them if you visit the links!
- WF08 My House Challenge originally posted by Jan (Far North): For this challenge you will need to start saving your scraps. This will be one of the last cards you create during this stamping event. You will begin this challenge by thinking of the shape of the outline of your house and will make it as the focal point of this card (or whatever base you prefer). Use the scraps as you can and add a few stamped images (at least one). Tell us a couple special features of your home that you included in your art.
- WF08 Victorian/Vintage Fans originally posted by Nancy (Wildheart): Create a fan using the template that Nancy (Wildheart) provided. Cut fans blades out of cardstock. It is up to you how full you want your fan but I find you need a minimum of 6 "blades". On this fan I also glued torn pattern paper and sewed along the edges - but you do not have to get that fancy.
- WF09 Neglected Tools Challenge originally posted by Daria (djc): What tool did you have to have but still haven't used or maybe used once? For me, the two that come to mind immediately are the Rollagraph and the Melting Pot. There are more. For this challenge, I'd like you to find one of the tools that you haven't used and use it. Open that box. Read those directions. Figure out how to use it and inspire the rest of us to use ours. Create a card or another project with whatever you've made using your neglected tool and post it to the Stamping Gallery. There must be stamping somewhere on your project.
- WF09 Trash 2 Treasure Challenge originally posted by Lisa Renea (skrapchik): Take a photo of a piece of trash. Use it and at least one stamp in a new project. Photograph your new treasure and upload it to the Stamping Gallery.
- WF10 Polymer Clay Challenge originally posted by Mimi (Scrappin_Mimi): Use a stamped image in polymer clay. It can be any kind of project, as long as you use polymer clay and at least one stamp. Tell us how you used the polymer clay to get the look you achieved in your project.
- WF11 Mail-able Stamped Jewelry originally posted by Daniel (Looser): Use your stamps to make a wearable piece of jewelry and, just to keep things interesting, your jewelry must be able to be mailed in a regular envelope.
- WF12 It's a Treat Challenge originally posted by Michelle (Meechelle): For this one, your challenge is to make a treat/gift container of some kind. It can be a box, bag, jar, tin, etc., it just needs to include stamping and it must be a new project. Tell us how you made your project and include links to templates you find on the web if you use them.
The randomly selected winner will receive a gently used or duplicate stamp of their choice from a selection I am offering.
I will announce the winner on or before Wed., Feb. 20th. The winner will have 24 hours to contact me regarding the gently used stamp of their choice and with their snail mail address. If the winner fails to contact me, I will contact a new winner, and repeat the process until one winner is selected.
How to create a link in a Discussion Thread:
1. Find the project in the Stamping Gallery.
2. In your browser, highlight the ENTIRE url (web address) for that page and press Ctrl+C to copy that url to your clipboard.
3. Come to THIS Discussion Thread and click Post Reply. The Message Board Posting window appears.
4. Just after the row of smilies / emoticons, there is PeaCode. Click URL. A URL pop-up appears.
5. The entire http:// phrase in the pop-up window should be highlighted. Press Ctrl+V to paste the link from your clipboard. Click OK. The pop-up changes.
6. Instead of web page type something more descriptive, like my floral entry or Susie's birthday card basically giving the person's name or Peaname and the project title. Click OK. The code gets pasted into your Message Board Post.
7. Ta da!
NOTE: You may find it helpful to have TWO browser window or tabs open ... one on the Stamping Gallery and the other on the Discussion Thread, to make the cutting and pasting easier.
MAC USERS: I think that you use Cmd+C to copy and Cmd+V to paste.
Working with links from old challenges:
- Many old links don't work anymore, because for a while, the word "kaboose" was part of the URL and those links are no longer recognized.
- For old Message Board links, copy and paste the URL, then simply remove "kaboose" plus the extra dot and hit enter, and that should take you to the correct Message Board thread.
- For old Gallery links, they've completely changed the way the gallery works and just removing "kaboose" doesn't work anymore. The best solution is to click on the person's PeaName and drill down / back in time in their gallery to find what you are looking for. OR search the Stamping Gallery using search terms like "WS House".
