Hi there Fancy Pants Designs crafty friends,

Today I am going to share a fabulous mixed media technique: 'Ombre Ink Wash', that I am sure you are going to want to try out too.

Artsy supplies you'll be needing

  • Yellow spray ink
  • Orange spray Ink
  • Shocking pink spray ink
  • Red spray ink
  • Large paint brush
  • Water

Step #1

Collect your supplies. I used a piece of water-color paper as the base.

Step #2

Kim Watson+Step#2+FP

Wash the top of your paper with a band of plain water. Now dip your brush in the yellow ink and wash across your page, blending as you paint.

Step #3

Kim Watson+Step#3+FP

Wash another band of plain water underneath the first yellow band and blend another yellow stripe using less ink so the yellow color is less vibrant.

Step #4

Kim Watson+Step#4+FP

Wash another two bands across your page, painting with orange next, then pink with a touch of red on the edge for extra punch.

Step #5

Kim Watson+Step#5+FP

Using your dot pattern stencil, daub red ink with cotton wool or a sponge around the edges of your page for texture.

Step #6

Kim Watson+Step#6+FP

Use the ink-wet sponge to re-color the entire dot stencil to be used in your page design.

Step #7

Kim Watson+Step#7+FP

Dip a wet paint brush in blue ink & loosely run it along the edge of the page for a flash of contrast color.

Layer your page elements on top of the colored stencil.

Using strips of moistened patterned paper and clear packing tape, make yourself some 'faux washi tape'.

Attach sentiment stickers as journaling and some tabs and a button and you are all done.

If you use this technique to create a page using Fancy Pants Designs products, remember to upload it to our Facebook page for us all to enjoy.

Happy crafting!

~Kim
