I didn't realize it needed so much space to work when I ordered it. It makes sense to elevate it on something.

ETA: NOT complaining about the space issue- I just didn't visualize how it worked. LOVE the Cameo. It is one of my favorite scrap purchases ever. It is so well designed and the software is awesome!

Mine is just sitting on a table next to my printer. I haven't had an issue with it needing to be elevated.

I have an L-shaped computer desk. It's sitting on one of the desk extensions. My monitor is on the other one. It's not an ideal set-up at all but not the worst. Definitely looking for some ideas.

I bought my desk 10-11 years ago from Ikea (still love it) and at the time I also bought an elevated shelf that stands on the desk. The shelf is 31" length by 12" depth. It's holding the Cameo quite nicely, although I have to admit it just arrived and I haven't plugged it in yet

When I re-vamped my scrap space last year I knew I would eventually have a Sil or Cameo and I built a shelf that sits over my trimmer (which is huge) specifically for it. Can not wait for my cameo to arrive and rest on its new home

Right on my desk which I don't scrap on, it is just my "command center". I have my original Silhouette on my left, then my laptop and my Cameo is on my right. I do still have space to work in front of the Cameo if I need to as it is pushed to the back of the desk.

My regular printer is next to me on a small table so it is within easy reach for print and cuts.

Mine is sitting next to my printer at the moment, I bring it out when I need to cut and give it plenty of room to do its cutting (as the mat moves back and forth).

When I get everything settled (just got the machine) and tidied up, I'll be getting a small bookshelf that can sit freely and not against a wall.

Yeah, I didn't think it needed lots of space despite seeing all the information on it, somehow thought it would be a little more compact.

However, the Cameo is a great machine despite the size/working area needed.

Mine is sitting on my desk atm. It's not exactly where I'd like it though. I bought a microwave cart for my Pazzles Inspiration and Silhouette SD to sit on. I have a 12x24 mat for the Inspiration so I wanted to be able to roll it out when I needed that extra room. I was planning on putting my Cameo there and moving the Inspiration to the lower shelf (where the SD is now and selling the SD) but it's too big! It won't fit. So it's staying where it is and the Cameo is on my desk. If I ever get around to cleaning my scraproom, I will probably move it. But, that requires 1) my husband to take my daughter to his parents for the weekend, 2) actual cleaning is apparently involved, and 3) a knee that will bend and to be crutch free. One day, it will be in the perfect spot where I don't have to adjust it when I use it. Anyone know when "one day" is?

Thank you all for your input. Would love to hear any other ideas, too.

I think I just need to clear out some junk from my scraproom that I never use and make it more efficient.

My Cameo sits on a shelf that I found at target in the closet building section. Its dark brown and a 1 tier shelf with a top. Its made for shoes, but when I measured it, I found it was long enough for my 12 x 12 printer and the Cameo could fit perfectly on the shelf. The shelf sits on an Ikea build-a-cabinet for their desks ( they come black and white). Mine is black. It's always there unless I'm using it, then I bring it to my desk.

Mine is on my desk. I have two desks, back to back, and it's placed at the back of one of the desks. So I can just move all of my clutter and junk out of the way when I need to cut.

Before it's current place, I had it on a shallower place and to use it, pulled it forward so there was space at the back. Pulling it forward placed it at the edge of the surface, so I kept a piece of corrugated cardboard under the Cameo that I could place under the front edge to support the cutting mat and paper. The cardboard was maybe 4 inches wide and 13 inches long, so just fit under the length of the Cameo when I wasn't using it.

Adriansmom, you need enough space in the back for the cutting mat to come out the other side. So about 10-12 inches.

I work at a huge counter height table. When I'm using it, I keep it on the table and just move my stuff out of the way if it migrates that far.

Mine sits on my Alex unit from Ikea. It's exactly the right size. Because it's on wheels, I can nest the unit under my table (I scrap on an old kitchen table) when I'm not scrapping, then just bring it out when I'm working. The cameo doesn't go under the table, but the rest of the Alex drawers do!

I made a top for my Raskog cart. The top lifts off so I can get to my stuff.
Sometimes it sits there and other times it just sits on my dining room table.

But I want to get a blue little cart/coffee table thing from ikea to use instead

I bought a new computer hutch from Sauder. It is wider than double wide.. It came with a hutch. It is antique white. I keep it on the left side of the desk in the back behind the monitor. my printer is on the right side of t he desk. When I use it...I just put the monitor to center of my desk & the cameo has a huge place to cut with plenty of extra room to move while cutting. I love it.

Mine is on a three tier wire shelf I bought from Target. It has my Cameo on top, the second shelf houses my printer, the third shelf has my Cricut. It works and it's at an angle so the back is open for the cutting mat to move in and out.

My Cameo is sitting on a cutting board kitchen cart I bought at Big Lots rather cheap. I have a TV tray I pull out for my laptop when I am using my Cameo. It has worked out very well. Plus the cart has a drawer and cabinet that I keep my dies and Cuttlebug stuff in. The drawer has the Cameo mats, blades etc.

How do you guys have it on elevated platforms and small carts? Doesn't it need a sturdy surface for about 11 inches in front and another 11 in back of it?

This is my concern right now. I used to scrap on a big folding table and my Cameo sat at the end of it and there was plenty of space in front and back for the mat to slide back and forth. In my new scraproom I'll have a small desk and I can't figure out what to do with the Cameo.

If you don't need the 11 inches of steady surface in front and back of it, how does that work?

Because the mat runs through rollers, you can just have the mat moving through the air in front of and in back of the machine. The rollers grip the mat very firmly and it's very secure. I probably would want the 24" long mat supported, but the 12" mat is light enough for the rollers to support it, even with an added sheet of paper on the mat.

I had mine on a pretty sturdy folding table -- but my machine started skipping around when it was cutting. After checking out possible reasons for that, I found there was a slight vibration on the folding table that I thought might be causing the problem. I moved it to a solid wooden desk and it started cutting better... for a while. I still had problems after a while and contacted Silhouette. They replaced the machine, but the replacement started doing the same thing-
I'm now on my third machine and haven't had a chance to work with it much.

I have it on a solid wooden desk now to rule out the vibration issue. Has anyone else had an issue like this?

Mine is next to my monitor on my computer desk, which is not my scrap space. I have a computer desk and a scrapbook/craft table.

Noell, there isn't anything in front of my Cameo and it's pushed back towards the wall. I find that I don't need to move it if I'm making small cuts or narrow or horizontal cuts along the top of the page if that makes sense. If the cuts I'm making go farther down the page I just move the machine away from the wall and move it back when I'm finished.

My computer is in the kitchen and so unfortunately, I have to hook it up on my kitchen island. My craft room is upstairs and so I bring it down and plug it in to use it. You just need space for the mat to move back and forth.

I have 2 surfaces that are parallel to each other with my office chair in the middle. One surface is a narrow table top which holds my computer, monitor and printer with not much space left over. When I had my original Sil. I could squish it in there but the cameo is too long. My other surface is a large desk that I scrap on. I set my cameo at the back right corner of the desk. The ac adapter is long enough to reach the wall behind the machine (I have more storage on this wall so there's a space between the desk and the wall but no one really walks there. I do unplug the adapter when I'm not scrapping just in case.) I have a USB adaptor cord that goes from the cameo USB cord to my computer as the original cord on its own is too short. Again I only plug in when needed so there is not a jumble of cords all over the place. Works well for me!

Mine is underneath a shelving unit on top of my printer. Both are pulled away from the wall. The printer needs space in front of it and the Cameo needs both front and back so I figured they were a good pair. Turns out the Cameo is only an inch longer than the printer too, so that helped. Before I got the Cameo my Cricut occupied that exact spot.

LOVE this thread! Mine is next to my computer and printer - desk height. But my scrapping stuff is at the other end of the room. I'd LOVE to have enough room to have it right next to my scrapping stuff. It's been a goal of mine to streamline this part of my scrapping. I use my Silhouette a LOT.
