Get the Look: 2 Months

Projects-25bc89f1-0939-41de-ba96-33ab0617584b-61541c4dc98844348ef927e49d9dbb40

Hello and happy Monday, friends!  Today's edition of Get the Look is inspired by this page by mettek.  A white backdrop combined with neutral elements make the perfect foundation for splashes of color and graphic accents.  I love the hint of vintage mixed with a modern stark white canvas.  Here is how one might achieve mettek's look:

Getthelook430

1. Mist 2. Clock stamp 3.Kraft tags 4. Global tape 5. Wooden buttons 6. Mini black letters 7. Red alpha stickers 8. Vintage tickets 9. Ruler washi tape 10. Resin shabby chic charms

We hope that inspires you to pull together your supplies or create a look of your own!  We'll see you tomorrow with a fun technique from Wilna.

Projects-5a6aea60-0a38-471b-b880-215bbfa26716-b99883923fed40f8b09296129aeff9a0

From Becky, "This photography challenge is near and dear to me :) I adore shooting from the hip...and that is my challenge for you. If you're wondering what I mean, I mean to shoot from the hip quite literally. I'll often use my hipbone to stabilize my camera as I shoot. I have gotten some of my most favorite images from a no look, hip shot. Can't wait to see what you get!"

Saturday Card Sketch with Kimber

Sketch428

From Kimber, "For this sketch, I have a lot of layering of pattern papers and cardstocks plus a place for a sentiment stamp or great embellishment. This is one of those sketches that you can use over and over again. By simply changing the color palette of your papers you can go from birthday card to sympathy card."

This Week's Class Videos 4.26.2012

Thisweeksclassvideos

Welcome to the weekend, friends.  Each week on this day we take a look back on what classes + videos went live on Two Peas.  Enjoy!

Memory Keeping Monday: Love Lives Here by Jen Gallacher

  Projects-da6592da-b650-4303-9acc-2c8051887908-8422588d83f1456b8840f9bbc7b38bd2

From Jen, "This month I combined the option of following the monthly theme of "Favorite Place," as well as, using florals my layout.

My favorite place is anywhere my children are. As this month marks the fifth anniversary of my son's passing, I wanted to create a layout about some of my favorite "places" with him. I can't always create layouts when I'm sad or missing him. I wait until I feel ok with it and then I write or journal about my feelings. There are lots of difficult topics when it comes to scrapbooking, my philosophy is to do it when you're ready. There's no reason to push yourself when you're not.

In addition to covering a difficult topic, I wanted to show you some ways to change up your florals for your projects. Be sure to watch the helpful video that shows you a fun coloring technique:

The Adventures of Glitter Girl: Episode 017 Just Do It Yourself

Projects-37eb7d45-7c61-412d-8328-46be3ec3500e-1575630eac1640db84681a8e55cebe1f

From Shimelle, "This week Glitter Girl explores some options with a new product - DIY Thickers by American Crafts, something currently being discussed here on the General Scrapbooking message board. This week her adventure takes her through a variety of things that do and do not work well with the DIY Thickers, plus one page from start to finish using the DIY Thickers for the page title.

Come along for the adventure, won't you?

This week, Glitter Girl challenges you to embrace the DIY attitude, with these Thickers or with another product in your stash, then share the results in the gallery! Don't forget to tick the box for the Glitter Girl challenge in step four of the uploading process. Get creative with what you can DIY if you don't have these Thickers on hand."

Finally Friday:   Birthday Wishes by Kandis Smith

Projects-171bcd4d-5f67-410c-a52b-a0325bf73404-fa1e54a40be54973bb2bd1b32364cf34

From Kandis, "The bright, fun colors and patterns in Echo Park's new Hello Summer line are perfect for so many themes. I loved this pendant patterned paper and thought it would make the perfect birthday card. Watch the video to see how I use Hero Arts stamps, Echo Park papers and chipboard, Pebbles Inc tags, and Doodlebug Buttons to create this fun card!

Your challenge: Create a card using border stickers!"

Are you ready to dig into your craft supplies and get creating yet?  I thought so!

Member Spotlight with Amy Heller

Agnieszkapiskorz

427322
Hi Peas!! It’s Amy Heller here with you today putting a spotlight on a Pea who’s work always catches my eye. Her Pea name is agnieszka-piskorz. She has such an artistic, funky style, but one that always is well designed and thought out.

I am personally really attracted to projects that show scrappers sticking their necks out as artists and achieving great design in the process. It’s not an easy task, and one that I admire a great deal.  Agnieszka (also known as Mirabelle), does just that. Her design is bold, colorful, artistic and with TONS of energy, and is always captivating in the way she places every last bit of product/medium.

1

You are Amazing

I decided to do a Q& A interview with Agnieszka about scrapbooking and all the things she loves about Two Peas in a Bucket. I loved getting to know her a bit more and hope you enjoy it as well! :D

Q (Amy) Do you have a blog? If so, are you on any design teams?
A (Agnieszka) So I have a blog http://scrapbooking-mirabeel.blogspot.de/
Since 2010 I'm in DT BoBunny.

Q (Amy) What got you started in scrapbooking and how long have you been doing it?
A (Agnieszka) Scrapbooking is my passion since 2006. One day I found a photography forum and loved digital scrapbooking. After several months I wanted to do first a paper mini album. Currently I (only) occasionally do digital layouts.

2

Barefoot

Q (Amy) What are your favorite products to use?
A (Agnieszka) I love colors and contrasts. I love to use stickers, chipboards and rub-ons.

Q (Amy) What are your favorite brands to work with?
A (Agnieszka) In the first place BoBunny then Echo Park Papers, My Minds Eye, Crate Paper, October Afternoon, Studio Calico, Prima and many others.

Q (Amy) How would you describe your style?
A (Agnieszka) I do not know if I can describe my style. I'm sure it would be layered. Sometimes I create a romantic, sometimes clean & simple.  I love experimenting with paper and accessories, cutting, composing, etc.

3
Smile

Q (Amy) Where do you find inspiration besides the Two Peas in A Bucket galleries?
A (Agnieszka) My biggest inspiration are my children - my daughter Alicja and son Bartek. I also draw inspiration from the world around me.

Q (Amy) What is your favorite thing about Two Peas in A Bucket?
A (Agnieszka) I love the gallery. I spend long hours looking at all the great work.

Q (Amy) What are 5 products in the Two Peas in a Bucket shop right now that are on your "wish" list, or something you plan on purchasing in the future?
A (Agnieszka) My wish list are long!
I plan on purchasing:

- Story Teller - Crate Paper
- Sasparilla - October Afternoon
- Howdy Doody/ Miss Caroline - My Minds Eye
- Take Note - Studio Calico

Q (Amy) What is your favorite project from your gallery?
A (Agnieszka) I like all my work, but the favorites are these two:

Projects-b0b2c425-1b53-43e6-98e1-15dd789ae104-a1f78af23400489d901d71a12ea90334

I hope you’ve enjoyed learning more about Agnieszka as much as I have! To see more of her beautiful work check out her projects in the Two Peas in a Bucket Gallery here or on her gorgeous blog here. Thank you so much for stopping by the Two Peas in a Bucket Blog today and keep those beautiful scrappy artwork coming into the Two Peas Gallery! Trends Watch: Triangles

Triangles

This humble geometric shape is getting the spotlight these days, and we love seeing how the trend is being interpreted by papercrafters!  Today we're taking a look at how we're seeing triangles pop up in projects.

(Don't forget our Gardener's Digest Blog Hop workshop giveaway is still open!)

Projects-c13f3967-ae16-480e-84ed-2c6ff5040fe7-cf0318fbcad0450b90eb0b2ae443ee8d

KJ Starre's pattern of triangles not only serves as a striking background, but a reinforcer of the "ups and downs" she journals about on her layout.  A line of stitching and a composition made up of columns ties multiple patterns and colors together.

Projects-e92a3892-7f1b-4abf-8b13-9b4899750c3e-a0989b00c8134b66b58c5d6c2e489ee6

Each triangle gets a stitched border on this layout by Cindy Tobey; I love that she's left some open too.  This is also a great way to use up scrap pieces!

Projects-b493b8b2-e4c1-4a49-9f29-e034cc077278-3d427f83f0f8472fad915c7f456ca852

You can make triangles tall and skinny or short and wide, like on this card by jbarksdale.

2624112_600x600

Get colorful for another twist on repeating triangles.  Milkcan put a mask to work to get this effect.

Projects-9fa3da93-1c1e-4cdf-a84b-19298aa57f00-e431ee93f6874763a8f392c53f3e38f7

Finally, Allison Waken let this trend stand all on its own.  No patterned paper.  No embellishments.  Just one stunning page!

Wanting even more?  Follow our board on Pinterest!  Our buyer, Kristina, has begun to curate these boards following the different trends we're seeing.  Enjoy!

Weekly Scrap Challenge: Scraplift Yourself with Amy Heller

Scrapliftyourselfchallenge

From Amy, "Hi Peas!  Today I'm bringing you a fun challenge! One that I don't do a lot, but when I do, I'm REALLY happy with the results. It's to ScrapLift YOURSELF!

I created a page not to long ago that I was really happy with how the design turned out. It was unlike many of my pages, and I loved that about it. So today, I decided to lift it and put a new spin on it. I added more photos and eliminated some of the patterned paper elements on the side to accommodate for those new additional photos. The orientation became further to the left of my page rather than the right. I also used an entirely different color scheme. I maintained a couple of the embellishments that I loved like the tab at the top of the photo montage and the linear button strips, but other than that, I used my new page to dictate where my embellishments became located on my page. Side by side, though they still have a pretty similar feel to it without being identical, which I love.

Have you every lifted YOURSELF? If not, I challenge you this week to give it a go! If you do, I'd love to see the new project as well as the lifted project, that makes it more fun to see the comparison, but not necessary."

Weekly Photography Challenge: Pets with Amy Tan

Projects-8d4a9f89-aea7-471a-b8f2-6d64202d7d95-2e0c958f74424ea6a6dda478e0567931

From Amy, "We all love our pets - and I thought it would be fun to focus on them for a little challenge. I took this photo of Buster without adjusting anything. I didn't even clean up what was next to him on the sofa. I used natural light and no flash, which I think turns out the best pet photos. No doggie red eye.

THE CHALLENGE: Take a snapshot of your pet at their eye level with no flash. They could be sleeping, eating or just sitting there - just capture the moment with natural light."

Saturday Card Sketch Challenge with Kimber

Sketchchallenge421

From Kimber, "This week I did another simple sketch design that can be interpreted many different ways. There's a lot of open space on this sketch so you could load up it up with a grouping of small embellishments or use it as a landing place for stamped images like I did."

Challengewinners421

Congrats norcha, sherelm, and emilymae8; we'll be in touch with you shortly on how to access your gift certificate!  And thanks to everyone who played along!

Tutorial: Journaling on labels with Jill Sprott

One of my favorite approaches to presenting the journaling on layouts is to print the journaling directly onto label stickers, as in the layout below:

1

Since the surface of many stickers can be too glossy, I usually opt to print on matte label stickers, like the October Afternoon Sasparilla ones here.

First, I compose my journaling using a word processing program while also being mindful of the space available on the label itself, which I check by using a ruler.  Then I print out my journaling, being sure to leave ample space between each section, so that there is room to adhere the labels.

2

Once I print out the journaling on a sheet of printer paper, I prepare to “place” the labels by drawing boundaries around each printed section.

3

This way I know exactly where to place the label, because I can better gauge where the text should begin and end.

4

5

After adhering the labels to the printed sheet, I run the entire sheet through the printer once more.

6

Then I remove the labels from the printed page and transfer them to my layout.

The same technique works with small scraps of paper and journaling cards. Easy, right? - Jill

Ready for another edition of Get the Look?  Today our inspiration comes from this page by vwibbens.  I love its simple composition and the playful, artistic details.  This is a digital page, but we could easily pull together a layout with traditional supplies as well:

Getthelook416

1.  Newsprint paper  2.  Blue paper  3.  Hot pink blossoms  4.  Date stamp  5.  Black & white tape  6.  Stitched brads  7.  Borders stamp  8.  Black pen

Happy Monday, Peas!

Washi Tape Title Tutorial with Lisa

Hi Peas! For April, my 2012 : Captured class (it goes live tomorrow!) is going to be focusing on washi tape. I consider tape to be a staple in my stash - both for Project Life and for scrapbook layouts - & I'm excited to share some fun ways to use it with you. Today I've got a tutorial that combines diecutting and washi for a cool look.

Washicard

I used this technique earlier this month on a layout for the garden, and couldn't wait to try it again. I've got some step by steps so you can give it a try.

Washi1

Open up silhouette studio and use the font tool to type out your word. I used a fairly blocky font so that there would be a lot of space for the tape to peek through.
Washi2

This step is a little fussy. You'll need to position your word on the grid so that it's where you want it cut from the photo. I used the rectangular tool to draw a 4x4 square to represent my photo. I then rotated the word and moved it to the side of the square. Use a ruler to double check the placement on your photo - you don't want to put a letter into someone's head. ;)
Washi3

Make sure to delete your guide box before you send the cut file to your silhouette!
Washi4

Each time I've tried this, I've used the standard settings for heavy cardstock - I've found that it works well for me, but you might need to play around with the settings.
Washi5

Position your photo on your Silhouette mat - use the guidelines to get it exactly where your box was on the page. I went ahead and taped mine in place on my mat - it's seen better days and sometimes small items like this can wiggle out of place while the machine is cutting.
Washi6

My letters cut cleanly, but I needed to pop them out once I'd taken my photo off my mat.
Washi7

Choose a journaling card and add washi tape. I went with a rainbow, and made sure it would peek out from under the edge of my photo.
Washi8

Add your photo and admire your finished card. I love that switching up the font + tape colors will give this technique a new look everytime! You could also use the same idea with shapes - either diecut or punched.
If you give this a try, I hope you'll link me up! See you tomorrow for 2012 : Captured! - Lisa

p.s.  Don't forget Garden Girl Shimelle has a weekend of fun going on over at her blog.  Her crop includes challenges, inspiration, tips and prizes!

This Week's Challenges 4.14.2012

Thisweek'schallenges

There's nothing like a new batch of challenges to get you jumpstarted on your creative endeavors.  Remember each challenge gives you a chance to win a $5 gift certificate, as well as earns you a badge for your Two Peas profile page.  Just click on the title of each challenge for details on how to enter, and scroll down to see last week's winners!

Photography Challenge: Home by Kandis Smith

Projects-86fc55e6-ef49-4a74-a0fb-25205c357c7b-9dc71e345d024e02a07a8055edba0930

From Kandis, "The word Home brings so many wonderful things to mind. I instantly thought of this picture of my boys relaxing this past summer on the front steps eating popsicles. I took a few steps back to frame them with the front door. It makes me think of all the wonderful views I get from inside my home."  We can't wait to see how you interpret the theme "Home" this week!

Weekly Scrap Challenge: Color Palette with Shimelle

Projects-3381ac10-8de9-49cc-bef9-755baafa8fcc-dfdc3e7a9a494c95b02648381aa0caa8

From Shimelle, "For this week's challenge, we're taking a nod from colour trends. Yellow and grey has been a popular combination in fashion and craft for more than a year now, but I've loved the twists on this combination from the simple act of adding just one more colour. Yellow, grey and purple; yellow, grey and turquoise; yellow, grey and red... Navy. Black. White. Rose. They all look lovely!  So your challenge is just that: create a project with yellow, grey and one other colour of your choice!"

Saturday Card Sketch with Kimber: Thank You card

Cardsketch414

From Kimber, "Again, I started by creating a simple sketch this week and then played with it to create my card. I ordered some of the new washi tape from EK Success' Smash line. I loved that I could cover a piece of cardstock with the tape and then punch a hole in it easily. I stamped on the front of my card base and colored in the sentiment with Copic Markers."

Congrats to zgagipaperclips29, and autumscrappa - we'll be in touch with you shortly on how to access your gift certificate!  And thanks to everyone who played along!

From Nancy, "Welcome to this week's episode of Memory Keeping Monday. Today I created a page about some of my favorite places to visit near home. I created a custom map to depict those places and add 4 of my favorite photos. Here's a look at how it all came together."

Glitter Girl Adventures: Episode 015 Old + New to the Rescue

From Shimelle, "This week Glitter Girl faces the challenge of bringing new life to older scrapbooking products - something currently being discussed here [twopeasinabucket.com] on the message board. Her adventure takes her through the creation of several page kits by finding current complements to discontinued designs and the creation of a page from start to finish using several simple techniques to mix and match the new and the old.

A few favourite combinations include:
- Love, Elsie + either Amy Tangerine collection, Bella Blvd (especially the b-sides), camera prints like the Echo Park viewmaster and vintage cameras, lettering and some embellishments from Jillibean Soup and Crate Paper.
- Narratives + the new Heidi Swapp papers, Jenni Bowlin Studio, Echo Park, Lily Bee and letter stickers from Bella Blvd.
- Scenic Route + October Afternoon (or if you want less vintage, more clean brights, opt for Bella Blvd or Jillibean b-sides), Crate Paper.
And not pictured here, but the new Studio Calico lines work very well with many of the older Sassafras collections.

Garden Theme Round-Up: All About Me

Allaboutmepages

It's time to talk about another scrappy theme we've recently seen from the Garden Girls!  Today's topic? Scrapping about YOU!  Yeah, you, the one behind the camera doing all the memory keeping for your family.  When was the last time you recorded things for you personally?  Let the GG's inspire you!

 Here Right Now by Wilna

Projects-5bc22eb0-14d1-4d8f-ba39-b81d25c55157-78711be7312a465b86d056eed1b9976f

Let an element be the diving board for your design and journaling.  In this page all about her current hunger for growing in her photography skills, Wilna repeats a stamped camera image.

 Enjoy by Jen Gallacher

Projects-e20ae728-6dfe-4c0a-9b40-814a8e1524a2-ed59b3fb4a684da792c8737bd6c8d33f

A scrapbook page can also serve as a place to give ourselves reminders; in this layout Jen encourages herself to keep and follow her dreams.

Trends by Becky

Projects-135fa505-0a2a-4dd6-a146-fb4c286dd518-50b962afdf914d2f8da9078c4e92486c

Becky records the current trends she's loving; how fun to look back on this layout years later.  A time capsule you don't have to bury!   :)

 36 by Shannon

  Projects-a62a77a7-5165-458c-8fd0-f0f6dbdc988e-2452083b487d4d10a0632ca5bc8fdc68

Shannon records some of her self-reflections at age 36.  Wouldn't it be fun to have a page like this for every year? (Shannon has a video for this page too, click here to see it)

At 33 by Jen Jockisch

Projects-d26d8435-1db7-4ac4-b3ca-6f06d0a32225-24669f7bcace42ee942e0d9bf7bc2939

Jen Jockisch also uses an "at this age..." approach.  A strand of wire grouping trinkets and thoughts displays a collection that reflects Jen's taste and style.

35 Accept It by Jill

2612689_600x600

Jill shares that once a month she attempts to take a self-portrait.  What a wonderful and inspiring goal!   She likens the layers of paper on her page to the many layers she has as a growing individual.

Me and My Hat by Chelsea Parsons

  Projects-d2d83b8d-103f-4ed0-9a9f-53a8a6bde458-7c73d2f7220a4927adfe3f96150bd1cd

An older page by Chelsea - scrapping a page about oneself can be as simple as using a photo wearing a recent favorite article of clothing!

I hope this round up has inspired you to get thinking about your next page about YOU!  Have fun!

Wilna's Creative Space

Creativespaceshare

Hi Peas! Wilna here! Today I want to share with you my (relatively new) creative space. We moved into a new home last year September

Studio2012

We moved into a new home last year September and this room was just perfect for a scrapbook studio/ office. I loved the wall paper and color and the hard wood floors.  A big plus was the walk-in closet just opposite this room where i store most of my scrapbook papers and stickers. Right now i am in the process of decluttering said closet and working on some organizing solutions that i will show you as soon as I am done.

The one thing that i got installed in my studio was a chandelier. To me, it makes the space mine! The closet you see in the first picture is mainly used for our home office: Files, stationary, school supplies and administrative stuff. The desk, chair, white book case and 2 chest of drawers is from Ikea. I don't think they still make the desk as many people have emailed me to ask. :( The dark chest of drawers i bought for $50 at a pawn shop. The only thing i did was give it a good polish and put a thick glass top on the surface. The little chubby organizer above my wide format printer is from Pottery Barn. Just last week i re-organized it to hold all of my mists and inks and punches. You can see more pictures of my space here.

If you have any questions, please ask them in the comments!

love and a kiss, Wilna xox

From Laura, "I'm often drawn to bold primary colors in my photography, and life. Sometimes I forget just how beautiful colors are in their softer pastel hues. I was putting together some easter "nests" around my house and just looking at the soft colors of these pastel eggs just made me instantly happy. What a powerful thing! :)

So I challenge you to go seek out some pastels in your environment and snap away! I bet it will make you feel a bit happier too! :) "

Weekly Challenge: Journaling Challenge with Wilna Furstenberg

From Wilna, "Today's challenge is a JOURNALING one... the prompt being to play with the design in your journaling. You can do it in any way you want! I used some digital titles from Erica Hernandez and made my headline from that... and then I just journaled the story of a family Photoshoot."

Saturday Card Sketch with Kimber McGray

Sketch47

From Kimber, "This week I created another simple sketch that can be interpreted in many different ways. I can't wait to see how you interpret it! I repeated a stamped image across the strip running horizontally and did a quick color with my Copic markers. I picked up the heart in the stamped image and used hearts as my embellishments cascading down the right side of the card."

This Week's Class Videos 4.6.2012

Classvideos

Welcome to the weekend, Peas!  Each Friday we take a look back on what classes + videos went live on Two Peas this week.  Enjoy!

Memory Keeping Mondays | Our Girly Girl by Shannon

Memorykeepingmonday42

From Shannon, "This month one of our our 'themes' is Florals. I started out thinking about floral papers...but hit a wall. So I turned to Pinterest and came back with some fun inspiration in the form of a sweater (which I wish was still available!)

This week I actually have two layouts for you. I know, call me crazy! I hope you enjoy the video and watching the two layouts come together. As always there is a challenge associated with the Memory Keeping Monday Video...your challenge this week is to use Florals on your layout...but not in the form of floral patterned paper. I know, I like to be tricky!  I can't wait to see what you make!"

The Adventures of Glitter Girl | Episode 014 Paper Not PreMade

Projects-21f7d2a9-0b26-4d65-9e60-494f37189071-427685a41b0b4305802b143643378651

From Shimelle, "This week Glitter Girl works with just patterned paper, not premade embellishments - something currently being discussed here on the General Scrapping message board at Two Peas. Her adventure takes a look at some new patterned papers available in the store, plus the creation of two layouts: one creating embellishments similar to what you might find in a premade pack and one layering paper scraps to create a page with enough colour and pattern that no other embellishment is needed.  Come along for the adventure, won't you?"

Finally Friday | You're Adorable by Laura

From Laura, "Another Finally Friday and I'm so happy to share a cute girly card with you guys! :) I just LOVE Echo Parks Dots and Stripes collections, they are just the perfect staples for any scrapbooker or cardmaker. I also can't get enough of the super cute Doodlebug card bases. The mason jar was cut from a sheet of Dear Lizzy patterned paper, and I used me Silhouette Cameo to cut the kraft alphabet border. My challenge to you guys is to cut out an element from patterned paper for your card. Thanks for looking and I hope you enjoy the video :) "

Another amazing round of lessons and tutorials!  :)  Have a great weekend, Peas.

Trends Watch: Chevron

Chevron

It's no secret this pattern is everywhere - from furniture to bath towels to stamps and scrapbook pages.  We're loving the different ways we're seeing this pattern used and adapted.  Let's take a look at a few projects from the Peas using these zig zag lines:

Projects-eb0bb59f-d7b6-4109-ad27-09856f83d898-18aa3d382c8c41e4a7b507fbf31c748a

Ursula Schneider created her own chevron border by piecing together bits of pattern paper on this soft and lovely layout.  I love the way she's countered its sharp points by rounding the corners on her stitching and cardstock.

Projects-d12628dd-cca8-403e-9b71-2146d910b36c-854289153fa74237869aab6595232c28

Paige22 had a similar idea and used it on her vibrant layout, "Happy."  I like that the pieces do not perfectly line up; there are small gaps of white that add interest and remind us our pages don't have to be perfect!  The splashes of color below add balance to the page.

Projects-555e94bd-6f5a-4aa6-9f4d-0d57c7ae4b41-6c9cbbca096544e29391cb039eca3117

The beauty of digital products is that you can customize them to suit your needs.  I would never have thought to put a pattern inside a speech bubble!  Joscie combined a handful of digital elements including this chevron background to create a fun, monochromatic card.

Projects-6fce2cc2-c683-415e-8640-ab47d6c57c25-96b86220ffc04782879401c62974f2cf

Do you love the pattern, but creating zig zag lines yourself is not for you?  There are LOTS of products using this trend on the market.  I'm loving the way WeeMemories did not stop at one stamped chevron heart, but layered three pieces and tucked it into a chevron envelope to boot!

Finally, here are two helpful video tutorials from past classes by Garden Girls Shannon Tidwell and Julie Campbell on creating chevron backgrounds:

Wanting even more?  Follow our board on Pinterest!  Our buyer, Kristina, has begun to curate these boards following the different trends we're seeing.  Enjoy!

Member Spotlight with Laura Craigie

Memberspotlight43

Hey Peas!!! Laura Craigie here, and today I'm excited to share with you guys a cardmaker I discovered recently in the gallery at Two Peas.  We seriously have the best gallery, and I'm always stumbling on new Peas to love :)
Her 2P's name is Jo Kill, and she makes some seriously gorgeous cards!  She works layers and colors beautifully.  Her member profile is here, but I thought I'd share a few of her cards with you today right here!

Card1

Lucky You

I thought this card was so very cute with the layered clouds, pinked edges and green stitches.  But what I really love is the rainbow detail!  I thought it was so clever to separate it up like she did having the pinked edge layered over the far side of the rainbow.

Card2

Love You x Card

This next card jumped out at me for a few reasons, but mostly I loved her sewing on it!  The wonky heart is fabulous on the card but what really makes it is the stitching through it, and most importantly how she changed her stitch mid way.  It just draws your eye right in to the most important element perfectly.  I also love the mix of chevron, graph and number papers, too cute! :)

Card3

Cheerio Card

I think Jo is amazing at mixing together so many details and making it work.  This card has cameras, flowers, clouds, doilies, and more, yet it works :)  I love the little pink bubbles on the clouds too, and  the sentiment it just cute!
Thanks for stopping by today, I hope you were inspired as much as I was by Jo's cards.  Have you spotted any amazing Peas' lately?  I'd love to here who in the comments!  Have a great day :)

Garden Theme Round-Up: Under This Roof

Underthisroof

Hello and welcome to a brand new week!  It's officially Spring here in the States; how many of you are doing a little Spring-cleaning?  While you're purging, organizing and making your house a home, we encourage you to think about the theme "Under This Roof" for in your scrapbooking!

Amy, Lynn and Nancy took on the challenge of scrapping this theme in some of their recent layouts.  Let's take a look!

In this Home by Amy Heller:

Projects-f4021649-237f-4a53-8ffa-a9ef58d35373-bc56ece5b56b49c6a409ae6c5115db3d

From Amy, "This is a page that I have been wanting to create for some time. I found a similar saying on a sign from Pinterest a while back. I recently decided to have one of the signs made for our home. I have been working with the artist on creating just the right verbiage for the sign in our home and this is what we came up with. It fits our family to a T. So when we were challenged to come up with a page for the "Under This Roof" theme this month, I knew exactly what I was going to so.

Because I tend to think of us as a very happy family, I decided to use a variety rainbow type colors to illustrate the sentiment in the sign verbiage. I used my Silhouette to cut out my title, then used strips of the colors I wanted to feature underneath my cut title. I chose just to use black and white pictures so that they stood out from the colors in the title and background, and because they were images from my phone, I made the images very small as well. This way, they would come out as clean as possible. Then I hung them from the adorable new paperclip hangers by Maya Road, which further illustrates the "Home" idea. I had a lot of fun creating this page, and hope you've enjoyed seeing it."

In This House by Lynn Ghahary

Lynn had a similar idea!  From Lynn, "I created this layout for the "under this roof" theme this month in the Garden. I was inspired by the family subway art I found here on Etsy. The photo was taken during a family photo shoot last fall and I love how it just shows our feet.

I used my printer and alphabet stamps to create my word art image in the center of my layout. The patterned paper is from Crate Paper (Paper Hearts collection) and the stickers are from Dear Lizzy (Neapolitan collection). Thanks for looking! :)"

Under This Roof by Nancy Damiano

Projects-4ab10ce1-9308-4ecb-8378-ee5137a60529-e965e93ddfab467aadc35ed8e801c65b

From Nancy, "I created a page about my family and what we do at home. I mixed a bunch of photos, both color and black & white for an electic look. The film strip photo perfectly depicts our family - SILLY! The journaling focuses on the things we love to do at home - what we play, eat, fight over, rooms we love, etc.

I layered lots of different patterns and embellishments while still keeping a clean, linear look. The washi tape adds a pop of color and leads the eye right to the photos. And that little house in the center - it's the theme of the page! I added Flair from 2 different lines to complete the page. You can customize the Flair to your very home or theme. "  See the video for this page here.

We hope you enjoyed this theme!  Be sure to share with us in the comments if you've made a page along these lines, or are inspired to make one - we'd love to see!

Get the Look: Spring Has Sprung

This page, Spring Has Sprung, by valeriebishop is simple, but stunning!  I love the fresh Spring colors patched together and grounded by a kraft cardstock.  The bits of fresh white in the lettering and photos mats really pop off the page.  Here's how one might achieve Valerie's look:

1.  Digital Stitched Border Kit  2.  Kraft Cardstock  3.  Fresh Goods Patterned Papers  4.  Accordion Rosette Flowers  5.  White Thicker Letter Stickers  6.  Circle Scissor Pro
